BabaOwen:
I wish the south Western government can fund and arm a militia group. Is main and objectives will be to clear all the Fulanis from the south west.

They should be given one month to leave the bush, after that, the militia group should start going after them. No mercy must be shown to man, woman, children, cows or their lifestocks.

Violence must be answer with a greater violence.

Boko Haram Counters Nigerian Army, Releases Pictures of 16 Killed, Abducted Soldiers - SaharaReporters

Militants from the Islamic State-backed faction of Boko Haram, the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP), formerly known as Jamā'at Ahl as-Sunnah lid-Da'wah wa'l-Jihād, have released pictures of 15 soldiers killed by the group during an ambush on Nigerian soldiers in Monguno, Borno state.

This is contrary to a statement by the Nigerian army that four soldiers died in the attack.

The Director, Army Public Relations, Brig.-Gen. Mohammed Yerima had on Monday said the encounters, which took place on the Tumbus of Lake Chad’s fringes, led to the destruction of the terrorists’ gun trucks and recovery of a large cache of arms and ammunition.

He added that the combined troops of Sector 2 advanced and cleared Daban Massara and Ali Sherifti villages among other settlements before they harboured for replenishment and retrofitting along the axis.

“In the course of the hot pursuit which was aided by air cover provided by the Air Task Team of Operation Lafia Dole, several terrorists were neutralised and their gun trucks destroyed.

“Unfortunately, however, one officer and three gallant soldiers paid the supreme sacrifices while those wounded in action are currently receiving medical attention at 7 Division Medical Services and Hospital in Maimalari Cantonment.

“Above is an on-the-spot account of the encounter between Nigerian troops and the Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists in Mugono area and environs,” he had said.

But ISWAP in a statement claimed 33 soldiers were killed by the group during the attack.

Attached to the statement were pictures showing about 15 bodies of dead soldiers.

The group also released pictures showing an abducted soldier and vehicles captured from the Nigerian army and Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF).

Boko Haram and its offshoot, Islamic State West Africa Province, have killed thousands and displaced millions in northeastern Nigeria.

The Nigerian military has repeatedly claimed that the insurgency has been largely defeated and frequently underplays any losses.

In the past months, soldiers have been targeted by the insurgents.

Hundreds of soldiers and officers have been reportedly killed since January 2021.

At least 33 soldiers were recently killed when two explosive-laden vehicles rammed into a military convoy in Wulgo.

The suicide bombers were identified as Abu Bakr al-Siddiq and Bana Jundullah. The group also claimed four military vehicles were destroyed.

In February, about 20 soldiers were also killed in Malari, Borno State by the insurgents.

SaharaReporters gathered that the soldiers were on patrol to clear some Boko Haram elements in the area following a credible intelligence when they were ambushed by the group.

Suspected Boko Haram insurgents on Tuesday burnt a military base in Katarko village near Damaturu, the Yobe State capital during an attack.

Some residents disclosed the insurgents also set ablaze the Katarko Primary School and the healthcare clinic in the village after they were alleged to have looted drugs and food items from the facilities.

Adamu Ali, who lives close to the primary school, the healthcare facility and the military base, a triangular area of the operation told THE NATION his family was awaken by gunshots and petrol bombs.

He added the insurgents came to the village around 5.30am during Muslim prayers.

“It was such a very terrible way of waking up. The gunshots and the fire from the petrol bombs were scary but thank God we stayed in the house and we were not attacked except for the burning of the military base, the primary school and the clinic,” Adamu informed.

Katarko is about 25km east of Damaturu, the Yobe State capital.

The police and military authorities have not issued any official statement on the attack.

Army spokesman, Sector 2 Operation Lafiya Dole, Lt. Kennedy Anyanwu, did not respond to enquiries by THE NATION.

Why call on Anambra Government, why not call police? Does Anambra not have police? If police isn’t working, stop paying police. It’s easier, less bloodshed, less suffering and much, much cheaper to fix policing issues than start a new country.

What a shame, for somebody to open his mouth and even call the Airforce and Navy messy, shows how brainwashed they are.
If by ur rating our structure is messy, then the neighbours structures are not even existant.
This is the Airforce of these other countries that can't even fly their own jets ....
One contributing factor to Nigeria's weak procurement system is not far from the military incompetent neighbours it has,
For if it where Egypt or Morocco or Algeria that where our borders mates, the selfish politicians at the top would be on their feet...

It's good but there are some things that should be considered.
In fact Komenk has been saying this months ago.
How long before the refurbished systems start expiring?
Should it ever be done, it should be as a stopgap intervention but we all know that NA and FG are always content with little. It might be decades before they think about buying more VT-4 or newer systems..
Considering other factors too, it should only be done when NA gets a huge budget(say $500 million ) and the remaining $400 is used in getting newer systems with longer life span and better combat abilities. It should never be done with a budget of $100 million.
Another thing to be considered is will the refurbished systems turn the tide of the war? We've had tanks and IFVs in the northeast for years, how many of them have done what VT-4 has done?
The tanks Dasuki got, what has happened to them?

It is cheap, it will change a lot of things but superior numbers isn't a guarantee for winning battles.
Look at the performance of the Phantom APCs. That is a good example of what buying cheap can get you.
Another reason why I'm afraid is because of the hilux, they were meant to be temporary intervention but several years after, it has led to the death of thousands. NA and FG will just turn this into the standard and be buying same thing every 5 years with $100 million.
If we must do something, let's do it right or not at all. Let's get systems that will still be very active and dominating battlefields 30 years from now. It will save us a lot of troubles and even money.
I support it but only as a stopgap intervention till more VT-4s and other capable and new systems are delivered and after that, they can compliment the new systems till they are retired.
