Abini2012:

Corrected 206M to 1M vaccines, a drop in the ocean. It is sad indeed.

Interestingly, the population of the UK according to Worldometer stands at 68,107,747 today but the UK has ordered 407 million doses of seven of the most promising vaccines - three of which have so far been approved for use. (BBC)

Funny fact: Even if we get this meagre amount of the vaccine it will be administered only to the elites - Ministers, Ex governors and presidents,high-profile government officials and anyone in their cycle. While the rest of the population will be given endless promises of an effective vaccine which they will never set eyes on.

That said, I hope you have no plans of coming back home permanently as that would be a regretable mistake.

Abini2012:

You must sabi the book by force cheesy
Seriously,my husband is in the academics and there is no day he does not lament about the educational sector in Nigeria.

The ease of study and access to materials is top notch..

There is a reciprocal scheme called SCONUL. The scheme covers most of the university libraries in the UK. It allows many university library users to borrow or use books and journals at other libraries which belong to the scheme.
So a student of Heriot-Watt can borrow or use books from the library of University of Manchester and vice versa..

You now see what is meant when we say Nigeria is poor in knowledge.

Tell your hubby I am with him please.

Wow, so detailed and interesting. Great job @Abini2012
I'm Bristol bound and I've been feeling discouraged lately but something is evident in your write-ups, you're strong-willed and I'm going to emulate that. Looking forward to more updates.

Hi, have you posted this in the UK student thread? Reach out to your school's student forum maybe someone has room to share. Also, like my husband school, they have Nigeria students' forum so check if your school has same.

I pray you get sorted. All the best

Thank you so much..

Don't be discouraged, you have already taken the step so you might as well plunge in. Hopefully, things return to some semblance of normalcy soon and you can hit the ground running.

Updates coming

First visit here we went to Portobello beach, this beach is from Fisher Row in Musselburgh.

There's something soothing about walking on the beach, staring into the distance and generally being at peace with nature.

This oyibo life don dey enter my body. I'll be doing this more often

An Automated External Defibrillator (AED) or defibrillator is a life saving device that can help save the life of someone experiencing a sudden cardiac arrest. They are easy to use, portable, with clear step-by-step instructions so anyone can use them, from a bystander to a trained professional.

All workplaces, schools, and public buildings are encouraged to have a defibrillator on site.

We hear or know of people who suddenly develop cardiac arrest and drop dead in offices or other public places, if this life saving device was in place maybe it would have made a difference. Just pondering..

This water sneaks through the city. It runs for 22 miles where it flows past Port Leith, into the Firth of Forth.

Dean Bridge. Built around 1829-1831.. links Edinburgh to Queensferry.

Also names Bridge of Sighs has it recorded quite a number of suicides.

Engineers might find it's construction quite an interesting read

Hygeia, goddess of health, had a natural spring that was close down because the water was unhygienic. Isn't it ironic? grin

So I read about her and found this;
Hygeia was the ancient Greek goddess of health. ... Hygeia was a young goddess, daughter and chief attendant to Asklepios, the god of medicine. She was in charge of cleanliness and how to live a long life (preventive medicine). She also had two other medical sisters: Panacea ('Cure-All') and Iaso ('Remedy').

St Bernard's Well

3rd pic: "The liberal deviseth liberal things" taken from Isaiah 32:8, KJV: "But the liberal deviseth liberal things; and by liberal things shall he stand."

NIV says : "But the noble make noble plans, and by noble deeds they stand."

What decisions have you taken in a challenging country like ours, if they are noble, stand by it.

Stockbridge Bridge, erected in 1786, widened and improved in 1800.

I thought a naked man was bathing in the middle of the river but on closer look I realised it was a sculpture.
