I just want a lot of people to learn from my experience look before you leap.

I got 3 employment letter last year, and to resume the same day. Two on the mainland and one on the island.

One of the two on the mainland has a better salary than the other two, so I went for the better salary, as an upcoming father.

But believe me I didn’t know that they were only using money to entice people and then tell them to leave at their own time.

I received the shocking of my life when I opened my mail on Thursday to do a handover to a colleague on Friday last week.

I couldn’t cry, but I just had to hold back my tears and I brought out my phone and looked at my 2month old baby and moved on.

My advice, please don’t be in a rush to chose a job or switch that job and lastly always be prayerful that God should direct your path.

That was how I lost the 3 jobs

I am sorry about your plight. I wonder why we don't have a regulatory body to protect the interest of employees. The same way some organization would expect their staff to put in a number of years before resigning should be the same way employees should put in certain number of years before being laid off (all things being equal).

Op, you just have to dust up your CV and get back to the labour market. The fact that you were able to secure 3 jobs at a go means you know your onions. I wish you all the best.

Thank you for this word of encouragement.

This one is probably your mistake, the job advert mast have stated that someone with experience is needed and you overlooked that.

Adebaba1:
I can relate bro, really sorry God will make a way

I left my previous job earlier this year to a new startup, the reason I left was because my previous workplace wasn't structured, it was a one man business, closed late most times 10pm, I stay at egbeda and work on the island, pay less than 100k, I already worked for 2years...I was really fed up that's why I left

I was excited to join the company, but it turned out to be a bad decision, in my previous office, we were working with a non familiar language, but I was learning java at the side, my new job was based on java so I was excited to join because I will gain more knowledge on the language and come in as an intern.

I didn't know I was to replace the java developer that was there. To cut the long story short, I was asked to leave the second week. It was really sad for me.

I had to talk some people to speak to my former boss about returning back. I actually didn't want to return but my parents asked me to.

Now I'm stuck till probably next year

Life is just a mystery

if it had been stated, would i bother to apply. moreover the salary for the role is N100k....intermediate java developer. i told him i started learning java on my own since last year january, he was like ok.

only for him to show me the exit door within the second week

It is well... God will open another door for you.

Think of it, If you could get 3 job offers at once in this harsh economy, God can do even more for you.

Amen

Thank you

Good day Nairalander,

For those who followed this thread and encouraged me.

https://www.nairaland.com/6426484/how-chose-wrong-job

So after alot of advice from the great people here.

I was advised to send mail to the remaining two job offer I rejected, which I did.

Company one replied that I should come for another interview and I did, but the offer was below what I was offered before, as they said they just wanted to help me, since they have employed somebody in my rejected offer.

So I rejected it, because I would have to work on Saturdays and close by 8pm.....

The second mail responded with a call..

Hello wunmi, I recieved your mail, unfortunately, your position has been given to another person, but I intend employing another hand soon, I will get back to you when I'm ready and if you are still available.

So I just forget about both of them, got another offer last month, but I just had to decline, pay was too low, sachet water is now N20.. how much will remain from me... so I declined the offer by mail again.....

Last week the second woman who promised to get back to me just messaged me, hello Wunmi good morning, are you still available to pick up your offer?

I just called her and told her, yes I'm available.

So she said we should meet and discussed.....

We discussed and ended up with salary review compared to what she gave me last, though it was 6digit, but it should be more than...

Told her if she doesn't review, it might tempt me to look elsewhere after 3 month or if I get good offer outside.... She looked at me and said you know I will still have yo review your offer after six month again..... But no worries let me just do it for you so that you won't run away after three month.

With better 6digit..

Thank you to omobola121

Thank you all for giving me hope and telling me to send mail to the two I rejected..

Lastly thank you lala for pushing this to front page for a wider view

I think it isn’t fair that the OP didn’t drop the name of the Company to save other NLders from same faith.

You have gotten advise from NLders and you now have a new job. The least you can do is mention the name of the company, so others don’t have to come here to create same thread.

Thank you bro, I will try, since November do you still think somebody wouldn’t have filled the position?
Eyaaa. This is touching. Just read your new post how trying paid off and I'm so glad u still made the effort. Making an attempt doesn't hurt and can lead to success, but living with the regret of not trying is terrible.
More wins Sir

it's unfortunate that as your father is the president, you are still improvised 😑.. tribalism have finished you'all into penury. Now that these foreign investors are leaving, how do you get a job. 🤡. 2024 would be a very long year. 😆
