The Presidency has said the immediate past Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, Godwin Emefiele, would have faced a firing squad if he were from China.


President Bola Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, said Emefiele and his gangs committed egregious misappropriation that would not be allowed in China.

Onanuga was reacting to the Special Investigation on CBN and Related Entities, Chargeable Offences report.


Jim Obazee’s report indicted Emefiele of misappropriating funds while he was CBN governor.

The report claimed that the former CBN governor opened bank accounts without the approval of the apex bank’s Board of Directors and Investment Committee.

According to the report, Emefiele illegally lodged billions of naira in about 593 bank accounts in the United States, United Kingdom, and China.


Obazee disclosed that Emefiele deposited £543,482,213 in fixed deposits in UK banks alone without authorisation

Posting on X, Onanuga wrote: “If Godwin Emefiele and his gang had committed these egregious misappropriations in China, they will by now be facing the firing squad for high treason.”

If Nigeria was a sane country, Bayo onanuga and his gang of ethic bigots should have been in jail for the killing, maiming, destruction of lives and properties of people believed to be from a particular ethnic group because of their democratic choice

If Nigeria was a sane country, Bayo Onanuga together with his gang of ethic bigots should have been handed over to the ICC, where they will be tried and jailed for crimes against humanity

It is easy to make noise like that when it's another person that is involved. If he is fired, those who were said to be involved in drugs and certificate forgery would be allowed to preside over other people freely Abi? Or you think people are not aware how Logos treasury was milked and is still being milked by some persons?

I'm surprised how we all agree on this. Emefiele's main crime was his attempt to stop Tinubu from becoming the President, not all these things they are crapping here.

South East is what you're calling sad yeast. I know nothing will happened, but I made bold to say, if a south Easterner should call South West, Sad waste , he or she will immediately be ban for atleast 20 years by that partisan mod.

Nairaland owner and those working with it should keep on continue to encourage tribal slurs, so far it's against a particular tribe, but if the same tribe retaliate, that's when one mod suddenly remember that the post can be deleted and the defaulter can be banned forever.

What will tinubu face. This onanuga forget that nobody fit try that shit in China. From person that gave him go ahead to the last person that involved in it, they will all face firing squad. No peace for d past wicked president in China,and their wicked cousin giving orders. I still stand on it, cashless policy is d best for masses once we can adapt. Just that is easy to deceive us by politicians because of hunger in the land. They know it won't favour them, so they use masses to win it. And many of us still believe politicians did us favour. Lol. If the cbn stand on it, and any bank that caught giving money to big men should be close down or pay hefty fine, Nigeria will be fine. There won't be reason why we won't know what our politicians have as there account balance.

The former CBN governor is like every nigerian from the top to the bottom.If they were to use firing squad to kill currupt nigerians, nobody will be left out.Its the value system,it has to change,so that the mentality of Nigerians will equally change as well.
