Unfortunately, the government of the day honors and values killer herdsmen, bandits and so called repentant bombers than these intellectual giants.
The government of the day has dashed the hopes of many intellectuals due to tribalistic and nepotistic appointments.

Nigeria! O My Motherland!
I am sure the academics in those Northern Universities are from the South.
Re: 71 Nigerian Scientists Among Top 2% Globally - Statisense by Wickedfacts: 4:02pm On Mar 06, 2021
UI alone has more than the entire North.
The North needs to move towards science and technology and stop this foolishness it currently engages in.

Disappointed in the level of education in Nigeria that nobody asked how many people total are in the top 2%. The top 2% may be made of 71,000 people for all we know, at which point having 71 people in the top 2% is not impressive.

There are hundreds of thousands of academics in this world so don't be surprised if the number I mentioned is not far from the truth.

Edited - as suspected, there are over 48,000 in that list of top 2% academics, and there are only 71 Nigerians there. That is a shameful stat relative to our population as a percentage of World population

Ui is always first in everything Nigeria. Abeg who dey do juju for UI. OAU don porshue porshoe UI tire dey don give up. I comot yansh for Recte safere fons!
Where were you when OAU was toping the list of best universities for years. The same OAU will join UI students in competition and trash them. OAU lecturer might be old fashioned and conventional in their approach, but the university has a system that groom student into hardworking and academic success. OAU graduate are leading everywhere.

Handouts and bragging about how people don't pass their course. Mumu people
Do you have the same facilities in private and public universities? Most of the lecturers in public universities are not well paid and use their meagre salary for publication and research.

But all those scholars in Covenant and Landmark came from other universities.

They have just benefitted from the work of others.

Slow down, most of those eggheads were poached from the old universities. With that said, Oyedepo has done well.

Myth - which list of top universities & when did they top for years? OAU guys are the traditional noisemakers among Nigerian universities & the loudest among them are totally clueless about other universities, that's a known fact. Good school but plagued with mostly substandard lecturers for decades grin

What's the meaning of "OAU graduate are leading everywhere"? Which fields are they leading? Lol
