Bro I would like to know if your NIN slip was accepted for verification cos that is all I have for now too
They've approved my means of identity I submitted, NIN slip. I want to do the video verification today.

I'll advise you use your real picture as DP before you submit the slip.

Hello house glad I stumbled on this thread.. I developed interest in I.T early last year and btw then and now, I have learnt Sql and basics of Powerbi, sometime last month got an MCSA in “developing sql” . The big question is “am I ripe enough to start taking jobs on Upwork “? The big challenge is not having many database files to practice with .
2. Is the data visualization space on Upwork saturated (having too many competition)
3. Should I learn a language I.e python before trying out Upwork..
Would appreciate an answer .. once again really glad I saw this thread
You can learn on the job, it won't be a very easy task but it's possible, i learnt some frameworks on the job, infact I learnt on the job for most of the early jobs i got on upwork, but then you still need to develop yourself to atleast a junior level before taking jobs.

I don't know about data visualizations but you can search upwork and try to see yourself the ratio of people that apply to the jobs.

Negative reviews doesn't necessarily mean bad feedback or low rating, when a client ends a job there is a section upwork asks the client if they will recommend you to others, it's on a scale of 1-10, if the client chooses anything less than 8, it might affect your jss score, especially if you don't have a lot reviews (i.e if you haven't worked with a lot of clients that has given you 9/10 or 10/10 in the past), so if you don't have lot of jobs completed with feedback anything less than 8 there will have great impact on your jss score.

What you can always do is be 99% sure that clients are 99% happy with your work. To know if a client is satisfied with your work, when you are done with the client work asks him/her if there are anything else they want you to do or if there are any changes they want you to make, some clients may not be satisfied with what you are done but just proceed to end the contract because they don't want to stress you or complain, where they catch you is the "recommendation page" where they will select 7/10. Other clients ( mostly new clients) don't know that anything lower than 8 on that page might affect your jss. What you can always do is hint this clients before they end the project ( if you are sure you satisfied them), tell them anything less than 9 on that page will affect your score. ( it's against upwork rule to force them), so just know how you will put it to them just to make them aware. Worked for me a lot of times

@crazeworld getting jobs with 76% jss score might not be a very easy task, what you can do is reach out to clients you have worked with in the past, ask them if they have any job ( even if it's $20 gig), let them rehire you. This will help your jss score, upwork values when a client rehires you.

Not get job
Re: Upwork Thread (Questions/Help/Advice) by Crazeworld(m): 3:50pm On Feb 22, 2021
@codedboy95, I'm trying to get a previous client to hire me like you advised. I made him hire me last year for $5 to get my first job.

Should I ask him to post the job so I can apply or he should just hire me directly?

Codedboy95, how does Upwork charge clients for manually imputed time? I did 120$ last week but my acc is still showing 0$ as at today. I thought it will be deducted automatically from clients card.

if you are not a top rated freelancer, it will take approximately a week and 3 days to get your first hourly payment from a client. Which means you will be able to withdraw your money next week Wednesday. If you go to report page , you will see that the money is 'in review'. After the first payment you will continue to receive hourly work payment every Wednesday ( work for the previous week)

Thanks for your response. I have further questions
1. Is the W8BEN foreign status certificate compulsory for Nigerians

2. Which of the payment method is the best

1) Yes, it's compulsory, it's nothing special, just you putting in your name.

2)Sending your $ to domicilary account ( but this takes few days), I actually use Payoneer, funds get in almost immediately and i can sell the funds at almost black market rate here on nairaland

Upwork: Abduljelil Akande
Payoneer: Akande Adeola

Can I still link it like that?
not sure, upwork most times don't allow to use bank account name that's different from your upwork name, but you can try

Hi, can you modify your first comment on this thread and remove the link to my upwork profile, I am deciding not to disclose that again. Thanks

Upwork is tricky, you have to serve a niche when starting, trying to get Frontend jobs like Angular is like OYO. Look for niche services. These days platform skills earn more money than tech skills. Magento developer, Moodle Developer, people want to operate things on their platform so if you can learn a d extend those platforms you are in money. Thats my honest advice. I've only done few jobs on Upworks but haven't earned as much as others sha. Laziness na my case, still on 800$ but like I say if you can sell directly you will make much more. Its just you have to build something which takes time. Some of you can partner up and sell items on Envato. I'm saying this, because I often research Envato authors and I notice they work in team but some are single. When I settle down I'll write something here

Please do

Please if my profile is reading Android developer, can I apply for gig under Machine Learning or Testing or just another niche? Does this show unprofessionalism?
I am asking because there are times that I do see some feasible gig in another niche.

You can apply for another niche, though it is preferable to have at least one portfolio for that niche even if it is a personal project it helps convince the user. though ML and Android are far apart, if you know it, you will have to convince them that you do.

Thanks for the response.
I was only using ML as an example, it is just some simple tasks like scraping that might be group under ML.
