Codedboy95: Hi, thanks for opening this thread. I started as a freelancer on Upwork last week, though I've been working on Fiverr and fivesquid for a number of years. I have some questions: (1) Is buying of review possible on Upwork just like we do on Fiverr? (2) I was asked this morning to do verification within 7 days, but my voter's card has faded, and I don't have driver's licence or int'l passport. Though I have NIN slip, pls I need your view on this. (3) Do you suggest using picture as dp or logo? Thanks in anticipation of your response. 4 Likes 1 Share |

Femolacaster: 1) no please don't buy reviews, instead invite a client to upwork to hire you, 2) Try upload your nin slip, i know someone that used that to verify her account, but it seems it doesn't work every time 3)use your picture, not logo, you will be asked to do video verification where you will show your face, Infact you shouldn't be able to upload anything other than picture 4 Likes 1 Share |

Codedboy95:Congratulations. Any tips for those of us without a badge? I know you encountered some nasty clients who are not satisfied after you've delivered job, will go AWOL after job delivery without releasing payments, etc. How did you deal with them all? Also, what are the tips you will advise for those aiming to reach the same milestone you just did? What challenges are worthy of mention and how you overcame them? I'm not talking about how to apply for jobs. I am asking from a perspective of someone who has a long-term plan on Upwork. 2 Likes |

tensazangetsu20:Thanks sir for your response. What about MERN? Because I can also use React. Moreover I am thinking of going for either frontend gigs or backend gigs depending on the availability... not really full stack. What do you have to say on this too? Thanks once again |
Re: Upwork Thread (Questions/Help/Advice) by Codedboy95(m): 7:34am On Feb 17, 2021 |
Crazeworld: Make your profile 100% complete, add portfolios, take on smaller jobs for reviews sake, make sure you apply to jobs you are sure you can do 99%, once your first few jobs result in a not too good feedback from client, it won't be easy for you to recover and it will be harder to get newer jobs. I only had one client who tried to scam me after using me for two weeks, he went on and gave me a very bad review after realizing that scamming me won't be easy, that's the only stain on my profile, since then i got wiser, i check client rating before applying to jobs, i also check clients feedback. Tips to get badges is everything i have posted on this thread. I didn't really have any challenge, the only one would be when i had an on-site full time job in lagos and i had to multitask 18 Likes 1 Share |

tensazangetsu20:If he is really good he just needs to apply to hard jobs, it's the easy jobs that gets a lot of proposal, hard jobs always have just 5 - 10 proposals. 1 Like |

FanOfMyself:That's even worst. Look at the older posts from qtguru. If you are applying for general frontend or backend jobs anything you see you take o I started hunting for jobs on Upwork as a react only developer and my head saw my ears. I learnt wordpress and Shopify and things started to look good now I only do React and wordpress jobs (jamstack). Adding Salesforce to my portfolio soon and that's just going to be it for me. 6 Likes 3 Shares |

plantist:Then you are good to go. PHP is similar to JavaScript and can be learnt in like a week. Wordpress like a month. There's other things like Magento, servicenow, Shopify et al. You can also look into them. Less competitive and the people who know them are few. 11 Likes 5 Shares |

tensazangetsu20: Do you mind explaining? Is there a programming language that can be learnt within a week? |
Re: Upwork Thread (Questions/Help/Advice) by tensazangetsu20(m): 11:02am On Feb 17, 2021 |
Albertone: If you have taken months to learn a previous programming language like python or javascript, then PHP will be easy to pick up. If PHP is your first language then it cant be learnt in a week at all. 1 Like |

Re: Upwork Thread (Questions/Help/Advice) by Codedboy95(m): 11:34am On Feb 17, 2021 |
Crazeworld:it didn't affect me, i had like 8 good reviews before then, so the one didn't count, also upwork flags client account if it has too many bad reviews, so if you get bad review from that client it won't hurt your jss. I have never dropped from 100% jss since i joined 3 years ago. 3 Likes |

Hello house glad I stumbled on this thread.. I developed interest in I.T early last year and btw then and now, I have learnt Sql and basics of Powerbi, sometime last month got an MCSA in “developing sql” . The big question is “am I ripe enough to start taking jobs on Upwork “? The big challenge is not having many database files to practice with . 2. Is the data visualization space on Upwork saturated (having too many competition) 3. Should I learn a language I.e python before trying out Upwork.. Would appreciate an answer .. once again really glad I saw this thread |

obalala:I've seen many questions like this. They all end up ignored. Signing up on upwork and finding out yourself won't be too difficult. |
