Senate Confirms Buratai, Olonisakin, Others As Non-Career Ambassadors by November1857(op): 11:55am On Feb 23, 2021

Senate, Tuesday confirmed former Chief of Army Staff, Tukur Buratai; former Chief of Defence Staff, Gabriel Olonisakin; former Chief of Air Staff, Ibok Ibas; and former Chief of Naval Staff, Abubakar Sadique as non-career

President Buhari had on the 5 of February, sent their names to the senate to be confirmed as non-career ambassadors.

Nigerians had condemned their nomination, noting that it was a plan to shield them from prosecution by the International Criminal Court (ICC) for alleged abuses committed by the Nigerian military under their watch.

The way Buratai and others were confirmed is the same way Lauretta will be confirmed as INEC director no matter the protestations of her adversaries. Even the northerners who were nominated along with her are on wait mode because baba must prevail.

What's the essence of making them ambassadors? I still don't get the rational behind the conferment?
They've been retired and so they should remain so after all they ain't the first to be relieved of their national duty or responsibility....to think they didn't even bring a reduction or end to insurgence or insecurities during their time.
