It is not about been a commercial city. It is still about the mentality of the people. An average Onitsha/ Anambra man is very price sensitive, especially the traders. They will rather use GUO at 15k than Arik air at 45k to fly from Lagos to Onitsha and return.

Anybody living in Onitsha will gladly fly to Asaba than using that Umuleri Airport with potential armed robbery menace on the airport road.

The siting of that airport in that area is a big minus. I come to Onitsha regularly and usually land in Asaba before moving to Onitsha. Why would I want to use an airport situated miles from Onitsha?

Considering the way people in that area behaves, I fear the security situation along that airport road. Airport road is usually targeted by robbers to rob people going or coming from the airports.

I am not hating o but if you ask me, the money should have been used to fix all the bad roads in Onitsha and Nnewi and give the cities a facelift in terms of beauty and livibility.

Onitsha is still far from what a modern city should be and Nnewi is even worse, with dusty roads and decrepit drainage systems.

Honestly, I don't know what to make of you. Your bad belle is killing you. You can't stop what has potential to be successful. You spent your sense hating that you could not understand the fact that the airport is an International one.

You reek of hate and stup¡d

It's not about building airport, it's about how viable the airport is.

Delta state spent close to 70 billion to build an airport. At the end of the day it was concessioned away for less than 5billion naira in a 30 year deal angry
Thats a poor hasty deal. But what the airport will bring to the state indirectly is far more than that. Its called development of solid structure for future wealth

You are a big time hater and you know it..
Which people are you talking about?
When last did you hear anything about Umueri and robbers..
I pass through that road on a daily and live near it for the past 7 years and nobody has molested me..
So,where are you getting your information from?
The said Airport is a Cargo Airport first and passenger second..
That you land at Asaba, how does that mean that everyone will land at Asaba?
The distance between Asaba Airport and Umueri Airport..
What is the difference to Onitsha,if you going to Main Market or most parts of Onitsha?

Of what use?
Will Obaino also make the Umuleri road free from banditry? Why not expand the Delta Airport to accommodate cargo instead of spending billions on this project. Fund that could be channeled to uses such as alleviating poverty level of the common man.
How about building a more robust IT presence in Awka, Onitsha?
How about setting up manufacturing companies?

With every billion spent on this project, at least 10% goes into Obaino pockets. Imagine that!

You’re nothing but Anambra state hater, you have such better idea why can’t you use it for your own state?.
You’re such a smart person go and win election in your state and do exactly that to them,we’re happy with our governor and his decisions .

That 70billion may just be 10 billion at the end of the day. We know how criminal minded Delta state governors have been since time immemorial.

Bullshit! Keep on harping on the half of the story that suits the pessimistic narrative you want to sell!

Imo airport is among the top 5 busiest airports in the country, and whatever financial challenges it presently faces are primarily down to and driven by the unbalanced political-economy and wilful neglect from the likes of Buhari and his sidekick Hadi-Sirika!

Restructure the economy or give Ndigbo secession and watch airports in the east compete with those in Lagos and Abuja! With secession, the one in Abuja may even be running at a loss sef!

See this one crying his heart out of envy and frustration cheesy

Anambra international airport has come to stay and it will be Nigeria's busiest airport outside Abuja and Lagos. You are not even from Anambra but in your bitter mind you thought you are the one to advise on the location of the airport. Out of envy and frustration of how this international airport shall further transform Anambra, you are now spewing "for and against", just one person. I pity you cheesy

Does those states that have airports have better roads than Anambra? NO. Infact when it comes to road networks Anambra is among the top 5 in Nigeria.

Onitsha you talked about is a modern city with with decent road networks. Onitsha is equally the economic capital of Nigeria aside Lagos.

As for security, Anambra is top among the safest states in Nigeria.

So continue crying, we understand your pains cheesy

[s][/s]
Well said, we need to grow our region, it hurts my soul that our people leave home for other states in search of greener pastures, Anambra can be an excellent economic resort for Africa. We have the brains, we can do it.

Good one ,I most commend the present adminstration in Anambra State,if it's only the airport they are able to complete the next administration will continue from where they stopped.
But why is the govt not doing anything about the access roads to the airport?
Onitsha-33-Nkwelle-Nsugbe-Umueri(Nkpuonumba junction) is supposed to be dualised.Dont bring the argument that it's federal road. The Osha-33 traffic is a nightmare to inhabitants of the area.
The Nteje- Umueri road is supposed to get a face lift even if it wasn't dualised.
The Aguleri-Nando is ok but Nando/Igbariam - Achalla-Isuaniocha that is supposed to be a bypass to state capital is an apology of a road.
The govt should not wait till the airport is completely completed before opening up the access roads to the airport.
The roads will equally help in getting agricultural produce to the urban centers.
God bless Anambra State

Lol most of these people are scared of how further Anambra could advance given the new international airport. It is not like they have genuine concerns, they know that Anambra is a force to reckon with in Nigeria, so adding an international airport will mean that Anambra can only be competing with Lagos in Nigeria, so they are genuinely scared of where Anambra is headed.

One even advised that instead of Anambra to build it's own airport they should rather use the funds to expand Delta state airport. Can you imagine that level of sadism, frustration and envy? cheesy

Here's the main access to the Anambra international airport, it's under construction. It is a 6 lanes dual carriageways with bridges. The international airport road runs from Nteje by Onitsha-Awka expressway.
