How Do You Understand This Verse? All Denominations Are Invited by Nicenancy(f): 7:18am On Mar 16, 2021
1 John 5:20

And we know that the Son of God has come and has given us an understanding, that we may know Him who is true; and we are in Him who is true, in His Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God and eternal life.

@ the bolded, Trinitarian Bible translators gives a twisted rendition of 1John 5:20.
John 17:3, Jesus Christ emphatically declared his Father is the true God.

"Know Him who is true", that is, know the Almighty God and Father of Jesus Christ.
(Compare John 17:3 & you discover that "Him who is true is not Jesus Christ at all, but rather, his Father the only true God).

1 John 5:5,11 debunks the Trinitarian twist of verse 20.

1 John 5:5
Who then overcomes the world? Only he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God.

1 John 5:11
And this is that testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son"

Nice Nancy, who gives life to his Son?
Who is the only true God?

The bolded, here KJV gives a twisted rendition of this verse.

KJV is not twisted for it is you, man, sin-full man, who needs correction from "Twistings", Not The Word of The Lord!

It is still clear even in the Light you have said for The Lord Jesus has Already told us even in the KJV that "He does only The Will of His Father", so no problems here!

I think considering the verse in its original context will shed better light on the meaning of the verse

1 John 5 vs 18-21 (ERV)
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
18. We know that those who have been made God’s children do not continue to sin. The Son of God keeps them safe. The Evil One cannot hurt them. .
19. We know that we belong to God, but the Evil One controls the whole world. .
20. And we know that the Son of God has come and has given us understanding. So now we can know the one who is true, and we live in that true God. We are in his Son, Jesus Christ. He is the true God, and he is eternal life..
21. So, dear children, keep yourselves away from false gods.
Note: "one". is not capitalized in the same way as it's used earlier in referencing "The Evil One". So it is likely "the one" here refers to humans.
