*Osun 2022:Federal High Court Grants Babayemi's Prayers*
...... overrules PDP

A Federal High Court sitting in Osogbo, Osun State, on Wednesday, granted the application of the state Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) gubernatorial candidate, Omooba Dotun Babayemi, for abridgement of time in a suit against the PDP, INEC and Senator Ademola Adeleke.

The court overulled the bid of the PDP to stop Babayemi's application for the abridgement of time in the case

Babayemi, in a suit with No:FHC/OS/CyS/26/2022 and presided over by Hon.Justice N.Ayo-Emmauel, is challenging that the respondents did not use the authentic party delegate list as ordered by the state High Court sitting in Ijebu-Jesa, presided over by Hon.Justice Adeyinka Aderibigbe.

I.T Tewogbola represented PDP while INEC and Senator Ademola Adeleke, were not represented at the proceedings.

Mr Yusuf Ali (SAN),leading other Counsels for the plaintiff, had applied for the abridgement of time so as to accelerate the hearing of the case and the Counsel to PDP opposed the application which was overruled by the court.

To this effect, the court granted Babayemi's prayers for the abridgement of time of 15 days for the respondents to file their respective responses while the applicant was given 2 days to file his further affidavit.

Consequently, Hon.Justice Ayo-Emmanuel adjourned the case to Wednesday,11th May,2022, for the hearing of the Substantive matter.

It is recalled that while on 3rd March,2022, an Osun State High Court sitting in Ijebu-Jesa, had authenticated the ward congress that produced 215 delegates under the then state Chairman, on 10th March,2022, again, the same court pronounced that the PDP governorship primary election that produced Omooba Dotun Babayemi as the gubernatorial candidate, was the legally recognized because the delegates that voted for him were the ones backed by the law.

Osun 2022: Babayemi Remains PDP Candidate -Lawyer

Omooba Dotun Babayemi, the gubernatorial candidate of the Osun State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), remains the legally recognized flag bearer of the party for the July 16 governorship election, Barrister Edmund Biriomoni has clarified.

Biriomoni gave the clarification while speaking with journalists against the background of the sine die adjournment of an Osun State High Court sitting in Ijebu-Jesa presided over by Justice Adeyinka Aderibigbe in a case between Ademola Adedokun and 29 others against the PDP and INEC.

On the 3rd of March,2022, the Court granted an order recognizing the Ward Executive Officers of the party that produced the 215 delegates. On the 10th of March again, the Court declared through its Order of Mandatory Interim Injunction, that Babayemi was the legally recognized candidate of the party, having been elected by delegates backed by the law

However,in its sitting today, Wednesday, the Court adjourned sine die due to the appeal currently at the Court of Appeal.

Expatiating on the implications of the Court position, Biriomoni who is Counsel to the plaintiffs, maintained that the Gbongan-born politician remains the party gubernatorial candidate because of the subsisting orders.

"The Court orders of 3rd and 10th of March,2022,are still subsisting;valid and binding on parties concerned. Omo Oba Dotun Babayemi still remains the candidate of the party" he assured

"Yes, the implication is that the statu quo remains;it means the court will go comatose till they finish from Court of Appeal. They have shot themselves at the foot. It means that the status quo remains which implies that the two earlier court orders granted in favour of the plaintiffs are still subsisting" he further clarified

He added that the court did not set aside its orders, stressing, "it only stayed further proceedings and as of the time the court was staying further proceedings, what was the status quo? The status quo was that two orders were granted on 3rd and 10th of March,2022, respectively"

Biriomoni derided those jubilating as being ignorant of the position of law, insisting that "their jubilation amounts to self-delusion and foolishness. These people have killed themselves and have at the same time, locked the door against themselves"

The Counsel said procedurally, the Ademola Adeleke group had taken wrong steps, explaining that " there are ways to go in this kind of a route but unfortunately, they have gotten everything wrong and wasted their own time"

Osun 2022: Babayemi Counsels PDP Leadership

Gubernatorial candidate of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun State,Omo Oba Dotun Babayemi, has implored the national leadership of the party led by Senator Iyorchia Ayu to be cautious in the manner and ways it is handling the affairs of the party in the state.

This, according to Babayemi, has become imperative if the party is desirous of winning the coveted governorship seat at the July polls.

In a statement made available to newsmen in Osogbo on Wednesday, the PDP candidate noted that the state would be won convincingly with his candidature due to his antecedents which have been evident in the support he has been receiving across the state.

"The onus is now on us to put our house in order and this is where the support of everybody, especially the national leadership of our party, is germane. Enough of bickering, hide-and-seek and related shenanigans" he cautioned

The governorship hopeful averred that the people of the state were already tired of the administration of All Progressive Congress (APC) in the state "and they're desperately yearning for a change through me"

"So if our great party under the leadership of Senator Iyorchia Ayu is truly desirous of clinching the governorship seat at the coming state election, then everything must be done rightly to rally round my emergence as the party candidate endorsed by stakeholders and members across the state" he maintained.

Babayemi insisted that as someone on rescue mission, his eventual victory at the coming polls would go a long way in rejuvenating the psyche of the people of the state that had been bruised due to bad governance.

Of Autism,Adeleke & Osun

By Afolabi Ismail

John Maxwell is a renowned and prolific American writer whose literary works, are majorly focused on leadership. Maxwell in one of his works surmised that, "The strength of any organisation is a direct result of the strength of its leader. Weak leaders equal weak organisations. Strong leaders equal strong organisations. Everything rises and falls on leadership"

In every facet of human endeavors, this is true to life. In fact, Maxwell, while ingraining the above words on the marble, might have had in mind, places like Osun State which is gearing to elect a new helmsman.

Quite indisputably, Osun State is blessed with immense human and natural resources. It is peopled by a population of about five million.

The implication of this is that whoever will lead the state must be mentally and emotionally balanced. With the process of electing a new governor for the state already on, a number of individuals have signified their intentions to occupy the coveted seat to become the next occupier of Government House at Oke-fia in the ancient town.

One of them is Senator Nurudeen Jackson Adeleke whose life, career, etc, are steeped in controversies; and whose aspiration, for so many equally controversial reasons, has continued to generate ruckus in and outside Osun.

To majority of the people of the state who are opposing Ademola Adeleke's aspiration as a result of his obvious deficiencies, it will be an insult if somebody like him whose life, they believe, is dotted with alleged imbecility, is ever allowed to take charge of a state like Osun, which is so blessed with mature and brilliant minds.

Ademola's deficiencies enveloped in mental disability, could be traceable to autism that had assailed him since birth. This unpalatable development, the Adeleke family has been keeping away from the prying eyes of the public for many years.

Autism, for those who do not know, is a form of mental impairment that affects the behavioral pattern of the victim in the areas of social relations, repetitiveness, speech and non verbal communications, among others

The effect of this is what has been trailing Ademola Adeleke up till today. This explains why he lacks communication skills; this is why he can neither read nor write; it is why he cannot effectively function on his own without being guided and goaded; that is why he is academically deficient, and that is why he is incurably focused on one thing – dancing.

Uncomfortably, Ademola is always a happy-go guy whenever he hears rollicking drums which explains why he always has his dancing shoes on – even when he was in the hallowed red chamber of the National Assembly, like Nigerians witnessed in utter dismay while he was a Senator! Unknown to many, it is more than ordinary; it is one of the effects of autism by which the man’s life is being buffeted!

In fact, the much touted degree he claimed to have bagged from an American University, was an online programme said to have been undertaken on his behalf by his Personal Assistant, named Kunle.

Insistence of Adeleke's family to force Ademola on the people of the state by all means is not only an insult but an anathema to a sophisticated setting like Osun. Is it not an absurdity and aberration that someone who is being nannied and taken care of like a baby, is the one the family still wants to force on the state to become its governor? This really contradicts logic.

Maxwell was right; a weak leader in him, will for real, beget a very weak Osun if their agenda is allowed to sail through.

All the hangers-on who are hailing him are only doing so because of the money received.

While one is not rejoicing over Ademola's predicament, it will however be very disheartening and quite unpatriotic of the PDP to impose on the people of Osun State, the ever-frolicking “dancing Senator" whose seeming liveliness at such dancing moments, is merely a shrouded expression of his mental disability, resulting from an underlying ailment.

If, indeed, the PDP is serious about winning the governorship election and not to blow away this golden chance through the greed of some leaders, then the leadership must take a bold step to choose a competent hand among those currently angling for the seat within the party.

More importantly, with the complexity of governance coupled with the myriad of problems which the APC administration has invested the state and its people with, it is only a sound mind who is proven to be mentally and emotionally stable, alert, selfless and, above all, a top banana who can go the full hog in taking progressive decisions that can bail the state out of its present doldrums, that is needed. Not someone that is fickle-minded who will be railroaded into taking actions; one who can easily be manipulated and one who will be driving only by proxy.

An end must come to the reigns of our lords of the manor. It is our collective decisions and actions that can end this. Our 'never-again' affirmation to this must be resoundingly thunderous!

Only then can we be said to be ready to rescue the state; only then can we be said to be ready to steer it into a better and brighter future that we all wish for, pray for and we deserve.

Our destiny is in our hands!

Osun 2022: Unholy Marriage Between Ayu, Adelekes.

Recent happenings in the People's Democratic Party(PDP) and especially as it affects Osun chapter of the party, calls for sober reflections. To this end, this is a clarion call to leaders of thoughts and right-thinking members of our party to save our state and the party from pathological liars and wheeler-dealers as represented by the National Chairman and his cohorts who are selfishly playing with the chances and the opportunities for Osun PDP to take over the mantle of leadership in the state from APC, come July 16, this year.

Indications have emerged that our number one PDP member is at it again in his typical sleazy manner, this time around, toying with our future and those of our children yet unborn in Osun State by taking gratifications to sell out Osun State and impose Senator Ademola Adeleke as the party's gubernatorial candidate. Our national Chairman has been bought over as encased in the "gift" of a jeep which worth hundreds of millions accompanied with some crispy thousands of dollars. Hmmm....,he and his co-travelers should remember that conscience is an open wound.

It is an open secret that taking bribes is stock-in-trade of Dr Iyorchia Ayu.Examples abound! One can not forget in a hurry, his involvement in the Dasukigate saga where he allegedly collected the sum of *N345m* from the controversial arms deal fund; again, remember,he was hurriedly and disgracefully dropped from the Obasanjo cabinet for similar self-gratifying scandals, not to talk of his impeachment as Senate president in 1993. Surely, when the head is rotten, the whole body becomes useless. Any wonder that other members of the executive of our great party are now on bribe-taking spree from one "baba olowo" just to truncate the wishes of the people of Osun?

*REVEALED*
1. Senator Iyorchia Ayu met with Dr Deji Adeleke, the billionaire, a self-professed member of PDP and brother to Ademola Adeleke, one of the six PDP aspirants in Osun, in his house at Maitama, Abuja, on Monday, 31st January, 2022.This was a day before stakeholders from Osun which included some elders, had meeting with the National Working Committee NWC,in Abuja. On that fateful Monday which preceded the stakeholders' meeting, Ayu, the man we collectively entrusted with the destiny of our party, clandestinely held one hour meeting alone with Dr Deji Adeleke in his Library(Ayu's) at his Maitama home in Abuja. The begging question is:Was Osun PDP ticket sold and bought that day?

2.The Iyorchia Ayu team appointed an Appeal Panel and in their reports, warned that Senator Ademola Adeleke’s credentials should be rechecked and thoroughly scrutinized before submission to INEC. Was this not the job the Screening Committee ought to have done with utmost sincerity and seriousness? The Screening Committee failed in this regard as it was perfunctory in its approach. Does the fear in some quarters that a well-woven script was already in place to ensure that Ademola Adeleke's name will be the one to be sent to INEC, not confirm that the ticket had already been sold and bought before the party primaries by Iyorcha Ayu's PDP Working Committee?

The recent court judgement which joyously prompted majority in the party to heave a sigh of relief that they have been freed from the bondage of imposition being hatched by our national party leaders who are hell bent in foisting the candidature of Ademola Nurudeen Ifeayin Jackson Adeleke on discerning and already agitated members of PDP in Osun.
That Adeleke's emergence will automatically spell doom and misfortune to our party and its teeming members,is non-negotiable. Worse still, determined to shipwreck the yearning aspirations of thousands of people of Osun to see the PDP enthroned in the state later this year, out of the blues, came the appointment on Thursday, 16th February, 2022, of the Osun PDP PRO, Sunday Bisi, who has been acting as Senator Ademola Adeleke's Campaign Manager for over two years now, touring all local governments in the state in Adeleke's campaign paraphernalia. Yet, the same man(Sunday Bisi), is who our almighty national leadership is insisting must be our acting Chairman in the state a development that is antithetical and flagrant disobedience to what court judgement says. Is this not enough proof that Iyorchia Ayu and the PDP NWC have sold out the PDP governorship ticket before the party primaries? Can a leopard ever change its spots?

The good people of Osun are calling on the PDP Governors across Nigeria as leaders of the party, to rescue us by not allowing Iyorchia Ayu to sell our future for the sake of dollars to a person who can neither read nor write. A proper screening to evaluate the six PDP aspirants vis a vis their abilities, competences and capabilities to govern Osun was never carried out because Iyorchia Ayu chose to sell the ticket to the highest bidder after collecting N21M each from 6 aspirants. Self-serving and pecuniary gains on the part of leaders, will only take us to a dreary destination if we fail to chart the right course
Our respectable leaders, elders and party faithful should rise against the tyrannical antics of these conscienceless and unrepentant money- for-posts politicians.Unfortunately, this is why Nigeria has continued to move in a spot without making any progress because we prefer with glee, to always sacrifice merits on the altar of greed.
Is the PDP, particularly at the national level, seriously desirous of winning Osun at the forthcoming polls? Then, those saddled with this responsibilities must choose right and with the fear of God too.

They were however stunned as the governorship hopeful shouted at them, saying he was not at the venue to grant press interviews.
He was not helped by his supporters who also claimed they were not at the screening exercise to grant press interviews.
One of them was heard by our credible source also shouting on the pressmen to keep their distance, as their principal was not ready for any press interviews.
It would be recalled how Senator Ademola Adeleke had severally turned down requests by numerous broadcast media houses to feature on their programmes.

PoliticsOsun 2018: APC Witnesses Confirm Error On Records by princeshegx(op): 6:38pm On Jan 30, 2019
Witnesses of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State on Wednesday confirmed there were errors in the entries made in Form EC. 8A on the certified copies of election results in Ede North and Ede South Local Governments of Osun State respectively.

In spite of the noticeable discrepancy on the results sheets, it did not affect the results declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in the affected polling units.

This revelation was made by APC witnesses while giving evidence at the resumed hearing of the Osun Election Petition Tribunal presided over by Justice Muhammad Siraju in Abuja on Wednesday.

Led in evidence by Abiodun Owonikoko, SAN, the witnesses insisted that though Senator Ademola Adeleke and the PDP were declared winners in their polling units in Ede, the alterations on the pink copies of From EC.8A (the results sheet) did not affect the outcome of the election since it was INEC that effected the correction and properly counter-signed them.

Under cross-examination by Dr. Onyechi Ikpeazu, SAN, the witnesses who served as agents of the APC told the Tribunal that the PDP won the election in their units.

Ikpeazu had tasked the witnesses to read the contents of columns 2, 3 and 8 of the Forms EC.8A for each of the polling units where the witnesses served as agents of APC to identify alteration and signatures made to them.

Olawuyi Oluranti Joseph of house number 53, Agbangudu Street, Ede who was asked to look at the certified true copy (CTC) of Form EC.8A for Polling Unit 07, Ward 03, Ede South Local Government of Osun State, confirmed that they were the same though his name that he wrote on the pink coloured copy was not on the CTC.

Olawuyi confirmed under cross-examination by the lead counsel to INEC, Mr. Adesina Agbede, that he voted only once while other voters were able to perform their civic duties on elections day.

The witness told the tribunal in his evidence that he was at his polling unit from the beginning of the election to the end stressing that all voters were accredited before voting.

According to Olawuyi, though the pink copy was not as clear as the CTC, it did not affect the outcome of the election won by the PDP in his polling unit.

When cross-examined by Ikpeazu, the APC witness who confirmed seeing his name as he wrote it on the clean copy but was not found on the pink copy insisted that the discrepancy did not affect the outcome of the election.

The fourth respondent witness called to give evidence before the Tribunal went on midday break was Ganiyu Muedeen Olalekan of 20H, Ojularede Street, Ede, Osun State, told the tribunal that all the regulations stipulated for the election were followed including accreditation of every voter before casting their ballots.

Grilled by Ikpeazu, the PDP lead counsel, the witness told the Tribunal he did not thumbprint his written deposition on oath but signed it by himself at the registry of the Tribunal in Osogbo.

Ikpeazu then requested that Olalekan be given a piece of blank paper for him to write his name which the witness complied with.

When he was called to the witness box, Badmus Adekunle of 26, Rabiu Babalola Street, Ede, who was agent for polling unit 02, Ward 07 of Ede North Local Government told the tribunal that the results were announced in his presence.

Stating that he voted on the day of election, Adekunle while being given the CTC and the clean copy to compare side by side, heconfirmed that figure 52 which was contained on column 3 of Exhibits R. 108 and R. 108A were the same.

Though there were alterations on the pink copy of the election result, the witness affirmed that the signatures on the CTC was not his own and that it was not on Exhibit 108A for his polling Unit.

He told the tribunal that his complaint as claimed in his deposition were contained in paragraph five of the written statement on oath adding that he did not know when the alterations on the pink copy were made.

Questioned by Ikpeazu, SAN for the petitioner, confirmed that the total number of accredited voters for his unit was 270, the total valid votes was 264 while the total votes cast was 274.
