What I don't get is that how can you reject an anthem in Yoruba, when the Ijaws (at least the Apois) ONLY speak Yoruba, the Apoi dialect specifically. Also Apoi claim distant origin from Ile-Ife, so I'm inclined to believe that they aren't the ones making the most noise in Ese Odo.

My guess is that the much of the noise is probably coming from the Arogbo Ijaws, the other Ijaw clan in Ondo. They are actually dwarfed in number by the larger Apoi and settled after the Apois, so they were able to retain their Ijaw language. They are probably the ones making much of the noise. Torhukerhijo is clearly an Arogbo man, so I can see where his grievances are coming from.
