How most Nigerians borrow and still have the guts to say something came up that is why they can't pay, imagine if terms and conditions say one dies a minute late to paying back a loan they wont hesitate to pay.

When it's time to borrow they are happy to pay is when they start dodging.

Don't borrow when you can't pay,if you have nothing to sell to service a debt don't borrow. Anything you see take am

The bolded is not entirely true .. Wait till you work with the credit dept of a finance firm then your opinion will change.
As far back as 2013...group of experts did a research and it was observed that Nigerians are one of the hardest people on earth to do credit business with because majority of Nigerians don't naturally keep to loan agreements and don't like to pay back loan... You know this is true.. Once any customer accepts any loan offer and signs the contract letter.. They are bound by the terms and conditions of the Contract..problem Here is.. Most Nigerians don't read.. If they take time to read some loan offer letters.. Most will not sign it except they are desperate for cash..
I worked in the credit department of a finance firm for 5 years... And now I work in the recovery department of a financial Institution for 2 years+...and I can tell you this..most Nigerians are just bad people when it comes to paying back loans.. They would be all humble and calm when requesting for loan but once they get it.. They turn to tigers and lions and behavior changes.. Except a few.. I have seen.. I speak from experience.. However.. There are other loan recovery methods that should not resort to what these online loan apps do... But from the experience I have.. Once customers miss their due dates..if not handled immediately and in a very strict manner.. It would lead to the beginning of a bad and delinquent loan.. In Nigeria... Debtors majorly pay only those who disturb them the most and give them sleepless nights. Give someone a loan and forget to remind them of them of their payments.. And they will deliberately not pay with the excuse that you did not remind them... Any finance person can confirm this.. I can go on and on
I rest my case...
In all, Let's try to honour loan contracts and do all we can to pay on or before due dates as not all firms will be tolerant enough to listen to excuses and such repayments determines if the loan firm will survive or not..
I can mention finance firms that have closed shop due to bad loans resulting from customers not making payments.

Truly you are speaking from experience...most Nigerians would rather not pay back a loan even when they have the money to do so

My question is how do these loan companies gain access to their customers' phone contact?

I just received a message from 9credit about my neighbour owing them and had to google and then found myself here. They even said that my neighbour is fraudulent. Nawa o!

May we not see issues that will get us to the extent of taking online loan in Jesus name, Amen.

Those defending 9Credit can go ahead, no problem. Only pray you don't fall into the hands of shameless entities, whether loan companies or individuals.

But, how do you defend a 7-day loan tenor that suddenly changed to 6 days? Such is their handiwork.

Those of you who claim Nigerians don't read are actually the ones who don't read.
It's not in their agreement to use your contact info to relate with 3rd party.its against Google play privacy policy to share or use someone information.and it's against CBN guildlines on debt recovery.you can't call anyone a theif without that person taken to a reputable court of law and found guilty of the charge for stealing or froude.
The business is not for everyone.the economy with covid wahala people with the best of intentions will collect any kind of relief to get by to payback when they have money which sometimes does not work out as planned.
So if you support that rubbish, it's says a lot about the kind of person you are.
And remember they know what they are doing is wrong that's why they don't have an office.

I'm going through it o, borrowed from Lcredit in April, I've been paying interest on interest, I pay 11500 every 2weeks to Lcredit, which is 23000 per month out of 35k salary, because of a 40k loan, and I don't want to borrow higher to pay as the loan will keep going up.
Now I'm fed up, because of 40k I've paid this people 115k, and they want to still keep collecting it, Im scared of them sending messages to my contacts, but at this point, I'm wondering if I won't let go like this, as I'm meant to pay again today, but I don't have, will I go and borrow again?
They're killing me softly, I wonder if they'll agree for me to pay little by little.
Just confused.

You guys want to wreck loan companies. It is the same way you will borrow a friend money and they will start hating or threatening you.
Now that you have met your match, you are crying fowl. You claim 3000 Naira is little, yet you refused to pay it. You even wanted them to call you to ask why you haven't paid.

I am sure they issued you warnings which you ignored.

Loan companies are not your relations. If you want to borrow money that you intend not to pay back or expect the creditors to grovel at your feet, I suggest you borrow from your family or friends.

You have never dealt with a debtor in Nigeria.
There is nobody to complain to. If you go to court over 3000 Naira, do you know how much it costs
to hire a lawyer?
How many months of litigation over N3000 that someone refuses to pay?
The court can't even recover the money if the debtor claim to be indigent.

Do you think you are dealing with your friends here?
Don't be naive. If I take a loan and don't want to pay for the next 10 years. There are ways to go about it.

Wait till when?
When people invest they expect profit not loss. I haven't forget how many were boasting of defrauding loan companies on this platform.
I love how these loan companies are dealing with irresponsible borrowers. Immediately they take a loan, they think they must be worshipped
and begged before they will pay back.

Don't defraud loan companies and your image will be intact. Borrow from your family and friends, it is that simple.

And all you are trying to say is that 9Credit did well to contact all their customer's contacts and tag them thieves and fraudsters because they are unable to pay after 24 hours not even 2days or 1 week.

A loan company that will give your 4k and ask for 6,500 in 7 days and if you miss a few hours payment then you have yourself to blame. Anyway, he who support evil shall be welcomed by it. I don't know how rich you are but one day you will understand in one way or the other.

No one borrows without the intention of paying back but my brother somethings are inevitable, what you know is today but what happens tomorrow is what you can't predict.
Oga, this is not a matter of being rich. Do not put sentiments.
Those monies the loan company gave you belong to investors. People place money for fixed period and interest. They then give you the money at a percentage markup. If you default because of your personal problems how will the loan company return the investors money? Abi the company should give excuses? If it were you will accept excuses?
Nigerians will be sober when they need loans, they have no expectant funds they will use to repay, but will still go ahead and collect the loan hoping by miracle money will come to use to pay. Most don't even have intention of paying. When the loan company "dasi" rough with you you start to complain.
I have been offered as much as 500k from several loan companies( because I built my credit rating by fulfilling my responsibilities) but will not collect a dime unless I am sure of expectant money to return.
Oga, before they will send such messages they would have made several efforts to reach you to pay all in futility.
Folks defaulting are those making the Nigerian market expensive to finance. That is why you see high interest rates. The risk is high.
If you cannot pay, do not collect or apply for loans! Take from your relatives.
If you don't want disgrace or embarrassing text to your contacts, respect yourself and pay when due. PERIOD!

See how It works is that loan recovery is outsourced to another company. You have the loan company and you then have the debt chasers. Once there is default, the company passes it to the other folks to do the wahala. Those debt recovery companies are the "nasty bunch" that do the dirty work.

Guy... I borrow loans more than u.. mine is even from. People that know my house ...

In jan I borrowed 200k and paid back in March 240k. In March I borrowed 300k and payed back 45 in May....

Now am on a 1million naira loan to pay 1.4m in 12months.. so u can't tell me about loans and needs to borrow...

I later found out that having earnings or getting profit from bizness with which one borrows loan does not equate to effective payback...

Payback is a spirit. If u don't have it , u don't have it. Even if u borrowed just 200 naira, u still won't pay back..

So guy, build ur rep, and stop running away from. Repayment.. u succeeded in blaming everyone but yourself.. bad borrower!

By the way, pretty good stuff, I've read it and can agree with it in almost every aspect. All of this is hard enough to understand, moreover, there are not many places with a really good option, so you should pay attention to even the little things, which is why I trust only proven places like fitmymoney.com. As for me they have long ago won our trust with their work...
