emilyone:please this thing called touch and go is it a tablet or what? |
doncaster:this guy is not working, probe for all you want nobody cares but get the job going. Fashola had set the pace in lagos why does this orobo of a man want to pull us backward, all he does is pick accident victims on the road and be smiling up and down in pictures, governance goes beyond that. Lalasticlala, please help put this on the frontpage. We need to hear from people who are resident in Lagos. |
I got this from laila's blog A TILB Blog Reader has some complaints for the current Governor of Lagos State, Ambode, and has decided to write them up for us to help post it, so that the governor or his aides would read it and make amendments. See the open letter after the jump: I have decided to stay away from politics for a while, but I can't help but notice this, I don't know if anyone has notice it, as well, Is like Ambode lead Government is much more weaker than Fashola's own, Reasons? 1 Fashola made it clear that Traders should stay away from selling their wares at 'Oju Irin' (Railway line) In Oshodi, which they obey for about 8 years or so, but barely 3 months into Ambode tenure, they are back to the same spot, without any checking, I even heard they (Traderss) have install 'Iyaloja Oju irin', trust my Yoruba people. 2 Between 'Toyota Bus stop' ( I have heard conductors calling the bus stop 'Total'), there is this 'M.R.S' truck garage, during Fashola's tenure, they (the truck driver) dare not park outside their garage more than 2 hours,or else, is either their truck will be tow away and with heavy fine, before they get the truck back or they lock up the garage with 'Heavier' fine, before they will open it back, but now, barely 3 months, they now park their truck, not only that, they even extend their parking from there to Airport road, even to 5 Star bus stop. 3 Our 'Owanbe' must be in a 'Hall' 'School Compound' or so for almost 8 years, because nobody want to block his/her street for any party (for the fear of one permit or the order from 'Fashola people' the following day) but now, people not only block their street for 'Owanbe' alone, they lock the gate. And many more, which time will not allow me to talk about for now. Please don't see me as Anti Ambode o, just feel like sharing my thought this morning, and am entitled to my opinion. If anybody knows anybody that knows somebody, that will know somebody in Ambode Government, should help convey this to him. President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday approved the dissolution of the Executive Management Team of the Assets Management Corporation of Nigeria. The dissolution order was contained in a statement made available to journalists by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina. Adesina said the President also approved the reconstitution of the corporation’s management team as follows: Ahmed Lawan Kuru -Managing Director; and Kola Ayeye, Eberechukwu Uneze and Aminu Ismail as Executive Directors. Until his appointment on Tuesday as Managing Director of AMCON, Kuru was the Group Managing Director of Enterprise Bank Limited. He started his banking career with the old Habib Bank in 1985 and rose through the ranks to become an Executive Director of Bank PHB (now Keystone Bank) in 2005. The All Progressives Congress (APC) says the visit of President Muhammadu Buhari to the United States (US) in July is yielding results as the country is now providing military hardware to Nigeria’s military. The party also praised the Nigerian military for stepping up its effort in the fight against Boko Haram, saying the paradigm shift in the military’s approach to the battle against insurgency showed it was getting its groove back. In a statement issued on Monday by Lai Mohammed, its spokesman, the party said the military is now taking the battle straight to the insurgents, instead of waiting for them to attack. It described as refreshing and reassuring the fact that service chiefs had been visiting the theatre of the battle in the northeast, not only “to pep up the fighting men and women but also to meet with political and community leaders in the area”. “The stepped-up fight against Boko Haram has convinced Nigerians that indeed their military is getting its groove back, and can beat the three-month deadline set by President Muhammadu Buhari for Boko Haram to be defeated,” it said. “The renewed battle has also shown that President Buhari was right in directing the relocation of the military’s command and control centre from Abuja to Maiduguri. “Watching the video clip of Nigerian air force jets pounding targets in Sambisa forest, which is the fortress of the insurgents, over the weekend arouses great pride in the military. “Thanks to the purposeful leadership and political will provided by President Buhari, Nigerian neighbours are now ready to contribute their full quota to the battle, with the latest news indicating that Cameroon has decided to triple its initial troops contribution to the Multi-National Joint Task Force to reach 2,400 troops. ”Also, contrary to the lies being propagated by the naysayers, President Buhari’s visit to the US has reset Nigeria relations with that country to the level where much needed military hardware are now being sent to Nigeria to increase the country’s military firepower.” The APC said: “while the military must sustain its ongoing efforts to further degrade the fighting ability of the insurgents, it was important for all Nigerians to continue to support the troops in every way possible so that the monsters who have killed and maimed at will in the past several years can be defeated once and for all. ”We have always believed that the Nigerian military, which has distinguished itself globally since its first participation in a UN peacekeeping mission in the Congo in 1960, has what it takes not only to protect and defend Nigeria’s territorial integrity but also to win even an asymmetrical warfare like the one against Boko Haram – under the right circumstances. We are glad that the military is now proving us right.” www.thecable.ng/us-now-supplying-weapons-nigeria-says-apc |

oga read again, its the sultan speaking here. And so? Even if its pmb speaking, @least he isnt telling us stealing aint corruption. You are in for some suprises in the upcoming weeks |
The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar, on Monday
told President Muhammadu Buhari to make sure that he
prosecutes every person found to have looted the
national treasury.
The Sultan said Buhari should not only prosecute the
corrupt and ensure that the proceeds of their corruption
are forfeited to the Federal Government but that such
persons should be sent to jail.
“We are 100 per cent in support of your fight against
corruption in this country, and it is our belief that all
those found guilty should not only have their entire
assets seized and forfeited to government but also face
jail sentences,” he said.
The Sultan also asked the Federal Government to institute
a national integrity plan as soon as possible. He however
challenged the police and other security agencies to
support the anti-corruption crusade of the Buhari
government.
Abubakar spoke in a keynote speech at the National
Security Summit on Community Partnership Approach
to Internal Security and Crime Management, organised
by the police in Abuja.
Buhari was also present at the event where he spoke
about his administration’s plan to strengthen the police.
The Sultan’s support for Buhari’s anti-corruption crusade
came amid alleged pressure on the President to forget
probing his predecessor’s financial transactions and
allegation of a witch-hunt by the Peoples Democratic
Party.
Catholic Bishop of Sokoto and member of the National
Peace Committee, Hassan Kukah, had reportedly
counselled Buhari to forget about probing the ex-
President Goodluck Jonathan’s alleged looting of the
treasury.
The ruling All Progressives Congress on Sunday, in a
veiled response to Kukah’s advice, said the President
needed to probe the looters and recover the national
resources they had stolen for the ‘change’ promise of the
APC to be fulfilled.
In all, the ruling party said at least N11.2tn was looted
under the Buhari administration, a claim the PDP has
described as “reckless and capable of causing chaos in
the country.”
Also on Monday, the Nigeria Labour Congress said it
would not protect any corrupt worker in the country.
The NLC President, Mr. Ayuba Wabba, stated this in an
interview with one of our correspondents in Abuja.
Wabba was reacting to the reported seizure of landed
properties of three civil servants by the Independent
Corrupt Practices and other related Offences
Commission.
The NLC president said that the war against corruption
should be total, adding that the workers’ union was
committed to the anti-graft war.
He said, “If the properties are acquired with ill-gotten
wealth, they should be investigated and the properties
should be seized and those involved prosecuted.
“The fight against corruption should be total. Labour and
workers should be in the forefront of the war against
corruption. We have demonstrated that by making the
commitment that we will champion the campaign to
recover all looted funds and prosecute those involved.
“We are not going to protect any worker that enriches
himself through corrupt proceeds. NLC will not protect
any worker that is used or allow himself to be used to
perpetrate acts of corruption.”
Wabba, who said that the congress would show good
examples, urged workers to be whistle-blowers.
He added, “We must start with ourselves first as workers
and trade unions. Let them not be used as a conduit to
bring our country to its knees. A lot of money has been
stolen and there is no way this money can be stolen
without the connivance of one or two persons, even
workers.
“We are not going to defend and support such workers.
They have done a lot of harm to some of us; the
educational sector is in a shambles because of the money
they have stolen. The NLC will neither support nor
defend such people.”
The Executive Director, Civil Societies Legislative and
Advocacy Centre, Auwual Musa-Rafsanjani, noted that
the anti-graft crusade of the ICPC was an indication that
the Federal Government would not tolerate corruption.
He called for the prosecution of corrupt persons and
recovery of stolen public funds to deter others from
toeing the same ignoble path.
“We should not only recover stolen public funds from
corrupt people, they should also be banned from holding
public office. Whatever the EFCC and the ICPC have done
so far is commendable, but we need to sanction the
culprits by naming and shaming them,” Musa-Rafsanjani
stated.
The acting Executive Secretary, Anti-Corruption Network,
Ebenezer Oyetakin, observed that the ICPC seemed to
have found its rhythm, adding that “what is happening is
because of phobia for Buhari.”
Oyetakin said that the anti-corruption campaign of the
government would institutionalise probity in the country,
noting that the setting up of eminent jurists to reform
the nation’s anti-corruption laws was a bold move that
indicated that the crusade would be encompassing.
Some civil society organisations and lawyers also
commended the move by the ICPC to seize the
properties of allegedly corrupt civil servants.
Respondents told one of our correspondents in separate
telephone conversations that the move was in line with
the President Muhammadu Buhari administration’s
desire to tackle corruption in the country.
Executive Chairman of the Coalition Against Corrupt
Leaders, Mr. Debo Adeniran, who hailed the
development, said one could easily find out that some
choice properties in Abuja and Lagos were owned by civil
servants whose legitimate earnings could not account
for.
He said, “We believe it is a long-overdue assignment. They
(the anti-corruption agencies) didn’t need to wait this
long to start this.
“For instance section 7 of the EFCC Act enables the EFCC
to investigate anybody they suspect is living beyond his
or her means.
“Many choice properties in Abuja and Lagos are owned
by civil servants, judges and magistrates. All of these
people should be investigated.”
Chairman of the Civil Society Network Against
Corruption, Mr. Lanre Suraju, also reiterated the need to
focus the anti-corruption searchlight on civil servants,
whom he said were well grounded in the system.
Suraji said, “I think it is very important that the ICPC and
other law enforcement agencies investigate the civil
servants. The civil servants know the nitty-gritty of the
system. Sometimes, they misdirect public officers.
“Go to Lagos and Abuja, you will be shocked to know of
the many choice assets owned by civil servants. The anti-
corruption agencies should seriously focus on the civil
servants.”

The Comptroller General of the Nigeria Customs Service, Abdullahi Dikko Inde has thrown in the towel. Daily Sun gathered that the Customs boss resigned following indication that he would be fired by President Muhammadu Buhari. It was also gathered that ever since President Buhari came into power, Inde has made spirited efforts to be in his good books to no avail. Sources revealed that since the result of the March presidential election was announced, the Customs boss, who backed former president Goodluck Jonathan, had tried to make amends but failed. He was said to have shunned Buhari in 2011, when his support was sought and therefore his effort to now align with him (Buhari), after the March victory was like medicine after death. Born on May 11, 1960, Inde who is from Katsina State as Buhari, became Comptroller-General of Customs on August 17, 2009. He enlisted in the Superintendent Cadre of the Nigeria Customs Service in 1988. From 1988 when he enlisted in the Service, he made tremendous progress by rising to the rank of an Assistant Comptroller-General within a few years. His promotion was quite rapid as he quickly rose to the rank of an Assistant Comptroller-General within a few years, but because of his performance over the years, he was given a very prominent position of the ACG Headquarters from there and in no time, he was made the Comptroller-General of Customs. He was appointed a member of the Port Decongestion Committee in 1994. This snowballed into his appoint ment in 2001 to open Phase II and III of the Kirikiri Lighter Terminal to ease congestion. He has served in several customs commands which include Tincan Island Port, Apapa, Imo Command, Kaduna, Investigation and Inspection Headquarters, Abuja, Badagry Area Command, Seme Border, AC GHeadquarters, Comptroller-General of Customs. www.sunnewsonline.com/new/customs-cg-inde-resigns/ Cc:ishilove Lalasticlala Seun |

President Muhammadu Buhari has commenced the process of identifying a few fearless and courageous judges who will be saddled with the responsibility of prosecuting persons who have been found to have stolen national resources, THE PUNCH has learnt. Buhari had while granting audience to members of the National Peace Committee led by Gen. Abdulsalami Abubakar in the Presidential Villa, Abuja on Tuesday disclosed that the prosecution of the indicted persons would commence in a matter of weeks. “Those who have stolen the national wealth will be in court in a matter of weeks and Nigerians will know those who have short-changed them,” the President had told his guests. Our correspondent however learnt on Sunday that the prosecution would not be open to “just any judge.” It was learnt that the President was committed to ensuring that only judges who would expedite action on the cases and would be fearless in discharging their duties would be enlisted for the prosecution. A source confided in our correspondent that that was one of the assignments Buhari gave to the Prof. Itse Sagay-led Presidential Advisory Committee Against Corruption which he set up on Monday. The source said it would not be necessary to set up special courts to try corruption cases since efforts were already underway to identify judges that would key into the President’s dream of ensuring that no looter was left unpunished. He said, “We do not need to entertain any fear that the prosecution of corruption-related cases will not be fast enough because many of our courts are already weighed down by many cases. “The truth of the matter is that not all judges will be considered to take up the cases of those who have stolen our commonwealth. “As a matter of fact, one of the assignments the President gave the Presidential Advisory Committee Against Corruption led by Prof. Sagay is to identify fearless and courageous judges that will handle the cases. “The idea is to ensure that the judges who will handle the cases will not be just any judges. They must be those who will expedite actions on the cases and discharge their duties with courage. “You can see that with this development, the issue of special courts for corruption cases may not come. It is about special judges.” Our correspondent also gathered that Buhari was already considering withdrawing national honours from any individual found to have looted the nation’s treasury. It was learnt that the President’s position was that the nation should not be seen to be honouring any fruadulent person. “The President will not hesitate to strip any corrupt person of national honour. Can you honour a person for milking the nation dry? It is irrelevant how long such persons have been bestowed with the national honours, they will be stripped of them,” the source said. When contacted, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina, said it was reasonable that anybody found to be corrupt should be stripped of national honours. Adesina however said such withdrawal of national honours would not be done until affected persons had been convicted by competent courts. “Although it has not been considered, it is reasonable that those found guilty of corruption should be stripped of national honours bestowed on them. However, this will not be done before conviction,” the presidential spokesman said. While announcing the establishment of the Presidential Advisory Committee Against Corruption on Monday, Adesina had said its brief was to advise the present administration on the prosecution of the war against corruption and the implementation of required reforms in Nigeria’s criminal justice system. He said the committee was also saddled with the responsibility of developing comprehensive interventions for achieving the recommended reforms. http://www.punchng.com/news/buhari-seeks-fearless-judges-to-try-looters/ |
