- These are tough times for ex-governor of Borno state, Ali Modu Sheriff
- Sheriff has been labeled a mole in the APC by his former spokesperson, Inuwa Bwala
- Sheriff, a former national chairman of the PDP, face the same accusation while in the opposition party

A former aide to ex-governor of Borno state, Ali Modu Sheriff, has accused him of being a mole planted by the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in order to scuttle the ruling All Progressive Congress’s (APC) chances at the polls in 2019.
The allegation was made by Inuwa Bwala, a former commissioner of information in Borno state and spokesperson for Sheriff when he (Sheriff) served as national chairman of the PDP.
Bwala told Premium Times that his former boss allegedly “donated” a campaign venue for the use of Senate President Bukola Saraki in Maiduguri, Borno state on Saturday, September 22.

Saraki's campaign train visited Borno over the weekend to address PDP delegates in the state as he seeks the presidential ticket of the main opposition party.

“It is public knowledge that foreshams hall belongs to Sheriff’s wife. The hall was built while Sheriff was governor of Borno state under the ANPP.
“The hall was not accessible for PDP events throughout Sheriff’s reign as governor. However, sources close to the management said the hall was given to Saraki and (ex-vice president) Atiku for free as Sheriff waived the fee,” Bwala said.

Sheriff could not be reached for comments on the allegations.
He recently defected to the APC and has been named as one of the campaigners for President Muhammadu Buhari’s reelection.

“President Buhari needs to be careful with Sheriff. It is very possible that he is in APC to actually work for the PDP.
“We all know that President Buhari and Sheriff have nothing in common. There is no way Sheriff will sincerely work for Buhari.
“Those of us who worked closely with Sheriff know this. The president can assign the security (DSS) to find out who owns Foreshams and to establish whether both Saraki and Atiku didn’t hold their campaigns for free at that venue.
“Why is he even giving them venue. Whoever knows Sheriff can bear testimony that unless there is something fishy, it is impossible for politicians in another party and not his, to use Foreshams hall that is owned by his wife,” Bwala said.


Meanwhile, the Taraba Progressive Movement, a group within the APC, has called on the screening committee of the party in the northeast not to clear any aspirants having corruption case with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.
They also asked the party to be wary of some politicians within its fold linked to the infamous 2015 armed deal under the previous administration.
In a statement signed by its coordinator, Muhammad Umar, and sent to journalists, the group warned the APC not to give out its ticket to personalities with dented records, particularly people who had stolen the collective wealth of Nigerians.

Abba-Aji Dumps Governorship Ambition, Returns to PDP for Senate Seat

A former presidential liaison officer in the National Assembly, Senator Mohammed Abba-Aji at the weekend officially dumped his governorship ambition on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and picked the form of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to contest the Borno Central senatorial seat.

Abba-Aji, who was a Special Assistant to both former Presidents Umar Musa Yar’Adua and Goodluck Jonathan, said he left APC as a result of the fallout of the “imposition” of indirect primaries on the party in the state.

Speaking to journalists, Abba-Aji said his decision was informed by the internal problem bedeviling the APC in the state.

He decried that the APC governors have become extremely too powerful to the extent of pocketing state party chairmen to do their biddings.

He condemned the adoption of indirect primaries by Borno State chapter of the ruling party, adding that this was contrary to the resolution of the National Executive Council (NEC) of the party.


He said the adoption of indirect primaries was hurriedly done at a stakeholders’ meeting, which according to him was hurriedly convened without the presence of card- carrying members of the party and governorship aspirants.


The distortion in the party he added has inadvertently empowered the governors.

“What the governors are doing showed fear and distrust to people who have sticked out their necks to become members of APC . Stakeholders held meeting without the presence of any governorship aspirant, which is an injustice.

“My coming out to represent my people again at the National Assembly is to consolidate on what I had achieved while I was there , and by the grace of God, I am the candidate to beat. Whoever APC presents for the Borno Central senatorial race will suffer defeat from me. I will defeat their candidate because of my long term experience in the legislative business,” Abba-Aji said.

Abba-Aji said he was ready to contest with the incumbent Borno State Governor, Alhaji Kashim Shettima, for the Borno Central senatorial ticket at the upcoming 2019 elections.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Sunday, September 23, declared the Osun gubernatorial election as inconclusive.
The returning officer

The returning officer for INEC, Adeola Fuwap, said that the election was declared inconclusive because while the difference between the two leading parties is 353, the number of cancelled votes is higher than the margin between the top candidates.
According to Fuwap, a candidate will not be returned if the leading margin is less than the canceled vote.

He said the Osun gubernatorial election had a total of 3,498 eligible voters where elections were canceled.
He also said there is currently no winner in the state as a supplementary election will be held at a later announced date to determine a winner.
Meanwhile, They previously reported that the All progressives Congress garnered 254, 345 while the Peoples Democratic Party got a total of 254, 698; SDP, 138,048; ADC, 7681 and ADP, 4972.
According to the returning officer, some irregularities were recorded in the election.

He said: We had issues in some polling units. Unit 001 had a problem of ballot box snatching and 393 votes were cancelled.
At unit 004, there was snatching of ballot and 387 votes were cancelled.

A video of a pastor placing curses on his church members and intimidating them into donating huge sums and possessions
to the church has emerged, shocking Nigerians on social media.

In the video, the pastor is seen speaking to a poor woman whose child has a health issue. He told the woman he wants
her to present the documents to a piece of land, and not just in any area like Sango but he wants about 100 acres of land to
build an estate in Magodo.
The desperate woman is seen promising to present the land document if he helps
her but he hesitated. He said he only worked that way in the past and doesn't work in that manner anymore.

The woman then promised to bring the land documents on Sunday.

Marko Arnautovic only joined West Ham from Stoke last summer.
Manchester United are interested in signing West Ham forward Marko Arnautovic, according to Sky sources.

Sky Sports News understands the
Hammers have no intention of the selling the 29-year-old and value him at £50m.
Arnautovic joined West Ham from Stoke for a club-record £24m fee last summer and netted 11 goals during his debut season with the club.

Arnautovic scored 11 goals for West Ham during the 2017/18 campaign The Austria international, who also
contributed six assists during the 2017/18 campaign, has four years left to run on his contract at the London Stadium.


Arnautovic previously worked with United manager Jose Mourinho during their time
together at Inter Milan in 2009.
He made only three appearances for Inter during an unsuccessful loan spell at the San Siro from FC Twente and subsequently
joined Werder Bremen in the summer of 2010.
Meanwhile, United remain in talks to sign Porto full-back Diogo Dalot and Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder Fred as they look strengthen their squad ahead of next season.


Sky sources understand West Ham are in talks to sign Genoa defender Armando
Izzo and are also interested in Barcelona defender Marlon Santos with new manager Manuel Pellegrini aiming to sign
up to five players this summer.
