Tinubu’s government begins search for researchers to develop national AI strategy, asks Nigerians to share contacts (See Details)

The Federal Government under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has started searching for the most brilliant researchers and experts in the field of Artificial Intelligence (AI).

The Minister of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy, Dr. Bosun Tijani disclosed this on Monday, August 28, 2023, in a white paper shared via X, formerly Twitter.

According to him, the selected individuals will help the country create its National Artificial Intelligence (AI) Strategy.

The policy stipulates that a National AI strategy for Nigeria would steer the AI revolution toward achieving job creation, social inclusion, and sustainable development.

The ministry hopes to build on the work done by the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) in developing the strategy.

To achieve this feat, Mr Tijani and his team will employ McKinsey methodology to obtain all articles in the field of AI, where the author’s affiliate institutions are in Nigeria.

In addition, they also trained their research models to identify Nigerian names for easy identification of AI researchers.

In the Whitepaper the minister said: “We’re curating a list of the top researchers of Nigerian descent from all over the world to join us in co-creating a National AI Strategy. The strategy will help shape our approach to building innovative tech solutions to our most pressing national problems.

“If there are any researchers you know, Nigerian and non-Nigerian, who have done some work on the Nigerian market, please share in the comments.”

“A National Al Strategy for Nigeria to responsibly steer the Al revolution towards achieving national goals around job creation, social inclusion, and sustainable development becomes imperative.

“With collaborative leadership, Nigeria seeks to pioneer ethical and inclusive Al innovation that improves welfare and expands opportunities for all its citizens,” the Whitepaper added.

The issue isn't AI in itself. AI can do a lot for us. The issue when those in power are after enriching themselves and do what is within their scope of understanding for outrageous amount of money. AI can spot fraud faster. Can eliminate wastages too among many things.

The hatred they are projecting to others is what God is showering on them

I traveled from PH to Lag this yesterday and I was surprised as all the transport companies were avoiding the region like a plague. We had to follow Bayelsa to Warri and Edo route.
And I was thinking in my mind that God has forsaken this people
