April Fools’ Day is no joke — it’s an international celebration of silliness. Every year on April 1, people around the world pull pranks on each other as spring gets under way. But why?
The origins of April Fools’ Day are nebulous, although one legend traces it to France. In the late 1500s, the French began using the Gregorian calendar, but not everybody was aware the new year date had moved. Some people kept celebrating around the vernal equinox, though, and their peers began to tease them. Thus, April Fools’ Day was born,according to the History Channel.

Traditions soon started. In France, where April Fools’ Day is called Poisson d’Avril, children first cut out fish figures on paper and stick them on the backs of other people, then run away, according to French Moments. In Portugal, revelers traditionally throw flour on each other, and in Scotland, they dispatch friends on pointless errands, as Time reported.

April Fool’s Day began in the late 16th century when the Gregorian calendar moved New Year’s Day from April 1 to January 1. Those who kept the old tradition were called fools, which began a new tradition of pulling pranks. A recent prank I’m aware of was the releasing of three pigs into a school building (but not before numbering them 1, 2, and 4). What a surprise for those looking for pig number 3!

April Fool’s Day often falls around Easter. This is fitting, because the Easter story contains the best and most shocking surprise of all time. Imagine the happy laughter when Mary Magdalene told her story to John:

So I’m outside the tomb, having a conversation with two men. They must have been angels, though my tears made it hard to see. I tell them I’m looking for the body of Jesus, and since He’s not there, I turn to leave. That’s when I see who I think is the gardener. He asks me why I’m crying and who I’m looking for. The Easter story includes this happy event—one that is truly no joke. There was an empty tomb. God, by His amazing power, made the resurrection of Jesus something not only possible, but a reality. As Peter wrote, “All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. It is by his great mercy that we have been born again, because God raised Jesus Christ from the dead. Now we live with great expectation” (1 Peter 1:3).

As we believe by faith the miracle that changed everything—Jesus’ resurrection—we too can laugh with joy!

GOD, MAKE ME A TV (YES, TELEVISION)
A Child's Wish (A small story)

A Primary School teacher asked her pupils to write an essay "what wish do you want from God?" At the end of the day, the teacher collected all the essays given by her pupils. She took them to her house, sat and started marking them.
While marking the essays, the teacher saw a strange essay written by one of her pupils. That essay made her very emotional. Her husband sat beside her and saw her crying. The husband asked his wife "What happened?"
She answered "Read this. It is one of my pupil's essay."
"Oh God, Make me into a Television. I want to live like the TV in my house.
“In my house, the TV is very valuable. All of my family members sit around it. They are very interested in it.
When the TV is talking, my parents listen to it happily and calmly. They don’t shout at the TV. They don’t quarrel with the TV. They don’t slap at the TV. So I want to become a TV.
“The TV is the center of attraction in my house. I want to receive the same special care that the TV receives from my parents. Even when it is not working, the TV has a lot of value.
“When my dad and mom come home, immediately they sit in front of the TV, switch on it and spend hours.
The TV is stealing the time of my dad and my mom. If I become a TV, they will spend their time with me.
“While watching the TV, my parents laugh a lot and they smile many times. But I want my parents to laugh and smile with me. So please make me into a TV. .
And last but not least, If I become a TV, surely I can make my parents happy and entertain them. Lord I don't ask you anything. I just want to live like a TV. Please make me into a TV."
The husband completed reading the essay.
He said "My God, poor kid. He feels loneliness. He did not receive enough love and care from his parents. His parents are horrible".
The eyes of the primary school teacher filled with tears. She looked at her husband and said "Our son wrote this essay".
Dear Meaningful Friend, I do hope this message hits you just as much as it would have hit the teacher and her husband. It did hit me. And I wonder how many more children would really wish they were TVs.
Can we pause a while and give some attention to our children, spouse, parents and the bits of other relationships in our lives, just as much as we give to our TVs, Phones, Tablets, PCs?

On a daily basis, the police men from Okumagba Estate, WARRI Police station embarrass people around the Estate round about from 7pm.

They arrest people returning from work or shopping and call them thieves, take them to station and keep them in the cell until money is paid by their family for their release.

If you style your hair as a guy, you are a criminal too.

This is becoming a menace because Policemen are suppose to be honest people
