Three policemen have been feared killed by gunmen at Neni junction in Anaocha local government area of Anambra State.

THE NATION learnt their security vehicle was also burnt by the assailants.

Three Naval officers were also reportedly killed at Awkuzu in Oyi local government area.

It was learnt the two incidents occurred around 5pm almost simultaneously.

The new Police Public Relations Officer in Anambra, Ikenganyia Tochukwu, a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) could not confirm the reports.

He simply told THE NATION he would issue a statement later.

However, one of the senior police officers in the command, who pleaded anonymity, confirmed the incidents.

This is sad and uncalled for.

But, that's what you get when you decide to intimidate, humiliate, torment and possibly kill who are meant to protect all because you were opportune to wear uniform and carry assault rifle.

Something sinister is going on in the East and nobody is reporting about them. Two Naval personnel were killed just last Sunday at Onitsha and their rifles taken away. Other Naval personnel took to their heels. I have not seen it in the media since it happened. The same way it happened in Imo state few days back. The way it is going now, Security agents will soon become endangered species in the East. May God help us.
