The comments saying the south keke riders pay over a thousand a day should know why people like MC Olumo are super rich thugs and society big wigs irrespective of the fact that he is a common street thug!.

If the kano transport riders have reservations about the charge and the means of payment, it's their God given right to contest it.

Just because you are used to overtaxation in the South doesn't undermine the hustle in the North.

kano is a modern beautiful metro.

God bless kwankwaso for majority of this works and Ganduje too for completing some of them.

Up Arewa!!!
Are you aware that those same Kano residents would still pay #100 just to make a deposit in the bank (if cbn policy is for all) because of the economic reality on ground

Yet the place where they generate the money doesn't collect tax up to #100 before now.

Now can you tell me what kind of economy would function like this if indeed Kano was to be feeding itself

Wow so 100 naira as daily tax on keke in the north is over taxation.

I see why Nigeria is not progressing, the South keeps working and generating the needed funds while the north benefits. Kai!

It's like saying dubai can't develop without high taxes.

Everything to you lots is South vs North!.

The oil that you are there beating chest about has lost its place of value in the world.

So shut it with that!

It's only because of our lazy political class that we are still dependent on crude oil, and that's why the country is unable to achieve anything since the advent.

The only curse in Nigeria is the crude oil discovered in the South!

What has it benefitted the home states producing it? absolutely nothing but bone wrenching poverty, suffering and subjugation to the elites and oil coys that only enjoy the resources.

The oil has lost its value but your politicians are still scheming on how to come up with new government kidnaps for oil ransom

And in your warped sense of revenue generation you think it's only be collecting #1000 per keke that Kano can feed itself.

Your crass ignorance on avenues for taxation is clear.

Besides, the keke riders are mostly beneficiaries of government's empowerment schemes to low income earners and the unemployed in the state and it's a loan/repayment scheme that was largely successful under the kwankwaso administration and it has taken a lot of thugs and unemployed citizens out of a bad situation.

So, the taxes are not the issue here per se... the illicit bump in rates and a new payment system that will decrease valuable productivity hours is what the riders are protesting.

Even in France, the yellow vest labour strikes that swept the country last year were on working conditions and raised taxes.

it's a right! it's not about kano or #100

You are not making sense and you don't seem too conversant with the way the government operates.

This is beer parlour kind of comment.

No time for empty arguments, cheers!

So it is now Kano is raising tax of the biggest public transport sector in it's state to #100, In my "village" Keke pays more that that

Yet Kano would miraculously be churnning quota figures to measure up with port-harcourt and Lagos State when internal revenue list comes out

Lord Luggard should be given another flesh in hell so he can burn again

The Issue is way more than the N100. Be reading now instead of this unnecessary venom.
They don't want to go to the bank/Remita just to pay N100. So just to pay N100 they have to go to bank, queue and waste time and all that. Hence they are asking for an alternative.

Crude oil that you say is worthless to the world now is sold at 64 dollars per barrel. So 64 dollars is worthless yet you keep going to Abuja every month end for bambiala from FG.
The crude hasn't benefited the states that produce it because leeches like you that produce and generate nothing is benefiting from it.

Kano with over 10 million persons generate less than Edo and Enugu thats not up to Kano combined both in landmass and population.

You rather be a leech than working to generate funds for yourself.

Nonsense!

So government will build and maintain roads with their piss?

Where will the money come to build needed infrastructure and maintain peace and order if not from tax and other things?

100 naira per day is what they are crying about while down south thats a meagre sum. This is 100 naira we are talking about not 1000 naira. In most states they pay nothing less than 500 naira per day.

They are lucky they are in Kano, because looking at the empty roads its obvious keke is the main means of Transport. They should come try this shit in PH, they'll regret it because Taxi and Bus guys will cash out big time.

So you support high tax in other parts of the country.

Down south we are punishing ourselves with high cost of living and poor city planning. A staff of federal school travelled to Kano last month and was wowed by cheap transport fare and tarred roads. The distance she pays #150 to #200 in Benin City was #30 in Kano and you are not allowed to carry additional two passengers at the front. Down here in the south, you see our so called educated zombies being forced to take a sit on the additional constructed sit at the front borne out of our greed and carelessness to safety. Our governors in the south must wake up.
