Also, Keyamo ordered the suspension of the Nigeria Air project inaugurated by former President Muhammadu Buhari.

Keyamo also put on hold all arrangements under his predecessor, Hadi Sirika, to enable proper audit of contracts in the aviation industry.

CrimeResidents Attack Warehouse And Loot Palliative In Bayelsa Amid Hardship (video) by Presstar(op): 11:47am On Aug 28, 2023
BREAKING: Residents attack warehouse and loot palliative in Bayelsa amid hardship (Video)

[quote]Many residents of Yenegoa, Bayelsa State, have forced their way into a warehouse to loot palliatives meant for victims of the 2022 flooding.

The warehouse located along Isaac Boro Expressway in the state capital was attacked on Sunday, August 27, 2023.

The looting occurred amid widespread anger over the removal of fuel subsidy in Nigeria. The subsidy removal has led to a sharp increase in the price of petrol, which has in turn pushed up the prices of goods and services.

The administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu promised to provide palliatives for Nigerians to cushion the effects of the fuel subsidy removal. However, it was not clear if the palliatives looted in Yenagoa were part of the promised items.

It was gathered that some of the food items in the warehouse had expired, but that did not stop the residents from looting them.

The state government under the administration of Senator Douye Diri, is yet to comment on the incident.

Foreign AffairsMassive Flood Looms In Nigeria As Cameroon Set To Open Lagdo Dam by Presstar(op): 11:23pm On Aug 27, 2023
Nigeria might soon be hit with massive flood as the Government of Cameroon announced its intention to open the Lagdo Dam on River Benue.

The notification was sent to the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) through a letter signed by Umar Salisu, the Ministry’s Director of African Affairs in Cameroon.

According to the Cameroonian government, the decision to open the Lagdo Dam was to reduce the level of water caused by the persistent rain in Cameroon.

The Ministry urged NEMA to immediately take precautionary measures and sensitise people of the affected areas, in order to reduce damage.

According to Salisu, the Cameroonian authorities will be releasing “only modulated variable small amount of water at a time”.

The letter added, “I have the honour to inform that the Ministry is in receipt of a Note Verbale from the High Commission of the Republic of Cameroon informing that Cameroonian officials have resolved to open the flood gates of the Lagdo Dam on the Benue River in days ahead due to the heavy rainfall around the Dam catchment area in Northern Cameroon.

“According to the Note, it is pertinent to note that when the release of water becomes necessary, the authorities of the Lagdo Dam will be releasing only modulated variable small amount of water at a time in order to mitigate and avoid damages that the released water may cause along the River Benue basin in both Cameroon and in Nigeria.

“In view of the above, it would be appreciated if the esteemed Agency takes all the necessary proactive steps and actions that will mitigate the damage as well as sensitize the populace living in such areas for vigilance and all necessary precautions”.

The Ministry also urged residents of the affected areas to remain calm and to follow the instructions of the authorities.

SportsNFF Terminates Jose Peseiro’s Contract, Begins Hunt For New Super Eagles Coach by Presstar(op): 9:21pm On Aug 26, 2023
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has terminated the contract of Jose Peseiro as head coach of the Super Eagles, according to many reports.

NFF won’t be extended the contract of coach of Jose Peseiro following break down in talks over a new deal that will see him stay on for at least another year,

Peseiro’s deal expired last month and talks were on over an extension with the main issue centered around his monthly salary of $70,000 a week.

The NFF proposed a slash in the wage as they have struggled to meet up with the demand.

However their proposed wage was rejected by the representatives of the Portuguese coach leading to a collapse in talks.

The option of extending the deal will now be terminated using the disagreement over a new pay as the reason in a bid to avoid any penalty.

Peseiro was appointed Super Eagles coach in May 2022, but his tenure has been met with criticism from fans and pundits.

The NFF has said that it will begin the process of appointing a new Super Eagles coach immediately.

Some of the names that have been mentioned as possible replacements for Peseiro include former Nigeria internationals Finidi George and Emmanuel Amuneke.

The NFF’s decision to terminate Peseiro’s contract is a major gamble. The Super Eagles are due to play in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast in January, and they will need a new coach who can quickly get the team up to speed.

The NFF will need to act quickly to appoint a new coach and give them enough time to prepare for the AFCON.

The team’s chances of success in the tournament will depend on the quality of the new coach and the players who are available.

The termination of Peseiro’s contract is a sign that the NFF is serious about improving the Super Eagles.

The team has not won the AFCON since 2013, and they need to start winning trophies again if they want to be considered one of the top teams in Africa.

The NFF will need to make the right decision when appointing a new coach.

The team cannot afford to make another mistake, as their chances of success in the AFCON and other major tournaments will depend on it.
