President Muhammadu Buhari has sacked presidential liaison Officer, Nura Rimi, five months after his was appointed into the post.
No reason was given for the president’s decision which has also not been officially announced.
Alhaji Rimi, who served as President Goodluck Jonathan’s Chief Protocol Officer, was posted to Nigeria Embassy in Abu Dhabi shortly before the presidential Election but was recalled by President Buhari who appointed him as his PLO before his inauguration.
His removal was effected last week, though no reason was given for his sudden disengagement from the Presidential Villa.

PoliticsRe: Tinubu Will Almost Let Some Folks Develop Hypertension. by propaco(op): 12:54pm On Jul 04, 2015
I met a friend during election this year, who said he can give all his salaries to Tinubu and allow him to take charge of d money rather than giving it to PDP and his cohort bcs they will not make any meaningful use of the money.
Indeed, I tried to check it out and I discover that Tinubu has been a blessing to the South-West. Let's try and support him and PMB. Nigeria will flourish again.
PoliticsTinubu Will Almost Let Some Folks Develop Hypertension. by propaco(op): 10:51am On Jul 04, 2015
Today, I chose to address the Yoruba people of South West Nigeria. I seldom do this because my political philosophy is totally about inclusion and national cohesion. I am an unrepentant optimist when it comes to Nigeria taking her pride of place democratically in the comity of nations.

Recent events nevertheless is making me to have a rethink, especially about my people in the south west called the Yoruba people. Therefore, against my own policy never to single out a particular ethnic group in my political write ups, I dare say I brake that bound today.

The media went burst today just because of one man and why he did not attend the NEC meeting of his party, the APC. Before I go on, let me quote a brother, Ajayi Temitope Carter who wrote about the issue thus:

"TINUBU AND AKANDE ARE NOT APC NEC MEMBERS: I dont think it is proper for any media organization and blogs to write Tinubu and Akande were absent from APC NEC meeting. The two men are not members of APC NEC. So why should they be present for a meeting they are not part of statutorily. If they had gone there the argument will then be Tinubu is personalizing APC by attending NEC meeting when he is not a member. Why is no one not writing that Ogbonnaya Onu and Tony Momoh were absent too. Media is part of the problem and crisis within the system with the failure to push write information and education of the public. I will continue to say Editors and other managers of news must be more serious and responsible."

Sometimes, our cosmopolitan posture as Yoruba people appears to be a curse. I remember at the height of GEJ's tenure, I told a colleague of mine from the South-South why he should be supporting a government that is on the verge of killing this nation and his response was; "Yes, I know GEJ is inept but he's our son and we will support him again and again even if he fails 10 times." Same thing Hausa/Fulani people. No matter what you say, they always stay solidly behind their own.

Lets come home to the South West. From Papa Awo down to Jagaban now...the creme de-la creme of Yoruba politics, Akinjide, Akinloye et al all were against Awo. You remember the popular twelve two third advocacy of Akinjide that was used to defeat Awo at the court. Who propounded the theory? Of course, a Yoruba man. Let's come to Abiola and even let's come to OBJ. We were his greatest critiques and antagonist.

Now, its Jagaban again. We always destroy our own while others hail their own even when they are glaringly inept and bereft of ideas on nation building. What is the crime of Jagaban? Is it a crime to want to make sure the South West come under one political block just like it has always been from 1st republic? Okay, again, is it a crime to want to use that block to gain power at the center so that South West would not be perpetually in opposition just like we've always been from the 1st republic?

It is glaring that no single ethnic group can produce government at the center in Nigeria. There must always be alliances...what crime has he committed by aligning with Buhari and the North to gain power at the center and bring Yoruba into the mainstream of national government?

Now, if truly Jagaban is been played out in APC, is it not the time we should all rise in one voice to support him? Far from it, all what my people are saying is- yes, we told him so. Did we not warn him against Hausa people? You can never satisfy our people. They always "kill" the best among themselves and drive him to the wolves.

My question again is, what is Jagaban's crime?

Time will tell.

PoliticsBuhari Response To Fuel Subsidy. by propaco(op): 10:58pm On May 26, 2015
Question

One burning issue is fuel subsidy. I believe you are aware of the queues in major cities like Lagos and Abuja. The fuel importers say they are unsure of the direction of the new government in this area. Have you considered maintaining or withdrawing this subsidy or are you questioning whether it didn’t exist at all?

Answer-

Buhari: One of the problems I have, other than the military, is the petroleum industry where I served for three and a half years under General Obasanjo. When people start talking about this subsidy I honestly get confused. I will tell you this, and I hope it will answer what you want to know. Back then we had a refinery in Port Harcourt, which was refining 30,000 barrels a day of Nigerian crude.
Later, it was upgraded to refine 100,000 barrels a day. Another refinery was built in Port Harcourt to refine 150,000 barrels per day of Nigerian crude. So, Port Harcourt alone had the capacity to refine 250,000 barrels per day of Nigerian crude.
But when I found myself as the Minister of Petroleum I set up another refinery in Warri for 100, 000 barrels per day of Nigerian crude and the Kaduna refinery a 100, 000 barrels per day. So Nigeria built capacity to refine 450,000 a day.
Four Hundred thousands of which is purely Nigerian crude, but 50,000 was imported. The type of crude could be Venezuelan, which could be a bit heavier. But the lighter ones - kerosene, aviation fuel, diesel, PMS of different grades could be produced from our crude because Nigerian crude is about the best in the world.
If you could recall, after finishing as Minister of Petroleum, I subsequently became Head of State. You remember, I appointed Professor Tam David West as the Minister of Petroleum. When we rounded up bunkers, collected their illegal jetties and allowed jetties for only big firms which were doing production and development in the country, we were shocked that we had too much fuel.
We had to begin to export 100,000 barrels per day. Don’t forget that we didn’t stop at building refineries, we built more than 20 depots during my time, from Port Harcourt to Ilorin, Makurdi, Suleija, Maiduguri and Kano. More than 3,000 pipelines were laid to connect them. A number of stations were also built to take the trailers off the road, save lives and the infrastructure on the road. It is more economical because each trailer uses fuel.
We did all that in this country and we didn’t borrow any money as far as I know. It’s Nigerian money. From each Nigerian crude, whether Akwa Ibom, Bonny Light or whatever it is, you can work out how much products it will give you; how much petrol it will give you; how much diesel it will give you if you want to produce diesel. We could tell how much Nigerian crude cost, the cost of transportation from there to the refinery, the cost of refining, the cost of transportation to the pump stations and maybe 5 per cent go for overhead.
I can understand if Nigerians pay for those costs. But somebody is saying he is subsidizing Nigerians. Who is subsidizing who?
