Illegal is illegal no matter if they come in through the Rio Grande or through the Airport. I started part time work as a Sophomore working 4 hours daily at Goldblatts Store in Chicago for little pocket money and never get threatened by illegal immigrants thinking they are coming for my job. if you are dirt poor in Mexico, you will be jumping the fence or crossing that treacherous Rio Grande to get to the Fruited Plains too. Go and ask all those Africans getting into rickety boats to cross the Mediterranean sea to Europe. Stop demonizing undocumented immigrants. Walk a day in their shoes and see where it pinches. I am not demonizing any undocumented immigrant. I am just saying it as it is. This I believe should be a norm and debate. I only mention the effect on jobs, health, institutions and security, but you have chosen that all this factors does not warrant tightening immigration policies. The refugee option is also on the table, and we still talking about illegal migration.

Would you mind explaining to me why a person attempting to cross the border would care about your system apart from circumventing it to get into the country?

If what you are saying is the truth, it would have been like that over 50 years ago. A lot 9f these Mexicans do go back home after making a success out of their lives. It's not easy for people to leave their comfort zones to work and live in a country with different cultures, food and ways of life. I believe that if I am dirt poor and hungry, will do the necessary to better my life. Tomorrow there will be thousands of Africans queuing up at American Embassies all over Africa for visas and I can tell you 80% of them will eventually become undocumented if they get to US. Tell their families that they should be deported then and they will be happy with you. We can say whatever we want about immigration on Nairaland but the truth is that if Trump failed as bigoted and hate filled as he was against immigrants, what makes you think Biden will be different. Well, I respect you for that because I am not in favor of illegal immigration but knowing that no one wants to be a church rat, I am not going to fault some guy named Juan or Hector swimming through Rio Grande or jumping over a 20 foot wall to better his life. I do not have a single undocumented person in my entire family but I know if I am dirt poor in Nigeria or Ghana and was lucky enough to get a US Visa, will be a proud undocumented immigrant and let the Chips fall wherever.

No undocumented immigrant can get a Social Security Number and they can't get a Driver's License and they have to go through E-verify to work and if any company knowingly hires an illegal immigrant, there's heavy fine waiting for the company.

If illegal immigration didn't affect you personally, why are you so worried about it. Most Americans I know including yours truly are so busy with whatever they are facing not think about some Mexican guys taking their jobs. All my life, never thought of some illegal immigrants taking my job and I used to go to a Pentecostal Church growing up on the North Side of Chicago with many undocumented immigrants from Nigeria and Ghana and not for once have I seen anyone say those people threatened their livelihoods. Let the Americans that are bothered vent their frustrations out because most of those anger comes from Right Wing hate filled nuts and we get bunch of them in Texas.

In UK, paying less than minimum wage is illegal, period, and it is a separate crime to hiring an illegal. So if you hire an illegal and pay them less than minimum wages that's two crimes you've committed. Can you see how both laws would disincentivise you to commit the crime of hiring an illegal and paying less than the minimum?

The illegal migrant will of course be deported if illegal.

Point is, it isn't just the crime of the migrant, but that of the indigene who hires them too.

My friend, Texas is not as big as California and they have Mexicans trooping in every day there like they do in Texas, Arizona, and New Mexico. Will tell you this again, no President in America will stem illegal immigration but it can be contained. One of my two Sisters lives in San Diego with her family and whenever I visit her, my Brother in Law and I always drive through San Ysidro to Mexico for fun and recreation and you won't believe how cheap things are there and how poor those Mexicans are. That's why I said if I am dirt poor like some of those guys crossing the border, ICE will just keep arresting and deporting me and I will be back the next day. That's how those Mexicans feel. You can't put a Lamborghini by Volkswagen and expect the same reaction from the onlookers. Hunger is bad and I pray you or I don't have to go through what those people are going through.
