The corps member who called out the bus conductor who touched her private part, said the incident occurred while on her way back to Asaba after her monthly clearance at her local government in Onitsha. She wrote as she shared photos of bus conductor;

Kaduna state lawmakers, have reportedly passed a bill to grant license to pastors and imams before preaching few days after Governor Nasir El-Rufai assumed office for second term.

Lawmakers passed the bill to grant license to pastors and imams before preaching, three years after the bill faced serious criticism from different religious bodies and individuals. The bill seeks to regulate religious preaching in Kaduna State, with a view of promoting religious harmony and peaceful co-existence amongst the residents of the state was brought to the House since 2016.

Speaking before the bill was passed, the state’s house of assembly speaker, Alhaji Aminu Abdullahi Shagali disclosed that a state inter-faith Regulatory council has been established with a chairman to be appointed by the Governor on the recommendation of the Secretary to the state. Two members representing the Christian and Muslim faith, respectively, to be appointed by the Governor, among others. The bill further stipulates that in each of the 23 local Government areas of the state, a committee to be known as the Local Government Inter-faith Committee has to be established.

The supplementary provision explained that all cassettes, compact disks (CDs), flash drives or any other communication gadgets containing religious recordings from accredited preachers may be played inside a private dwelling unit or vehicle, entrance porch (zaure), Church, Mosque and any other designated place of worship. Any person who plays religious cassette or uses a loud speaker for religious purposes between the hours of 11pm to 4am in a public place, and uses a loudspeaker for religious purposes other than inside Church or Mosque commits an offence and shall on conviction be liable to imprisonment for a term of not less than two years or pay a fine of less than N200,000.00 or both.

It also adds that any person who publicly insults or seeks to incite contempt any religion, by making false statements in such a manner as to be likely to lead to a breach of peace, shall be punished with imprisonment for a term of not less than five years a fine of not less than N100,000.00 or both.

A newly discovered Abacha’s £211m loot has been seized from a Jersey bank account, as confirmed by Presidential spokesperson, Tolu Ogunlesi.

It was gathered that General Sani Abacha, who was a Nigerian army officer and de facto president between 1993 until his death in 1998 laundered the money through the US into the Channel Islands.

The money was put in accounts held in Jersey by Doraville Properties Corporation, a British Virgin Islands company. The money is now being held by the government until authorities in Jersey, the US and Nigeria come to an agreement on how it should be distributed. It was further gathered that money that Jersey does keep will be put into the Criminal Confiscation Fund, which is used to pay for a variety of projects. In the past the fund has been used for the new police station and developments at La Moye Prison.

Asides the newly discovered Abacha’s £211m loot which was seized, it is expected that even more money held by Doraville is likely to be seized and paid into the Civil Asset Recovery Fund in the future.

Attorney General Robert MacRae said: ‘In restraining the funds at the request of the United States of America, through whose banking system the funds were laundered prior to arriving here, and in achieving the payment of the bulk of the funds into the Civil Asset Recovery Fund, Jersey has once again demonstrated its commitment to tackling international financial crime and money laundering.’

Recall we reported yesterday that the blogger said she was not arrested nor humiliated by police officers, but by Onye Eze and his boys who threatened to kill her. She further revealed that the security operatives the China based businessman brought, claimed they were from the Inspector General of Police and they also threatened to shoot her. Okoro Blessing who disclosed that she was set up by Onye Eze, further revealed that she was forced to sign an undertaken and threatened with publishing the video confession she made unless she brings N500K. She further revealed that she wants the world to know what happened before taking her life.

President Buhari, before assenting to the budget, lamented that the insertion of new projects by the National Assembly, which were not budgeted for would have adverse affect on realisation of objectives of Economic Recovery and Growth Plan, ERGP, of the administration.

But Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, said it was the National Assembly that should decide how federally generated receipts were expended and that the National Assembly had taken that decision. Buhari had said he will engage the leadership of the Ninth Assembly when constituted to address some of the concerns with the budget.

He said: “Of course, some of these changes will adversely impact our programmes, making it difficult for us to achieve the objectives of Economic Recovery and Growth Plan, ERGP. “Although I will be signing this bill, it is my intention to continue to engage the National Assembly to ensure we deliver on our promises.

” Recall that the National Assembly had earlier passed the 2019 budget of N8.92 trillion, against the N8.83 trillion presented by Buhari on December 18, 2018.

The increase of N9 billion in the budget was to cater for security challenges in the country, packages for lawmakers and support for Zamfara State. But President Buhari faulted the increase in the budget, saying: “I would like to take this opportunity to thank the leadership of the National Assembly and, indeed, all the distinguished and honourable members for all the hard work they put in to get us here.

“You will all recall that in December 2018, I presented our 2019 budget proposal with the theme ‘Budget of Continuity’. Our goal was to use this budget to move the economy further on the path of inclusive, diversified and sustainable growth.

“Back then, I proposed a total expenditure of N8.83 trillion to the National Assembly for appropriation, targeting strategic and impactful projects and initiatives. “However, the 2019 budget I will be signing into law today (yesterday) provides for aggregate expenditures of N8.92 trillion. This is an increase of N9.33 billion over our submission.

“This increase reflects changes introduced by the National Assembly. In some areas, expenses we proposed were reduced, while in other areas they were increased.

There were also certain areas where new additions were introduced into the budget. More details of the approved budget will be provided by the Minister of Budget and National Planning. “Of course, some of these changes will adversely impact our programs, making it difficult for us to achieve the objectives of the Economic Recovery and Growth Plan, ERGP.”

He further promised that he would continue to do his best towards national security. He noted that his coming to power in 2015 was a relief to North-East of the country because there was reduction of activities of Boko Haram in the region. The president expressed displeasure on the late passage of 2019 Budget by the National Assembly (NASS).

“ I feel very bad indeed. NASS to hold the Budget for seven months,“ he said. He said the present administration had worked tirelessly to recover looted money from banks in Europe and U.S. He explained that the recovery was a gradual process by investigation.

He said government was intensifying effort to fix roads, improve power and other infrastructure to make the business booming as well as encourage foreigners to invest in the country.

Alvaro Morata says Atletico Madrid must respect Antoine Griezmann's wishes to leave the club, adding that Diego Simeone's exit would be a greater cause for concern.

Griezmann caused a stir this month when he confirmed he wants to quit the Wanda Metropolitano, his announcement coming less than a year after signing a new long-term contract following a much-publicised decision to ignore interest from Barcelona.

The Catalans have again been linked with a move for the France international, as have Manchester United, and Morata thinks a player who has contributed to Atletico as Griezmann has deserves support.

"If you're inside the dressing room, you know it's a possibility [he will leave]," he told Marca.

"The only thing to do is to respect him. He's been one of the best in the club's history; he's given so much to Atletico. We have to support him.

"He's treated me very well. We wish him well, as long as he doesn't play against Atletico, of course."

However, Morata thinks it would be a far bigger loss if Atleti's head coach opts to leave the club.

Simeone has propelled the club into the highest bracket of European teams since taking over in 2011, winning La Liga, the Copa del Rey, the Supercopa de Espana, two UEFA Super Cups and two Europa Leagues, while also twice reaching the Champions League final.

"It would be very difficult to understand Atletico without Simeone," said Morata. "There have been a lot of players, but Atletico always fight since Cholo came.

"He'd be a great loss. Simeone is Atletico. You can't imagine them without him."

“The form Matip’s been in, he’s been brilliant,” former Reds defender Carragher told The Anfield Wrap.

“At one stage three months ago I was thinking, ‘We need to buy a centre-back.’

“You couldn’t trust [Dejan] Lovren or Gomez fitness-wise and Matip was the fourth choice and you’re thinking, ‘Is he good enough?’

“But I think you’d be mad now to sign one. Maybe if Lovren went, I don’t know his contract situation.

“He’s far too injury prone for me so if someone made a good offer and you could buy someone without breaking the bank [you should sell him], because you’ve got Gomez there who was outstanding at the start of the season, you give him one more chance as well.

“Unfortunately for him [Lovren] he gets a lot of injuries and you can’t afford to have players in your squad who get injured all the time.

“It’s just not good. In Matip and Gomez we’ve got two excellent partners for big Virg.”

Carragher is not the first to suggest that Lovren should be moved on by Liverpool.

The All Progressives Congress, APC, National Leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, has congratulated Governor Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State over his election as the new Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, NGF.

Tinubu expressed confidence in Fayemi to deliver on the assignment given his credentials, competence, integrity and fine leadership ability.

In a letter addressed to Fayemi, personally signed by the former Lagos Governor and forwarded to DAILY POST on Friday by his Media Office, the APC leader urged Governor Fayemi to properly reposition the NGF “to contribute positively to national development, advance the frontiers of important issues such as fiscal federalism and support President Muhammadu Buhari in the task of taking the country to the Next Level.”

Jurgen Klopp allowed his side a few days off before the Reds jetted to Marbella to take part in a training camp to prepare for the final in Madrid on June 1.

This season's final is a full week later - with three full weeks between Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur's final Premier League match of the campaign and the European final in Madrid.

The reason, according to UEFA, is down to the changed demands of international football.

A UEFA spokesperson explained: "After changes had been made to the international match calendar ahead of the 2014/15 season, e.g. introduction of national team double-headers and less international friendly dates, UEFA agreed with its stakeholders that the date of the UEFA Champions League final shall be scheduled at the last available date of the season before the international match release period in June.

"In uneven years without World Cup or EURO tournaments, this may be at the end of May or beginning of June."

England face Holland in the Nations League semi-final on June 6 and a final or third/fourth place fixture against either Portugal or Switzerland on June 9.

According to FIFA regulations players must be released by their clubs no later than four days days (including the day of the match) beforehand.

Liverpool will have Trent Alexander-Arnold, Joe Gomez, Jordan Henderson, Virgil van Dijk and Georginio Wijnaldum all involved in the Nations League.

Last summer was an international tournament summer, with the World Cup final played on July 15, so this season's Champions League final has been scheduled a week later than last season's.

The 2017 final, which followed a European Championship summer, was staged on June 3 while the 2015 final, following the Brazil World Cup finals, was on June 6.
