over here
a plate of food is about 400 now, consider buying that twice or at most thrice a day that's about 1200 and you have the liberty of buying different food per course but going for cooking it might be a bit higher in cost but lasts more like two days but you'd have a monopoly of food which means you'd still have to buy another stuff 5 Likes |

I don't think so .....for years now I eat out I think it's cheaper I stay alone and when I do cook , I found myself over eating ....always going back to.the pot to eat more So a thousand and few hundreds a day is better than hours spent to cook and then wash plates and the rest. 5 Likes |

pocohantas: Your example/analysis makes one think it's actually cheaper. Shelve the energy and time involved (except one is busy with work). It makes sense to say cooking is way cheaper than eating outside (at least, in the long run). |

Haven't been home in a while, however, when i was around, yes, it was far cheaper. Also, every country I have been to in the last 5 years happens to be the same thing, cheaper to cook at home. The other day, I bought BBQ chicken of about 4 pieces at a mega mart for around 43, I checked the freshly packed chicken section, and I saw fully packed chicken of about 15 pieces for 73. Yes, frying might take some oil, however, its far cheaper and economical. Same super mart, you buy a small box of cooked rice for 15 or 20, and you get 10kg of uncooked rice for 110. Now if you cook the 10kg, am sure you will eat it like 25 times depending. 3 Likes |

I order Litres of different soups and protein, then make solid( in 10mins) and rice/beans myself. Cheaper and saves time. That way you can eat as much as you want even if you do 9 to 5, you can eat on time. This method works. 3 Likes |

Prussian: This If you are a big earner, the chances that it affords you less time to cook is actually high, and spending on buying food outside may not seem as expensive to you. There are caterers that sell a litre of soup for 4,500-6000, if you're a single person, chances are, if you spend 12k for soup and stew for instance, it will last you a month. Let's add another 20k, for other meals you may want to buy on occassion, that's 42k/month. Anyway, if you're making a thousand grand, things like this will not matter to you. 1 Like |

It depends on your work schedule, for the busy type, eating outside does it for me on weekdays. But weekends I arrange something for myself. |
