Politics / Osun 2014: APC Members, Group Kick As Party Chair Proposes Option A4 To HQ by princeshegx: 6:36pm On Jun 11, 2018
Members and group affiliated to the ruling-All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State have kicked against a purported letter written by the State Chairman of the party, Prince Gboyega Famoodun recommending the Option A4 to the APC national leadership to pick the party flagbearer in the September 22 governorship election in Osun.
A political group affiliated to the Osun State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Forum for the Development of Democracy (FDD) has however reacted to the purported letter contained in a statement issued and signed by the group's State Coordinator, Mr Nurudeen Afolabi.
According to the political group leader, Prince Famoodun acted alone without consulting other members of the state leadership of the party.
Ibrahim stated that the content of the letter is a slap on the collective intelligence of all the party members who were never consulted before the state party boss wrote and sent the letter to the national headquarters of the party.
"The purported letter by Prince Famoodun is a slap on the collective intelligence of the party members.
"I just wonder how one individual would arrogate the power of many individuals to himself on such a highly sensitive issue like the picking of our party's gubernatorial election," Afolabi reasoned.
The political group therefore admonished the party leader at the national level not to accord any recognition to the letter, as it represents the selfish interest of few led Prince Famoodun.
In his own reaction to the purported letter, an APC leader from Ifedayo Local Government Council Area of the state, Mr. Isiaka Lawal expressed his doubt on the purported letter, stating that the state party chairman could not do such as he has always held him high esteem as a prince of note.
"Prince Famoodun that I know will not have anything to do with such a letter in view of his belief in democracy and democratic structures.
"I still want to believe that the purported letter still remains in the realm of a rumour but if found to be true, the state party chairman ought to resign honourably," Lawal opined.
While reacting to the issue, another party chieftain, Mrs Rebecca Aina from Osogbo, the state capital, confided in the medium that there must be more to the issue than meet the eyes.
In her own observation, the party chairman couldn't have written the letter without the knowledge of some kitchen cabinet members of the Governor Rauf Aregbesola's administration.
"How are you sure that the state government is not in the know of the purported letter?" she questioned.
Mrs Aina however cautioned that the party leadership in the state should not toy with the members' resolve not to have anything to do with Option A4, as the method is open to manipulation by some powerful individuals.
The medium therefore watch with baited breathe as events unfold ahead of the fast-approaching July 7 gubernatorial election in Osun State.
Politics / Osun2018:rights Grp Condemns Use Of Government Resources 4 Oyetola's Aspiration by princeshegx: 12:21pm On Jun 05, 2018
A human rights and anti-corruption group, Rights Watchmen has condemned the preferential treatment being accorded the current Chief of Staff to the Governor of Osun State and an All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship aspirant, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola, by the state government of Governor Rauf Aregbesola.
This was contained as part of a statement issued and signed by the State Chairman of the group, Comrade Adebayo Babaranti.
According to the human rights group leader, information at the disposal of his group has revealed that as Alhaji Oyetola plans to submit his Letter of Intent to the party leadership in the state today, Governor Aregbesola has directed all the 68 councils' Executive Secretaries to hire minimum of four buses to convey people from their respective areas to Osogbo, the state capital for the event
To this end, Babaranti further revealed, the council bosses have been heavily provided with cash deducted from their respective monthly allocation for the task.
"In addition to this, all government ministries, agencies and parastatals have been directed by Governor Aregbesola to make available some of their official cars to ferry people to the party Secretariat along Gbongan/Ibadan Road in the state capital.
"All members of the state executive council have also been directed by the state governor to attend the event and show their support for Oyetola.
"One cannot but wonder why a government that profess to be frugal with the state scarce resources will go out of its way to satisfy only one of the numerous aspirants vying for the same position on the platform of the same party," the human rights group leader stressed.
He therefore urged all right-thinking members of the public to raise their voice against the use of public properties for the political aspiration of few privileged individuals.
He further reasoned over what makes Oyetola a special breed over all the other APC governorship aspirants in view of the underground support being accorded him by the state governor and his administration.
"As at last count, the party paraded about 27 aspirants on the day the state party leadership held a meeting with all those inspiring to take over from Aregbesola.
"How come the governor now gives preferential treatment to Oyetola despite serial denials that he had no anointed candidate from among all the APC aspirants," Babaranti further wondered.
It would be recalled that Alhaji Oyetola is a nephew to the National Leader of the APC, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.
Intelligence has also revealed that Oyetola was forced on Aregbesola by his mentor and leader, Tinubu who mandated the governor to ensure Oyetola's emergence at whatever cost.
Politics / Osun 2018: APC Members Oppose Option A4. by princeshegx: 11:30am On May 27, 2018
Contrary to opinion of some minority members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the State of Osun calling for the use of 'Option A4' in picking the party's flagbearer in the September 22 governorship election in the state, most members have risen against it warning that it will spell doom for the party.
This forms part of the general opinion of members during a survey conducted by the medium should the Option A4 method be adopted in picking the party's governorship candidate.
According to the medium's findings, most of the party members, wondered why Osun's case should be different among its peers across the country.
In their views, what sauces for the goose also sauce for the gander, as the popular indirect primaries have been used in picking the party's governorship candidates in Anambra, Ondo, Edo and recently in Ekiti States, why should the State of Osun's case be different.
In the opinion of a chieftain of the party from Ifedayo Local Government Council Area of the state, Alhaji Kamar Afolabi the Option A4 will worsen the party's chances at the September polls in view of its numerous demerits.
The octogenarian stressed that presently the party members and the leadership are not enjoying the best of relationship over the long delay before the ban on governorship aspirations was lifted
The Option A4, in his view, is prone to manipulations by the party leadership and even the government, as all the party members, who are expected to participate in the process may be scared from voting for the candidates of their choice.
"Tell me, who among the party members would have the gut to vote against the governor's preferred choice among the aspirants should the Option A4 method be adopted?
"None of them, I can confidently tell you," he stressed.
Another member of the party from Ikire, headquarters of Irewole Local Government Council Area of the state, Pa Samuel Adeleke spoke vehemently against the adoption of the Option A4 in picking the party's flagbearer as the members are likely to be intimidated even after the primaries by the governor and the party leadership for not voting for their preferred aspirant.
Most of the party members also noted that Option A4 is alien to past practices of the APC, as all candidates, including President Muhammadu Buhari were products of the indirect primaries and therefore wondered who among the party leadership members would want to turn the apple's cart by smuggling such into the party's electoral process at this time.
Other demerit of the Option A4 approach to picking the party's governorship candidate is the security challenge it might raise among the party members, as all the security personnel in the state may not even be enough to provide security at the venue of the state primaries.
Another vital point raised by the anti-option A4 proponents is that since the method demands that all card-carrying members of the party in the state would converge to queue behind their choices, some former members who had crossed to other parties may take advantage of the lapses to forment trouble and disrupt the process.
The party members therefore appealed to the party leadership at the state and national levels to turn deaf ears to those agitating for Option A4, as the method will likely send the party into extinction in the state.
"Those agitating for use of Option A4 are only after their selfish interest and not having the party's interest in their hearts.
"The pro-option A4 campaigners are either afraid that their preferred aspirant may lose, should the indirect primaries, which will involve only delegates, be adopted or they are simply on a self-serving mission," Mr Paul Fadiora, another APC from Ile-Ife, emphasized.

Politics / Osun 2018: Tinubu Invites APC Aspirants To Lagos by princeshegx: 11:33am On May 20, 2018
In what many are considering as desperate attempt by the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, to secure the party's governorship ticket for his nephew, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola, all the party's aspirants have been planned to be individually invited to Lagos.
Information made available to the medium revealed that Asiwaju Tinubu arrived at this option in view of a recent independent opinion survey he contracted to a firm which confirmed that his choice was the least popular among all the aspirants in the rating by party members in the state.
According to a credible source within the party in the state, Tinubu had invited a specialist in public opinion survey from the United Kingdom to visit Osun and conduct a survey among party members and the electorate with a view to seeing his nephew's chances at the fast-approaching gubernatorial primaries and eventually, the election.
The reports of the findings by the opinion poll consultant was straight and down to earth, indicated that Oyetola, among all the other aspirants within the party, had the least of chances of succeeding the incumbent Governor Rauf Aregbesola.
According to the report, party members have complained that Oyetola represents the Lagos cabal that have been feeding fat on the state resources since the inauguration of the current administration in the state.
In addition, no APC members in the state could be said to have benefited from Oyetola since he was appointed the Chief of Staff to the Governor in 2011.
"He is still possibly the only political office holder in this country that has an 'Out of Bounds' sign at the entrance to his office.
"Now tell me, should such a person succeed in becoming the governor of the state, nobody would have access to him," an APC stalwart emphasised.
Faced with the possibility of an imminent defeat at the party's governorship primaries, Tinubu was reported to have therefore resolved to individually invite each of the aspirants to his Boudillon residence in Lagos, with a view to possibly buy them out of the race.
First on the list of those to be invited are the current Secretary to the Government of the State of Osun, Alhaji Moshood Adeoti; the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Hon. Najeem Salaam among others.
To actualise this plan, the medium learnt that large sums of cash have been earmarked for any of the aspirants that agrees to step down for Tinubu's candidate, Oyetola before the governorship primaries.
How far Asiwaju Tinubu can go in his mission to buy-out the aspirants still remains a herculean task in view of the feelings among party members in the state, Oyetola's relationship with them is still at the lowest ebb.
"Oyetola is a stranger to Osun politics and cannot even boast of intimately knowing 100 of the APC members across the state.
"Is that one a governorship material? a partyman quizzed.
Politics / Osun 2018: APC Leaders Clamour For West To Produce Next Governor by princeshegx: 12:39pm On Apr 29, 2018
Ahead of the fast-approaching September 22 governorship election in the State of Osun, the All Progressives Congress (APC) chairmen and their secretaries in the ten council areas of Osun West Senatorial District have all appealed to the party leaders in the state to pick the next governor of the state from the West.
This was contained in a letter written and signed by all the chairmen and the secretaries presented to Chief Bisi Akande at his country home in Ila-Orangun.
According to the leader of the group, Alhaji Semiu Ayofe, the APC Chairman for Iwo Local Government Council Area of the state, the step taking by himself and his colleagues has become necessary in the spirit of justice and fair play.
Speaking further on the development, Ayofe maintained that only the West Senatorial has never had a full term on the governorship seat since the state was created in 1991.
"Aside Late Isiaka Adeleke's 20-month tenure as the first elected Executive Governor, no indigene of the senatorial district has been able to occupy the seat," Ayofe stressed.
He reiterated that other senatorial districts have always enjoyed the support of the West in the past in their quests to rule the state.
"All other senatorial districts have always enjoyed our support in the past in their quest to rule the state," he opined.
He therefore appealed to all the party leaders including Chief Bisi Akande and the Chairman of the Elders' Forum of the APC in state, Chief Sola Akinwumi to allow justice and fair play to reign in the party's choice of a governorship candidate.
Speaking in the same vein, one of the party secretaries, Mr. Adediran Adewoye wondered why some individuals are trying desperately to frustrate the West Senatorial District when it is its turn to produce the next governor of the state.
"Our senatorial district parades some of the best brains in their chosen fields of human endeavors.
"These individuals have all it takes to take the state to greater heights and even build on the current achievements recorded by the Governor Aregbesola's administration," Adediran emphasized.
The letter presented to Chief Akande, according to credible sources within the party, has other recipients who are also leaders of the party in their respective areas.

Politics / OSUN 2018: APC Group Refutes Report On Aregbesola's Directive To Adeoti by princeshegx: 11:38pm On Apr 28, 2018
A socio-political group within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the State of Osun has come out into the open to debunk a new material that has gone viral on the social media on a purported directive from the state Governor Rauf Aregbesola advising the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Moshood Olalekan Adeoti, to put in his resignation letter if indeed he was interested in contesting the forthcoming gubernatorial election in the state.
The rebuttal was contained in a statement issued and signed by the State Coordinator of Osun New Era Group (ONE-G), Mr Jamiu Raheem and made available to newsmen on Saturday in Osogbo, the state capital.
According to the group, the rebuttal has become necessary in view of the interest shown in the news material by supporters and members of the party in the state.
"Our response to the falsehood raised in the contents of the news material has become necessary in view of the interest generated by the supporters of our principal, Alhaji Moshood Olalekan Adeoti, being a front-runner in the race for who succeeds Governor Rauf Aregbesola at the end of his tenure come November 27, 2018.
" The news material, from all intent and purpose was the handiwork of some faceless individuals who are bent on sowing a seed of discord between our principal and Governor Aregbesola," the group stressed.
The ONE-G Coordinator in the state therefore admonished all party faithful and Alhaji Adeoti's loyalists to disregard the news material and go about their normal businesses.
"We want to admonish Alhaji Adeoti's supporters to disregard the malicious news item and go about their individual daily businesses," Raheem reiterated.
The group further maintained that no amount of such malicious publication can successfully scuttle Alhaji Adeoti's ambition to talk less of putting a spanner in the works of the existing good relationship existing between Alhaji Adeoti and Governor Aregbesola.

Politics / Condemnation Trails Aregbesola's Visit To Federal Constituencies. by princeshegx: 4:38am On Apr 24, 2018
Governor Rauf Aregbesola's ongoing visitations to the nine federal constituencies in the state has come under heavy attacks from all flanks of the party membership in the state.
The spate of condemnations came as a result of the governor's decision to allow only one of the governorship aspirants to be part of his entourage.
Findings by the medium among party members revealed the level of discontentment among the various groups over the governor's action.
The governor was equally condemned in his style of picking those who were to speak at his parley with party members during the meeting at the federal constituencies.
For instance, members queried the reason for picking Iyalojas to speak on the occasion, asking whether they are party members as the occasion ought to be a party affair.
The governor's decision to allow only three members who were alleged to have been tutored on what to say at the parley also came under heavy attacks by member of the party who spoke with the medium in confidence.
The major reason for the governor's planned parley with the party APC members in all the federal constituencies is believed to be the governorship aspirant and the current Chief of Staff to the Governor, Mr. Gboyega Oyetola, who is believed to have the backing of the National Leader of the ruling party, All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu for his aspiration.
The medium further gathered that Oyetola's aspiration has reportedly torn the party apart, as he is believed not to have the backing of majority of the party membership.
Another aspect that has received knocks from the party members was the preferential treatment accorded Oyetola over the current ban imposed on governorship aspiration in the party.
The Chief of Staff to the Governor was gathered to have started serious sponsorship of programmes on various electronic media in the state and even went a step further to brand several commercial mini-buses plying the state roads.
Party members have then expressed their dissatisfaction to the governor's decision to subtly start canvassing and dispalying of support for Oyetola's aspiration through the visit to the federal constituencies.
APC members have however expressed their resolve not to allow anyone, no matter his position in the party to truncate the unwritten agenda of having one of their own as Governor Aregbesola's successor during the September governorship election

Politics / Osun 2018: APC Members Show Concern by princeshegx: 12:54pm On Mar 07, 2018
As the two-week deadline for the lifting of embargo on governorship aspirations promised by the State Chairman of the All Progressives in Osun State, Prince Gboyega Famodun draws nearer, members of the party across the state have started getting apprehensive.
The medium, during a recent visit to the state, went round to gauge the mood of party members since the recent declaration by the party chairman to lift the ban and afford the aspirants the opportunity to move round the state in pursuance of their gubernatorial aspirations.
Many of the party members have equally used the opportunity of the medium's interview to express their concern for the party should the party leadership eats its word as expressed by the state chairman.
According to Mr Moruf Adeosun of Balogun Ward of Gbongan, headquarters of Ayedaade Local Government Council Area of the state, should the party go back on its word to lift the embargo as promised by Prince Famodun on Friday, it may mark the beginning of dwindling chances of the party in the final governorship election in September this year.
"Should the party leadership decide to eat its words by refusing to lift the embargo as promised by the party chairman in the state, our it may mark the beginning of of our party's losing chances at the September governorship election.
"My prayer is that the party leadership will do the needful and lift the embargo as promised and allow all the governorship aspirants to start their consultation in earnest," he said.
In his own opinion, another party chieftain from Ila-Orangun, Mr Afolabi Ajayi expressed his optimism that the party chairman will not diminish his personal integrity by eating his words by allowing the leadership under him to continue with the embargo on governorship aspirations.
"Prince Gboyega Famodun, in my own calculation, will not allow this issue to reduce his personal integrity among party members across the state.
"I trust the party leadership to do the needful by lifting the embargo and correct the impression that it's not being teleguided by some unseen forces resident outside the state," he stressed.
In the words of another party chieftain from Ilesa, Alhaji Abdurasheed Abe; "I don't know what and who is holding the hands of the party leadership from lifting the embargo.
" In my personal opinion, the party leadership at the center should urgently mandate the state chapter to lift the embargo and allow all those interested in the governorship seat to start their consultation in earnest."
In Osogbo, the state capital, feelings of party members are not different from those expressed by others outside the state capital.
Some of the medium's respondents expressed their resolve to force their candidates to follow the footsteps of some of the aspirants who had for long started their political consultations without waiting for the party directive by throwing in their hats into the ring.
"The party leadership in the state cannot hold us to ransom any longer on our candidates' aspirations.
"We are all indeed tired of the party leadership's continued embargo.
"Of what essence is the embargo that allows a particular aspirant to go ahead with his own consultation and even airing of his jingles on radio, while holding down the hands of other aspirants. This is quite against the spirit of equity and fairplay.
The medium further gathered that there currently exist uneasy silence within the party across the state as members await the lifting of the embargo as promised by the state chairman on a radio programme barely two weeks ago.
Politics / Osun APC Leadership Exposed -orders LG To Finance Political Group's Retreat by princeshegx: 6:11am On Mar 04, 2018
The entire leadership of the Osun State chapter of the ruling-All Progressives Congress (APC) has been alleged of using the tax payers' money to finance a group of the party, named Legacy Group, believed to be consisting of individuals purposely recruited to work for the emergence of a choice governorship aspirant ahead of the party's governorship primaries.
Recent intelligence made available to the medium revealed that each of the 66 local government councils and the local council development authorities (LCDAs) were mandated to raise the sum of N30,000 for the group to hold a three-day retreat in Ogbomoso, Oyo State.
The choice of Ogbomoso as the venue of the clandestine retreat was based on the concern raised by the group's masterminds.
According to sources close to the group, the leader of the group is the current State Chairman of the APC, Prince Gboyega Famodun, who opined that should the retreat be held in Osun, the people would eventually get to know about it and all its plans may be scuttled.
The major objective of the group retreat was to educate members on the need to ensure the emergence of a choice governorship aspirant rumoured to have the backing of some prominent leaders of the party resident outside the state.
The attendance at the retreat included some of the cabinet members and party chieftains who served as resource persons inculcating in the attendees the need to mobilise support for the choice governorship aspirant.
However, questions being asked by political leaders and observers from the opposition side include why the party should put such burden of financing a political group's retreat on the local government councils.
In his own opinion, an Osogbo-based independent political observer, Alhaji Bashir Aremu, wondered why a ruling-party that claimed to be fighting corruption would go to the extent of forcing local government councils to part with money to finance a political group's retreat.
"Sometimes I wonder whether there is any difference between the immediate-past administration of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state and the current APC regime.
"The idea of mandating all local government councils to finance a political group retreat is repulsive.
"To me, the party leadership needs to come out clean and explain its own side on this grievous allegation for the people to see what actually is the true situation," he stressed.
All efforts to speak with Prince Famodun on the allegations proved abortive as all his telephone lines were switched off, further confirming the allegation that he was possibly at the retreat directing the affairs of the Legacy Group.
Politics / APC Group, Members Congratulate Adeoti At 65 by princeshegx: 4:01pm On Feb 26, 2018
Members and executives of the Osun New Era Group (ONE-G), an affiliate of the ruling-All Progressives Congress (APC) in the State of Osun have started showering encomiums on the current Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Moshood Olalekan Adeoti, on the occasion of his 65th birthday.
This was contained in a statement issued and signed by the State Coordinator of the group, Mr Jamiu Ibrahim and made available to the press.
According to the group, Alhaji Adeoti has consistently been an embodiment of what progressive politics should be not just within the Southwest geo-political zone but the entire country at large.
According to the APC group, the man, Adeoti has paid his dues as a leader as reflected in all his actions while he was the party chairman in the state during the most turbulent period in the political history of the state.
The group reflected on the period preceding and following the 2007 governorship election when members of the opposition party were being arrested and clamped into detention on trumped-up charges ranging from arson and bomb explosion.
"Throughout the period mentioned above, Adeoti and some others remained committed to the progressive ideals of the party.
" Throughout the period of his incarceration, he remained unperturbed and never for once betrayed the course of his progressive politics despite numerous overtures extended to him by the then PDP-led administration in the state.
"As a group, all we can do to celebrate this political icon of our time is to jointly continue to pray that Almighty Allah will would spare his life to continue to be a shinning light to the younger progressive elements within the APC fold in the state and even beyond," the group prayed.
In the same vein, another political and civil society group, the People's Welfare League (PWL) also added to the numerous congratulatory messages coming the way of the frontline politician by wishing him success in all his future political endeavours.
According to the State Coordinator of the group, Comrade Abiodun Agboola, the celebrant has become a role model to most of the group members.
He therefore wished Alhaji Adeoti more celebration of the day in good health and prosperity.
In his own congratulatory message, a frontline APC member and current Leader of the House in Iwo Local Government Council, Mr Tunde Akinlawon, praised the celebrant for his style of politics and doggedness in the his struggle to ensure a better Osun and prayed for his long life.

Politics / 2018, All Eyes On Osun by princeshegx: 2:01pm On Feb 14, 2018
As the race to Bola IGE House gathers momentum, I beg to lend my personal views along with all other well-meaning stakeholders who have taken their time to x-ray all the various prospective aspirants aiming to take over from the current Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola-led administration in Osun State.
Despite the general opinion, coupled with affirmation by the likes of the former National Chairman of the APC and Ex-governor, Chief Bisi Akande, that the next governor of the state should come from Osun West Senatorial District, some powers-that-be in the state are taking the party's silence on zoning to their advantage by throwing their hats into the ring despite their coming from other senatorial districts that have produced governors in the past.
Greater attention has been focussed on the aspirants from the ruling-All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state. The reason for this is not far-fetched in view of the credentials of the APC aspirants, unlike those from the opposition parties, especially the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), whose aspirations and attitude to the race, in my own opinion, are far from being categorized as being serious.
For the purpose of this write-up, I wish to e-ray only some of the APC aspirants and their chances at the party primaries and eventually at the governorship election.

Moshood Olalekan Adeoti (Osun West Senatorial District):

The current Secretary to the Government (SSG) of Osun State is a grassroots politician, whose records and antecedents as party chairman in the state have become reference points among politicians even beyond the state.
Records abound of various remands in the two prisons in the state on sheer court pronouncements over spurious charges under the immediate-past PDP administration in the state.
All the charges against the Iwo-born frontline politician were eventually quashed when the current administration of Governor Aregbesola came on board in 2010.
To an average political observer in the state, Adeoti has paid his dues as a progressive politician in view of his personal relationship with all politicians from all political divides.
In the words of a politician (name withheld) from the opposition fold: "With Adeoti in the saddle coupled with his grassroots connection, no politician has anything to fear as he is highly regarded and respected for his ability to identify all by their first names.
"Should Adeoti eventually clinch the APC ticket, the opposition would have difficult task of making any significant impact at the governorship poll.
"My assumption is not unfounded. This is a man that single-handedly brought the incumbent governor to the state and introduced him to the political landscape and even sacrificed his personal comfort and reputation to ensure he won the governorship election in 2007.
"Our collective prayer in my party is that the APC delegates should make the mistake of not making him their party flagbearer. I can assure you that all opposition parties in the state will come together to anoint him as their choice at the governorship poll."

Lasun Yusuf (Osun Central Senatorial District):

The current Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives is seen by many in the state as a politician enjoying mass followership only in view of his deep pocket.
The reason for this is not far-fetched. Majority of APC members in the state over time have been so impoverished by the current economic realities to such a level that when Yusuf came and offered to put them on regular incomes, they all seized the opportunity with both of their hands.
The Ilobu-born politician is also seeing as a serious contender for the coveted seat of the governor of the state.
Aside some pockets of his supporters in the state capital, Osogbo, not much of his aspiration is felt in other council areas across the state.

Gboyega Isiaka Oyetola (Osun Central Senatorial District):

The Iragbiji-born and current Chief of Staff to the Governor of Osun State is a man believed to be representing some very powerful interests in high places within the party.
The successful insurance guru was introduced to party politics through his current appointment in 2011. Though, regarded as a stranger in the state politics, Oyetola has been rumoured in several quarters as the preferred candidate of some highly-placed politicians outside the state.
Reports abound of how has been using some party members believed to be very close to him to assist him in his aspiration as he has never developed any personal relationship with any of the party members across the state.

Najeem Folasayo Salaam (Osun West Senatorial District):

The Ejigbo-born and current Speaker of the State House of Assembly is a man believed to be in the good books of some party members who have benefitted from his open-handedness.
Popularly called Iwaloye by his numerous admirers, Salaam is also believed to be a serious contender despite the fact that the major impact of his aspiration can only be seen and felt in Ejigbo, his immediate constituency.

Lere Oriolowo (Osun West Senatorial District)

The Iwo-born technocrat and current Senior Adviser to the Governor on Osun Rural Access Mobility Project (O'RAMP) has been reported to be an old classmate of the governor since their students days at the Ploytechnic, Ibadan , Oyo State, with unrestricted access to him at all times.
While consulting with party members across the state in furtherance of his governorship ambition, he has left no one in doubt by claiming that he is the governor's anointed candidate ahead of the party primaries.
So far, no visible structure has been inaugurated by him or any of his cronies in the state despite all his claims.

Elder Peter Babalola (Osun West Senatorial District):

A PDP decampee and current Chairman of the State Local Government Service Commission has been an aspirant to the governorship seat ever before the current Fourth Republic.
He was an active participant in the immediate-past PDP administration in which he served as the Chief of Staff to the Governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola administration.
He however quickly jumped ship barely few weeks to the coming on board of the current administration in the state in 2010.
No structure of his aspiration has so far been observed in any of the council areas across the state.
Formally called "Peter Power" by his followers during his hey days in the PDP, Babalola has been gathered to be banking on religion to further his aspiration.
Sources close to him reveal that Babalola believes that it is the turn of a Christian to become the governor of the state.

Kunle Rasheed Adegoke alias K-RAD (Osun Central Senatorial District):

The lawyer cum activist-turned politician is believed to be a newcomer in Osun politics.
He has however been making waves with his media campaign and visits to some political group meetings.
No visible structure working on his aspiration can be seen across the state.

However, some more aspirants are still emerging from the ruling-APC ahead of the fast-approaching gubernatorial primaries to be conducted by the party leadership from the national headquarters.
How aspirants from other senatorial districts aside the west hope to cross the huddle despite the feelings of generality of the state masses, remains a game all await with baited breath.
Meanwhile, all fingers remain crossed as the party moves towards its gubernatorial primaries in the state.

Politics / Race To Bola IGE House: Desperate APC Leaders Mount Pressure On Oyegun To Doctor by princeshegx: 3:41pm On Feb 06, 2018
Some influential leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State have been fingered in a grand plan aimed at doctoring the delegate list ahead of the party primaries scheduled to be held in in April in the state soon.
According to credible intelligence gathered from the party hierarchy in the state, the plan is being financed by a powerful force within the party that is bent on foisting their preferred choice on the state electorate.
Highly credible sources within the party further exposed that the preferred choice is a technocrat and a 'stranger' to party politics in the state.
To achieve this heinous and undemocratic plan, a huge war chest had been earmarked for the plan to succeed at all cost.
According to reliable sources within the party in the state, the recent election of councillors through what many perceived as imposition was done to test the political waters ahead of the governorship plan.
The success of the plan so far has bouyed the resolve of the hatchet politicians to impose their will on the party and the electorate.
Sources further hinted that the party's National Chairman, Chief Odigie Oyegun's known stance for strict adherence to internal democracy in APC has been weakened since the open letter written by ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo to President Mohammadu Buhari was made public.
The letter, according to credible party sources, has sent jitters down the spine of the party national leadership of APC; a situation that has now forced the Oyegun-led executive to compromise.
The leadership of the party in the state has therefore been mandated to fish-out names of likely delegates that may not support the technocrat being sponsored to win the governorship election in the state.
The question on the lips of APC members in the state is: What is now the fate of those who have been duly elected as party executives, who invariably would form the chunk of party delegates but who are not in the good books of the party leadership in the state?
As a result of this recent development, an uneasy calm now pervades the party hierarchy and membership across all the council areas in the state.
