The guy is right. Most of the things people kill themselves for(fundamental things of life) are science inclined. Food production mechanization, transport, communications and internet, construction, roads, cars, healthcare, household items production are all science driven.

wait, law, philosophy and English teaching don't have value over there?

Naturally people shie away from difficult courses so in most countries of the liberal world, the arts courses are already full and overflowing. This is what creates the need to absorb STEM graduates from other countries.

You cannot use Nigerian law to work in Britain. British law is different. Japanese law is different. Every country's law is different. You only use law in the country you learnt the law.

Japan and China do tend to like English teachers. The rest countries, don't give any F*** about English. They program their internet, keyboards, phone, books and all media in their language.

A cousin of mine was a medical doctor in Nigeria.
He went to Canada. Those guys told him to learn again, their Canadian medicine and diseases.
He later went to UK. UK told him to learn UK medicine again!

I have lived in the UK for 11 years, and Canada for some years. While I studied in the former to PhD level, I did art(law). It has served me well.

I can speak confidently about the UK and Canada. Ask questions, if you have.

Hello, thanks for taking time out to write this post. You have done something I am considering doing but not sure and I also have another path in mind. The 2 are explained below.

Option 1
Relocating to England to do an accelerated LLB up to LLD in corporate law. I want to know the opportunities available in doing this.

Option 2
On the other hand, I want to come to England as a tourist, overstay and appeal not to return to Nigeria based on my mental and physical health while I focus on building my business in real estate and Amazon.

Option 1 could delay my ability to focus fully on my business, while option 2 allows me to focus fully on my business without any distractions.

Please advise on the path you feel is better.

Life sciences like microbiology is also very hot especially in this pandemic period where countries are spending a lot on viruses and all.

Medical microbiology with masters in virology is the way to go o.

I know one Nigerian guy that went to UK to study law, following them to speak big English.
When it came time for work, nobody will employ him. Because no white man will like a black Nigerian to be his lawyer in their own country again.
No way.
Hunger wan kill guy man.
And the law is useless in Nigeria.
The guy now got idea to be helping fellow Nigerians and Africans with Visa immigration problem. Since it's only black people that will like to use his service. The black people will not like to go to White lawyer. The white lawyer will not even defend them sef. He too will want them to lose and get out of his country.

Art courses are largely country dependent. Nigeria's Law degree is useless outside the country but not for medicine or engineering. Also, in jobs' availability, even their citizens face low prospects and salaries. Check the lamentations by PhD grads in history, philosophy, political science etc. Now, compare to science based courses and you will see the difference. Someone with a PhD in Computer Science from Princeton will quickly get a job anywhere in the world over his counterpart with a PhD in history from the same institution.

It's what it's.

Food production mechanization, transport, communications and internet, construction, roads, cars, healthcare, household items production are all science driven. Any society that wants to get ahead mustn't play with those. That's why the developed nations prioritize them.

Also Psychology which is social science. For example, graduate in Nigeria with a minimum of 2.1 in Psychology and apply to obtain UK's Graduate membership of the British Psychological Society (that designates one as an Assistant Psychology by UK standard), do a one year masters in a subfield that would get you a job upon graduation especially in mental health facilities where one can work part time even while studying. Switching to Ireland also becomes an easier option.

ion know why I've always loved to study psychology but I feel God knows better for me getting admission in Agriculture n wildlife

But is it possible to switch to Psychology when I want to do Masters??

It's even useless in Nigeria because the country is lawless. You can become a lawyer abroad by taking courses and and country specific qualifying examinations but compared to your engineering counterpart, it takes a long while.
It's pathetic and the impunity in that school no be here

You are using foreign language to convey Nigerian ideology.
They will know you are not one of them.
If you watched the movie, "Inglourious Basterds" that was one part the Germans used to catch an English man posing as a german.

An example is Singapore where former prime minister Lee Kuan Yew criticised those who say arts and humanities should be prioritised over sciences during her nascent years.

I haven’t logged on to post for awhile but for the silly generalizations on this topic.

Art courses are relevant and useful in the West just like science courses. It depends on where you are, what you want, what you know and who is guiding you.

I have lived in the UK for 11 years, and Canada for some years. While I studied in the former to PhD level, I did art(law). It has served me well.

I know many who read art courses who are doing well in the financial, legal, healthcare, business and hospitality industries in Canada.

In short, they read these courses from places like Abia, Osun, Ebonyi, Delta, Ogun and Ekiti states.

I know science graduates too.

Through the Canadian NCA process, I have met and continue to interact with many Naija lawyers trying to practice here. Some work in courts, law firms and big professional services firms like PWC, Deloitte, Denton...while writing their licensing exams.

The licensing exams that Naija lawyers write are also written by American, British and Australian lawyers who want to practice law in Canada. It’s not peculiar to Naija lawyers.

Naija and other African doctors even face greater and tougher pathways to getting licensed here.

Engineers, nurses and teachers from across the world face licensing requirements and demands here too. Reason?

...Traditional professions are elitist and regulated to ensure credibility, control and compliance, and standardization.

In Canada, the UK, the US and co, all immigrants go through processes and seasons to settle in. Reason? We were not born here, didn’t study here and couldn’t have built the organic network for easy ascension.

It takes time to study, graduate and work in Naija where we were born and raised. It’s not abnormal and it is expected to take same, if not longer time, away from home in societies that are many decades, if not centuries, ahead of ours.

Over 30,000 Nigerians moved to Canada since 2015...The opportunities and areas of accomplishments and struggles are diverse across science and the arts.

Guys, do your research before you generalize.Stop listening to single and half stories of people who are determined to stay in their comfort zones on the sidelines of these societies.

I can speak confidently about the UK and Canada. Ask questions, if you have.
I have a brother who study law and graduate with a strong 2.2 will he have a chance, because law in Nigeria is something else after all the impunity

Yes, you will have to apply for UK's Msc Psychology (Conversion). This conversion masters is for those like you, who are coming from a different discipline and after which you can now go for your desired specialization. For me, my undergraduate being psychology and already obtained my Graduate membership of the British Psychological Society, am going in directly for my specialization: Msc Clinical Child Psychology.
