kid will be a massive steal if he finally dorn our colors in fifa recognized match. he is massively talented and with him, ejaria and iwobi our AM position is sorted. eze can wait for a 3 lion call up as long as he wish

also is it possible for AC Milan's tomori to switch to us? kind have been doing well in italy in few of the games i saw him play. it won't hurt if the nff reaches out to him one more time because him breaking into the 3 lion squad seems mission impossible to me judging by the quality the english boast in his position on the pitch

what up with ejaria and lookman's switch? also heard torunarigha is in the bag as well

Coach Gernot Rohr says captain Ahmed Musa was given an honorary place in Nigeria's squad for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Benin and Lesotho.
The surprise inclusion of the 28-year-old, who has been inactive since leaving Saudi Arabian side Al Nassr in October, has sharply divided opinions in the country.
The speculation has forced Rohr to clarify and defend Musa's non-playing role as the 24th player.
"It's important to clarify that Musa is not in the competitive list of 23 players for our game against Benin and Lesotho," Rohr told BBC Sport Africa on Wednesday.
"We've invited Musa as the captain by making him the 24th player, but he is not as part of the 23 on the list that will play our two matches.
"What is important now is to focus on the games ahead and not to be distracted by anything else. We hope for all our prayers to be fit and travel down safely for the matches."
However Saudi Arabia-based striker Odion Ighalo is not included in the squad as he continues to consider a request from Rohr to come out of international retirement.
On the final match day, the West African nation will host Lesotho in the commercial city of Lagos on 30 March.
Three-time continental champions Nigeria currently top Group L on eight points, one ahead of Benin while Sierra Leone have three points and Lesotho two.

Nigeria squad:
Goalkeepers: Francis Uzoho (APOEL Nicosia, Cyprus); John Noble (Enyimba FC); Maduka Okoye (Sparta Rotterdam, The Netherlands)

Defenders: Kenneth Omeruo (CD Leganes, Spain); Leon Balogun (Glasgow Rangers, Scotland); Chidozie Awaziem (Boavista, Portugal); William Troost-Ekong (Watford, England); Olaoluwa Aina (Fulham FC, England); Jamilu Collins (SC Padeborn, Germany); Zaidu Sanusi (Porto, Portugal); Tyronne Ebuehi (Twente, The Netherlands)

Midfielders: Oghenekaro Etebo (Galatasaray, Turkey); Wilfred Ndidi (Leicester City, England); Abdullahi Shehu (Omonia Nicosa, Cyprus); Joseph Ayodele-Aribo (Glasgow Rangers, Scotland); Oluwasemilogo Ajayi (West Bromwich Albion, England)
Forwards: Alex Iwobi (Everton, England); Sadiq Umar (Almeria, Spain); Samuel Chukwueze (Villarreal, Spain); Victor Osimhen (Napoli, Italy); Kelechi Iheanacho (Leicester City, England); Samuel Kalu (Girondins Bordeaux, France); Moses Simon (Nantes, France)

Non-playing captain: Ahmed Musa (Unattached)

Standby: Daniel Akpeyi (Kaizer Chiefs, South Africa); Henry Onyekuru (Galatasaray, Turkey); Peter Olayinka (Slavia Praha, Czech Republic); Terem Moffi (Lorient, France); Paul Onuachu (KRC Genk, Belgium); Michael Olise (Reading, England); Adekunle Adeleke (Abia Warriors)

Press conference would have settled this issue, how can a list be released and we can not authoritatively say which player is which. Better still they would have written their names in full.
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by TheSuperNerd(m):
Like I told someone on twitter sometime ago as regards Tomori, the new rule says a player must have played in not more than 3 official games (excluding WC or Tournament finals) for a nation before he turned 21 to be considered "still eligible" for a switch.
Tomori made his England debut at age 21 yrs 10 months and 29 days. So Tomori was already 21. Although he has just one cap I think.

Also, I think he still fancies with chances with England. Afterall, he is doing it for AC milan which is a bigger club than Fulham will ever be. If Tosin at Fulham can still be harboring hopes of an England call-up then how much more Tomori who is seeing gametime at AC Milan in Serie A.

To answer your other questions on Lookman, Ejaria and Toru. Let me drop this....

These are the list of lads whose overall switch processes are still being held up for now:

- Kingsley Ehizibue (Passport issue)
- Ademola Lookman (Final FIFA Clearance + Passport)
- Nathan Tella (Passport process)
- Ovie Ejaria (Final FIFA Clearance + Passport)
- Jordan Torunarigha (Final FIFA Clearance + Passport)

And now...
- Michael Olise (passport process specifically).

So we wait on these. Hopefully Olise will be first in through the door then the others follow.

1. If home based players do well in continental competitions then they will have a chance in the national team

2 the time for home based players will still come. Roger is leaving next year and the next coach will favor them. Even now they still have a chance with Rohr.

3. If they must run to Europe the Greek league will be better. It is not too obscure and you can enter a top 10 league from there. It is better than latvia or lithuania

4. Home based players must do well when they are in Europe or in the national team. I mean taiye taiwo went from lobi stars to Marseille, finding george went from sharks to Ajax. The present generation of home based players must be able to do something like that.

5. I know they are good but they must prove it

wetin consign me with olisa ndah a dreadlocked defender that SE probably don't even need now. We have balogun, omeruo, awaziem, ekong at much better level than him. The position that SE is lacking the most is creative midfielders and for that reasons, we need Micheal olise, ejaria more than a CD position.

Throwback post.

Was feeling really nostalgic and decided to go through a previous thread from our catalogue of various NT threads.

Then I found this. Gotten from The Flying Eagles Thread (South Korea 2017).

Dated April 26, 2016.

The era that should have seen SADIQ Umar and Osimhen battle it out at U-20 level for the #9 shirt. Chief Icon4s will recall well. wink

Note: We eventually didn't qualify for the U-20 WC but certain players from that class have gone on to be in positions we hoped they will be in few years down the line.

See how far we have come in our discussions and analytical projections into the future. smiley

I also saw one by Icon4s on same South Korea U-20 thread where he specially picked out SADIQ Umar and Osimhen as "A-Class" level Teen Strikers.

So far so good, they are proving him right today.
Yeah. You are right actually. But I still feel Sadiq Umar has not really progressed as much as expected.

As for Onuachu, he has never really delivered in the national colors. The only thing worthy of note was the goal he scored against Egypt in a friendly, early in 2019.

I have seen comments in several media crucifying Rohr for putting him on standby, Onuachu's club performance has never been in doubt. But he has not been able to hit the right bottons when it comes to the national team.

Some would say Rohr should learn how to use him, but for me he should learn how to play with the other players. 3-4 days camping is not enough to change a whole team's playing stlye just to suit a particular player.

For me that was a fair list.

Onuachu has been consistent in Europe but he has not delivered in the national colors despite several invitations. Club football is different from national team football. Onuachu seems not to have settled down to the SE style of play.
For me, Sadiq Umar is another version of Onuachu in terms of physique but let's see if he will adapt better than Onuachu.
I am aware he has not delivered in the national team but the question still remains....why is he doing well in Europe?

Did Rohr take time to study him?

Why Umar when we have Moffi in Ligue 1? Is Rohr trying to tell us laliga 2 player is better than Ligue 1 player?

Besides, Umar is more skillful than Onuachu. Their style of play is totally different.

Francis Uzoho played all 90mins today and kept another clean sheet as he helped his side, Apoel Nicosia to a 1-0 2nd leg away win at Rivals, Omonia Nicosia in the Cyprus cup Quarters.

First leg ended 1-1 so Apoel progresses to the semi finals on a 2-1 aggregate win.

Shehu Abdullahi, normally a regular feature for Omonia, didn't feature at all. Was on the bench for all 90.

Uzoho's stats in all Competitions:

- 12 games played (9 league games; 3 cup games)
- 10 goals conceeded.
- 4 clean sheets.

Well done Super boy, Uzoho. wink

Kelechi Nwakali is progressing nicely in Alcorcon.
Just what he needs. Regular football in a decent league away from any noise or pressure.
This is from Alcorcon website

“Every day that passes I feel better. I come to help the club continue in the Second Division "

From the first minute with the Kelechi pottery sheepskin, he is offering very good feelings in the minutes he is playing. As is normal, he has needed a short period of adaptation to the team, but he has already shown numerous strokes of the magnificent qualities that he treasures in his legs.

https://www.adalcorcon.com/noticia/nwakali-venir-a-la-a-d-alcorcon-es-todo-un-reto-para-mi-estoy-muy-feliz

I think he should be left alone to develop his club career before he is called for the National team again maybe later this year.
He is getting the game time he needs and according to the website, he is doing well with the club.
With time he will mature to be a great player.
By next year things will change for him

Enyimba dominated this match but they gave away a silly penalty. If they can remove the naive mistakes they can be so good.
