The Crips are a primarily African-American gang. They were founded in Los Angeles, Californiain 1969 mainly by Raymond Washington and Stanley Williams. What was once a single alliance between two autonomous gangs is now a loosely connected network of individualsets, often engaged in open warfare with one another. Its members traditionally wear blue clothing, a practice that has waned somewhat due to police crackdowns on gang members.
The Crips are one of the largest and most violent associations of street gangs in the United States, with an estimated 30,000 to 35,000 members. They have been involved in murders, robberies and drug dealing, among other crimes.
Crips have a long and bitter rivalry with the Bloods. Crips have served in the United States armed forcesand on bases in the United States and abroad.

The Blood are a primarily, though not exclusively, African Americanstreet gangfounded in Los Angeles, California. The gang is widely known for its rivalry with the Crips. They are identified by the red color worn by their members and by particular gang symbols, including distinctive hand signs.

18th Street gang, also known as Calle 18, Barrio 18, La18 or Mara-18 in Central America,is a multi-ethnic transnational criminal organization that started as a street gang in the Rampart area of Los Angeles, California. They are considered to be the largest transnational criminal gang in Los Angeles and it is estimated that there are tens of thousands of members in Los Angeles Countyalone. Their wide-ranging illegal activities and notoriety has come to the attention of the FBIand Immigration and Customs Enforcement. In the early 2000s, the government initiated raids against known and suspected gang members netting hundreds of arrests across the country.
