Building Services is a discipline that deals with the engineering in building facilities or utilities that ensure a building facility is safe, comfortable and habitable for people.

Imagine a 7 star hotel not having light, power, lift, toilets, AC, CCTV, or communication devices, it is inhabitable, not comfortable and insecure.

That is why this industry is largely sought out for in the world especially where development can be seen. This then means there will be need of skilled persons who will take charge of the building services design, project execution, commissioning and maintenance operations.

In summary, engineers will be needed before, during and after a building is built. That makes this industry lucrative, one of the highest employer of labour after banking. It requires the services of both skilled and unskilled labours.

In Nigeria, major development areas are Lagos, Portharcourt, Abuja, Kano while others are coming up. The services of engineers are required in proposed, ongoing and existing projects. No matter the number of trained engineers presently, it can't be enough as there are many areas people specialised in the industry viz:
