Online application (Standard)3rd December 2020.Biometrics done 14th December,2020 and then the most frustrating wait ever began.Got a non straightforward mail on the 8th January 2021.mailed them the following week and my application was escalated but days later nothing was forthcoming and so i emailed again.Again,nothing!Got a second non straightforward mail on the 22nd of January and immediately got another email that an ECO had requested an interview with me scheduled for 28 of January.On the said day,a call came in around 12noon and i was GRILLED for almost 2hours.I was asked all the questions of this world and was at a point asked to even SPELL the name of my chosen school.It was HELLISH but i managed to keep calm and answer the different questions as best as i could.Yesterday the 2nd of feb i got a decision and collection mail both from tls.went there this morning..lo and behold my Visa was waiting.declared one uk refusal and one usa refusal.declared the countries i have been to and didnt lie in my application.my one cent to anyone applying is STAY CLEAR of standard applications if you no get mind.it was a very trying and frustratin period.All thanks to GOD ALMIGHTY and to everyone here on the platform.you guys are the real MVPs.WHAT GOD CANNOT DO DOES NOT EXIST TRULY!!!

Good afternoon everyone. I hope you are having a wonderful day. I'm leaving for the UK next week and I would like to know more about the covid testing. I reside in Ibadan so earlier today, I went to UCH to find out. During my inquiry, I was advised to book a test, pay and eventually get tested on 25th so I can receive the result on 26th. Is there anyone that can confirm for me if that is indeed the case? My flight leaves 11pm on 26th and i'm scheduled to arrive Heathrow by 4am.

Another thing, would I still need to do a second covid test when i get to the UK?

Lastly, can someone help me with a list of essential things I should bring along with me to the UK asides pullover, hoodie, gloves and other protective gear to cope with the weather?

Go to NCDC site and ensure that the UCH lab you're talking about is listed. If it is, and the workers have confirmed that you'd get your result on time, then there's nothing else to worry about.

There are no general essential things to carry to the UK. You can buy almost anything you need over there... so what you choose to carry with you from Nigeria is a personal decision.

Thanks for your kind response, I checked NCDC website for private and government owned labs and only UCH was listed there in the entire Oyo State. Could you clarify if I would be required to take another Covid test by the time I cross the border to the UK?

my broda, unless you are heading to a family/friend's place, my advise is that you take all the essential foods
(indomie, spaghetti, sardine, washing soap (both liquid and powder), bathing soap, custard, milo, very very dry fish and meat including, pepper,

tomatoe paste, enough rice, garri, beans, crayfish, ogbono, dried vegetable, egusi, okporoko, kilishi (plenti), bread, toiletries o, infact thank God we

took about 20pcs of tissues as the short stay accomodation only gave us 8 pcs that finished in 4 days cos we have got kids and flu set with enough

cattarh to clean every minute. add sanitizer (4-6pcs), wipes, vaseline, aboniki, rob you will be isolating for 10 days. i have only done 6 days and have

received two calls and three emails checking on us. dont forget to get your debit card if you have enough time, get USD or pounds card and deposit atleast 200 - 300 USD/Pounds cos you will need to shop for other essentials need that might arise within your ten days isolation. lastly add video games cos its really boring (the ten days isolation)

Thank you so much for this elaborate response. I'm going to my mum's friend place, fortunately. So I guess I don't need much food stuff so I'll pack a few among your list. I have a dollar card with a substantial amount so I guess I got that part covered. Someone told me to get jackets, thick socks and gloves so I'll add that to my list as well.

yes please include jackets, enough thick socks, with gloves leather and fabrics. However as a good naija pikin i still advise you take few food stuffs along (though you are going to your mum's friend place), cos we all know how most of our people already abroad behave, especially with food. Am not implying that this is applicable to your mum's friend o or everyone o, but a few food stuffs to support what they have at home wont be a bad idea or preferably your mum can ask her friend the exact stuffs that she might need you to bring for her.

please include some paracetamol, cold, cattarh and malaria tablets, you can add strepsil.

since you will be arriving this week, yes you will be require to pay for covid test and will have one on your second day and eight days after arrival. not too sure but you can goggle gov.uk (covid update) or ask your host.
