MummyD2020: The N100 will be paid to the government via remita. 1.Since many are not literate, they will first go to the cyber cafe to generate RRR.(the cyber cafe will charge for this) 2.Then they will have to go queue up at the bank daily to make this payment. Imagine the hours that will be spent queuing at the bank and being unable to operate till you make that payment. So, they might spend 3-4 hours daily trying to pay "N100" in order to operate. How many productive hours do we have during the day to warrant this on a daily basis. Mind you, this is separate from all the other dues and taxes they already pay to the taskforce. 3 Likes |

Jerryherd: Why can't you guys just read the darn thing?? It says that the Keke operators didn’t say they wouldn’t pay the 100naira levy. The govt demanded that they should be going to the bank or use REMITA to pay the amount everyday nd it will cause them over 2k nd wahala. They’re requesting the govt. to collect the levy manually to save them time. Of course the Kano state govt wouldn't trust anyone of theirs to be in charge of the N100 collection daily and thus the need to refer the Keke operators to go the bank and pay the tax... Talk about APC corruption 1 Like |

Mikecold: Most people are saying just #100. I'm on ground here. These guys have been paying taxes of different charges. Even the increment of 100 isn't a problem to them. But government said they should be paying in the bank or REMITA. Imagine the stress to go to the bank to pay just 100 when they should be on the streets hustling? They agreed to pay manually. But government insisted otherwise. Hence the strike action |

The comments saying the south keke riders pay over a thousand a day should know why people like MC Olumo are super rich thugs and society big wigs irrespective of the fact that he is a common street thug!. If the kano transport riders have reservations about the charge and the means of payment, it's their God given right to contest it. Just because you are used to overtaxation in the South doesn't undermine the hustle in the North. kano is a modern beautiful metro. God bless kwankwaso for majority of this works and Ganduje too for completing some of them. Up Arewa!!! 2 Likes 1 Share |

Babzrockman:Whether they pay through remita is their cup of tea. How can a supposed city be charging tax of #50 for businesses before now, when mere banks charges goes beyond that for mere debit. They would be charging gworo fee and waiting for free oil money to come fund their excesses |

For those justifying why Kano keke should be paying #10 as tax, hope you realize that with the current economic reality of Nigeria if every state was suppose to exist on its own that tax can not take Kano anywhere. This is the same Kano that it's citizens would still be paying #65 for a mere debit charge in ATM or #100 just to make deposit. |
