It's not young, must have been a lion with some form of dental injuries, hence the reason it's mane is not well developed or pronounced. When lions have dental injuries, they can't hunt animals with thick hides so they result to weaker preys like humans and domestic animals. There by becoming man eaters

However, let’s not forget that these are endangered species and they’re gradually going extinct. And even if the lion didn’t attack anyone, it would still have been hunted and killed for meat, fun or just bragging rights.
And if we carry on like this; our children will only get to know these animals from books and never in real life. Not to mention the significantly negative impact on our ecosystem.
