Global variant comes with plenty 4G frequency bands, while the Chinese comes with limited/few 4G frequency bands.

China version has popular Chinese apps pre installed and no Google apps. Global version has Google Play app store and is the recommended option if you don't live in China.

I read that the Chinese version is for those in China because the language installed is in Chinese while the global version is for foreigners outside China. So the language installed is in English.

I think you can detect it by going to about phone in phone setting section of the phone. Or you contact/tag phone gurus here like atheistandproud, he will help you

Go to the aboit phone section of your phone. If it's a global device. It would be written there. Also, where the arrow is pointed,

MI - Global
IN - Indian(made for Indian markets)
CN - Chinese
EU - European

These are the popular ones.
