Disappointed in the level of education in Nigeria that nobody asked how many people total are in the top 2%. The top 2% may be made of 71,000 people for all we know, at which point having 71 people in the top 2% is not impressive.

There are hundreds of thousands of academics in this world so don't be surprised if the number I mentioned is not far from the truth.

Edited - as suspected, there are over 48,000 in that list of top 2% academics, and there are only 71 Nigerians there. That is a shameful stat relative to our population as a percentage of World population

Actually there are 150,000 in total 2%. What you cited was for a program.

Truly, Nigeria's showing was poor. But Ghana had it worse with only 4 making the list.

True. Our universities are generally substandard and they hardly transform anybody by passing through them. Schools traditionally known for consistent high admission cut off marks for competitive courses like Unilag and UI will naturally have the more concentration of graduates at the higher echelon. While buoyant new universities can easily snatch outstanding academics from other universities into their faculties.

These are the people that should be funded to carry out research work that will benefit the country but no,billions of naira must be given to some illiterate herdsmen because their kinsman is in power !

Nigeria is a failed country.

The problem with people like you is that you are thick, dumb and ignorant with regard to what it means to be a democracy.

Your thick skull cannot understand that democracy is turn by turn and will not always favour you.

Buhari is a problem for you, so your solution is ''the country is failed!! Let's break up!!''

No part of your dull brain thinks ''ok, this is a democracy. His term's up in under 2 years. Let me join forces with like-minded citizens to vote him out of office and get in someone whose policies are more favourable to me''.

That is what folks in the US did, despite Trump trashing their nation on a daily basis, openly supporting killer racist neo nazi groups, describing them as ''good people'' to mass outrage, among other assaults on public sensibilities.

NOT ONCE did we hear Americans lament ''our country is failed. Let's break up!!''

Instead, they organised and voted Trump out of office.

Finish.

So you and your fellow thick skulls and dullards who act as if Nigeria is some sort of life presidency for Buhari/Fulani people, with ''breakup'' the only option, need to go back to your villages and FARM, or TAP PALM WINE, because that is as far as your intellect can take you.

Ridiculous people.

Ridiculous people indeed! And you don't think you're the one being ridiculous here or is it because you have little or no idea of America's history? FYI, America led by the Democrats party majorly, wanted out of the Union just because the Lincoln administration outlawed slave trade. Just because of slave trade. Not because of killings and kidnappings and favouring the perpetrators, not because of acute and alarming level of greed and corruption, not because of tribalism.

If Nigerian government as an institution wants us to stop talking about division et cetera, then they need to make us feel equal on all grounds. Outside of this, Nigerians will keep clamouring for any escape route out of this unholy, unproductive, monstrous and disastrous union they're presently.

Is this a deliberate effort to advertise your stupidity for all to see or a sheer display of how low some of you pay - per -post e-rats could go to get the crumbs from the paymaster's table ?

Obviously, you're just another feather headed slowpoke who lacks the intellectual capacity to deliver on the image laundering assignment for which you're primarily recruited. You must therefore, resort to name callings and all sort of senseless diatribes to hide your incompetence and to impress your supervisors. You're a failure just like your paymasters.

An intelligent person would have debunked my claims with superior argument that's devoid of senseless verbal attacks. But then, you can't give what you don't have - a feebleminded slowpoke !

How would you not regard a draconic and highly nepotistic regime like that of Mr Buhari as a democracy when you've never experienced one in your miserable life ! It is only sensible to pardon your ignorance and overlook your stupid display of idiocy. Even if you have never left the shore of Nigeria to have a first hand experience of what's called a democracy, don't you watch Television too ? What part of hell did you escape from cave man ?

How else would anyone define a failed state if everything that is happening in Nigeria now is not enough to call it a failed country ? Of course, you have been blinded by petty nepotism, just like your principal in Aso rock, You therefore, can't see all the signs of a failed country staring at your demonic faces.

This display of idiocy comes to full glare when ninnies like you dabble into a subject matter that's beyond your elementary pedigree. How dare you compare Trump to Buhari or electoral process in the U S to scam in Nigeria ? Haven't you read Kawu Baraje's account of the elections that brought in Buhari as the President of Nigeria ? Is that what you call a democracy ? Fulanis from Niger,Chad,Mali,Senegal etc were brought in to perpetrate civilian coup against Nigerians in their country !

You're just a redundant rapscallion that's unworthy of my time and attention. Nigeria is a failed state ! You can use the hose and noose method to end your pitiable life if you're that pained, fool !

I'm done with you cow !

I received an email requesting that i attend a conference at japan by october this year to give a brief lecture on my research work. Underate LAUTECH at your own peril.
