This is a personal experience, I thought it would be nice I share with you guys.

I bought a product in China via DHL, it took around 4 to 5 days to arrive In Nigeria, Bought something that same time from Jumia, it took 7 or so days to get to me, and kept wondering why should something sold within Nigeria in this jet age take so much time to arrive, I even called to ask why and they kept to their national anthem "sorry for inconveniences" . Now an item I bought from Konga 3 days ago arrived today, I was like this is how is supposed to be. Jumia has been annoying and they have refused to improve - been shopping from Jumia & konga since 2015 or so.

share ur experience.

I thinks it's better to go shopping physically than employing online shopping apps to do that on ur behalf.. Most of the pictures u see online are always different to what they will deliver.. I ordered for 3 chinos trousers size 34 only for they to deliver three size 34 that are of different size.. Dem dey house nao I no fit wear. Even if I fast for 40days and night I still don't think they would size.... Na only God know the farmer wey dey sew for them atimes

Their logistics department or service is notoriously slow.

Jumia staff are taking things for granted, the lady in their collection centre in kubwa does things the way she wish, they dont send you message that ur goods has arrived, she comes to office by after 9 am and leaves by 2pm or 3pm and she cancels your order at her will.

I agree with not shopping if you are not in Lagos. I recall ordering for a Gold Coloured laptop and getting a red coloured one and because I waited for so long I couldn't even ask for refund or send it back. Less than a year, touchscreen started malfunctioning and hinges broke. The same thing with my Redmi Note 3.

I think sellers, in a manner typical of the average Nigerian criminal, gambles on things sent outside Lagos because they know returning is usually hard. It is not often easy to return a product because of a minor variation in the features if you waited seven days or more to get it.

I recall asking Jumia to improve on product verification. It makes no sense that someone will order a Gold coloured laptop and when seller brings any package, jumia/Konga do nothing to check it. What did I do? Simple. I left. I can't buy anything in any Nigerian online store anymore. I rather go to ShopRite or any established physical store to get it.

Jumia should improve their service.
I paid for a fan to be delivered in Lagos.a delivery date only for Jumia to write that item supplier couldn't supplier and so refund made.later Jumia sent a msg that they didnt find the receiver at the address!
This is not the first or second time!Jumia should get a mobile catalogue and get their ass together

Firstly, you didn't mention the state you are in, only to start castigating the company. Also, if you had gone through the jumia website very well, You'd have seen the their delivery timelines for each region and state in Nigeria.

Thirdly, most customers would give very vague directions/addresses or would put an address and would want item to be delivered elsewhere.

Yes they have their demerits too.

they don't allow vendors access to customer contact. The vendor may have called you to inform you the red wasn't available if he had the chance. If he/she didn't ship the item, jumia would have penalized the store... they're very mean to vendors so I guess the vendor did what was necessary.

If a product is out of stock, the vendor is supposed to apply the out of stock sticker.

It's still the fault of the vendor, not Jumia and they deserve whatever penalty they get.

If a product is out of stock, it's customary to make it known to avoid customers placing orders and getting another thing in return.

I think have been shopping before you know about internet, you lack comprehension in English - is jumia not konga mate that used 3 days days to deliver item while jumia uses 7 days or more.

They are using their own hands to ruin their business you're here claiming it's the OP's fault.

Nowhere in the world will you shop online in a supposedly serious company that they would take 7 days to deliver the product IN THE SAME COUNTRY.

This is a company quoted on the New York Stock Exchange that wants to be taken serious.

you probably wouldn't understand. FYI most vendors don't own the items they upload on the platform, and so will only know it's out of stock when they go to purchase it. On konga you simply call the customer and inform them, sometimes they ask for alternatives or outright cancelation(win win)
You also aware people buy items on jumia, use it as they like and return it to the vendor, jumia refunds them and most of the time without compensation to the vendors, they deserve that too?

I sell on jumia and I am being as objective as possible, jumia doesn't give 2 efs about its vendors because new ones abound .
