It's been argued that Stocks are volatile, but Real Estate in good location will give one a bit of rest.

In my opinion I think it would depend on the individual's circumstance and risk appetite.

I also think you should have both both a larger proportion of your retirement funds should be in real estate. This is because a retiree already has diminished earning capacity therefore he/she should avoid investments that have potential to return a loss
