Man who named his dog ‘Buhari’ released on bail

Joe Chinakwe, the trader who was charged in Ogun State for allegedly naming and inscribing ‘Buhari’ on his pet dog, has been released from prisons after meeting his bail conditions.

Mr. Chinakwe faces a one-count charge of intention to cause breach of public peace. He was arraigned before Bolaji Ojikutu of Sango-Otta Magistrate’s Court on Monday morning and was subsequently granted a N50,000 bail.
He was transferred to prisons while his family sought money for his released. Chinakwe met his bail conditions yesterday after receiving about N90,000 through fundraising appeal coordinated by a human rights lawyer, Inibehe Effiong. He was released around noon on Thursday and went straight to his residence in Sango-Otta, Ogun State.
The trade was first arrested on August 14 after police received complaints from a neighbour, Halilu Umar, that he had named his dog ‘Buhari’ in an apparent attempt to ridicule his father, whose name is ‘Alhaji Buhari’.

Chairman, Alimosho Local Government in Lagos, Mr. Ganiyu Quadri, said on Tuesday, that the agro-business scheme run by the Lagos State government in Kebbi State will put an end to the high cost of foodstuff in the Southwest, Chairman, Alimosho Local Government in Lagos, Mr. Ganiyu Quadri, said on Tuesday.

Specifically, the council boss said the price of a bag of rice, which is N18,500, will drop to N9,000 before December.

Quadri gave the assurance while receiving a delegation of Rotary Club of Akowonjo 9110, led by its District-Governor, Patrick Ikheloa, and President, Shola Abidakun.

According to the council chief, the All Progressives Congress (APC) administration in Lagos swung into agro-business to ensure food security for its people.

“By the end of this year, or first quarter next year, things will change in Lagos. Already, we are into agro-business in Kebbi State. We have massive land on which we planted grains, among which is rice, our people’s staple food. And it is expected that the truck-loads of rice will storm Lagos soon.

“So, I can assure you that before the end of this year, the price of a bag of rice, which is N18,000, will drop to N9,000.”

Quadri, who regretted the financial strains in which councils found themselves, said one of the mandates of sole administrators was to see how they could pay up debts owed by councils.

Earlier, the Rotary Club’s President, Abidakun, who said the club was welcoming its governor, Ikheloa, to the district, stressed the need for partnership between the Rotary Club and government organs in alleviating the people’s suffering.

The Rotary Club also visited the Akowonjo Health Care Centre and donated mosquito nets and other clinical facilities.

It visited Little Saints Orphanage Home in Akowonjo, also donating foods, toiletries, beddings and others to the children.

A baby girl was born during the club’s visit to the Akowonjo Health Centre. Abidakun named the baby, ‘Sholape’, meaning, ‘the child’s prosperity is complete.’

Exam Malpractice in UNIZIK

Exactly 183 persons were arrested by the authorities of the Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Anambra State, for an alleged impersonation during the examination screening exercise in the institution.

The Vice Chancellor of the institution, Prof. Joseph Ahaneku, disclosed the arrest in an interview with journalists at the 32nd inaugural lecture of the institution, with the theme: ‘Anatomy of Fraud and Corruption in Nigeria: A search for the Pandora Box and Panacea’ by Prof. Emma Okoye, Describing the act as the height of corruption in the institution.

Ahaneku however expressed disappointment with the way the matter was handled by the security operatives who released the suspects soon after they were handed over to them for further interrogation and prosecution.

The vice-chancellor accused parents of abating corruption by influencing their wards admission, warning that no amount of intimidation will deter his administration from fighting examination malpractices, cultism and other forms of vices in the institution.

Independent Antivirus Lab Test Results
Around the world, researchers at independent antivirus testing labs spend their days putting antivirus tools to the test. Some of these labs regularly release public reports on their findings. I follow five such labs closely: AV-Comparatives, AV-Test Institute, Simon Edwards Labs (the successor to Dennis Technology Labs), Virus Bulletin, and MRG-Effitas. Useful Features
Just about every antivirus product scans files on access to make sure malware can’t launch, and also scans the entire system on demand, or on a schedule you set. Once that cleaning and scheduling is done, blocking all access to malware-hosting URLs is another good way to avoid trouble. Many products extend that protection to also steer users away from fraudulent websites, phishing sites that try to steal login credentials for financial sites and other sensitive sites. One easy way to keep your PC protected is to install all security updates, both for Windows and for browsers and other popular applications. Starting with Windows 10, Windows updates aren’t optional for consumers, but there are plenty of security holes in popular apps and add-ons. Scanning for vulnerabilities in the form of missing updates is a feature most often found in commercial antivirus products, but it does turn up in some free ones. In the chart above you can see which products include these useful features.

What’s Not Here
This article reports only on free antivirus products that received at least a good rating in our reviews—three stars or better. Among those that didn’t make the cut is Microsoft Windows Defender, with 2.5 stars. All of the independent labs I follow do include Microsoft in testing, but most use it as a baseline. If a product can’t do better than the baseline, it’s got real problems.

FortiClient fans may notice that this product doesn’t appear in chart. It did get three stars, but it’s quite different from the rest. FortiClient is actually designed to work as a client for Fortinet’s network security appliance, but is incidentally available as a free standalone.

Furthermore, I’m aware that my review of Bitdefender’s Free Antivirus is getting long in the tooth, but the company simply doesn’t update its free utilities as often as its premium ones. Rest assured, I’m in close contact with Bitdefender and I’ll review its new offering when it becomes available next month.

What’s Best
Our current Editors’ Choice products for free antivirus utility are Avast Free Antivirus, AVG AntiVirus Free and Panda Free Antivirus. All three get very good scores from the independent labs, and in our own tests as well. All three include some useful bonus features. Avast in particular packs a password manager and a network security scanner in its toolkit. If you do have a little cash in your budget for security, the best paid antivirus products do tend to offer more and better protection. If not, try a few of these free tools and see which one you like best.

Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) yesterday said the 2016 admissions for tertiary institutions would not be based on the point system, instead, it would be determined by the criteria of merit, catchment areas and educationally disadvantaged states.
JAMB said the point-based system allowed institutions admitting students to rely on their O’level examination results to grade and score applicants for admission, thereby diverting from the laid down procedures for admission.

According to JAMB’s Head of Information, Dr Fabian Benjamin, contrary to the recent speculation that the 2016 admission would depend solely on the point-based system, universities, polytechnics and colleges of education have been directed to focus on merit, catchment areas and educationally disadvantaged states.

I don't know all this long story some people are writing. For me i am a blogger and i make about $40 dailyand still increasing (i am into my sixth month of blogging). I make use of only adsense and i make sure i post lastest content daily. I spend about 6 hours on the net daily. So to make it in internet business you have to decide first that you want to be a blogger and make sure you love the topic you choose to blog about. Also your website (blog) should be responsive i.e it can also work well in tablets and smart phones.

For designing of the site you should go with wordpress because it is one of the quickest way to post you contents online and it is easy to use and understand. For hosting and domain name registration, i recommend a foreign host but for those who cannot access them can go for a local one (we have some great hosting companies in Nigeria).

They are 232.5 million of MTN subscribers across 22 countries in Africa and the Middle East, 61.3 million of them are in Nigeria. The company in its first quarter report for 2016, which captured the subscriber growth of the telecoms company, said MTN South Africa now has 30 million subscribers. The Group said that the first quarter of 2014 saw a 1.4 percent drop overall from around 232 million subscribers in the final quarter of last year adding that it has grown its overall subscriber base by 0.8 percent.

The report showed that South Africa was one of the countries that declined in subscriber numbers, falling 1.7 percent quarterly noting that in the rest of the South East Africa region, which includes Uganda, Zambia, Rwanda, Botswana and Swaziland recorded two percent growth in subscribers base in the first quarter reaching 22.7 million.

The growth, the report was mainly driven by strong growth in Uganda where subscribers grew 7.8 percent quarterly to 9.6 million saying that a joint-venture in Botswana also saw an almost four percent increase in quarterly subscriber base. The Group however reported that there was almost seven percent quarterly to 57 million for Nigeria adding that there was also a 6.7 percent drop yearly from the 61 million subscribers the telecoms company had in Nigeria in the first quarter of 2015.

According to MTN, the remainder of the West East and Central Africa, region, which include Ghana, Cameroon, Ivory Coast, Benin, Congo-Brazzaville, Liberia, Guinea- Conakry and Guinea-Bissau however grew its subscriber base by 1.3 percent to 45.9 million. Ghana led the WECA region growing its subscriber base by 4.6 percent to 17 million followed by Cameroon which now has 9.5 million subscribers, with a 3.1 percent quarterly growth. For the Middle East and North Africa region, which includes Iran, Syria, Sudan, Yemen, Afghanistan, Cyprus and South Sudan, the subscriber growth rate was 0.7 percent to 73.6 million, with the majority of users based in Iran.

MTN Irancell increased its subscriber base by one percent quarterly to 46.6 million, in what MTN calls “a highly penetrated market” saying that MTN Sudan was also a bright spot with its subscriber base growing by four percent to 8.8 million.
