4 states have no laws on keeping dangerous wild animals as pets: Alabama, Nevada, North Carolina, and Wisconsin.

21 states ban all dangerous exotic pets, while the rest allow certain species or require permits.
35 states ban keeping big cats as pets, with varying exemptions, requirements, and levels of enforcement.

Now based on that information, majority of the states recognize the danger of keeping such dangerous animals as pet hence they banned it. If 35 states out of 50 banned it, then it is safe to assume that majority of the states in the USA are sane with respect to keeping big cats as pets.

Besides, can you live beside a neighbor who has a lion or big cats as pets? How safe would you feel?

They either take "small" chunks (less than 10kg) of meat everyday 3 to 4 days or large chunks (50kg) every one week depending on the availability of food source. Farm grown goats can weigh as high as 150kg so that's, at least, one goat in three weeks.
