The middle class is not defined by salary alone. It is defined by structure, security, and predictability. Nigeria’s economic transition is creating a new type of middle class, one shaped by financial discipline rather than income. 1. The Shift From Lifestyle Consumption to Asset Security Historically, Nigerians moved into the middle class when they could afford discretionary spending. But with rising living costs, the new middle class is prioritizing: Education Housing Savings Insurance Structured investments This creates a more sustainable middle-income group. 2. The Rise of Structured Financial Behaviour The middle class of the future will: Track expenses Understand interest exposure Plan decades ahead Avoid unstructured debt This behavioural shift is how nations build stable societies. 3. Mortgages Become Mainstream As financing becomes more accessible, homeownership will become the clearest marker separating the middle class from the working class. Middle-class identity globally is tied to stability, and Nigeria is heading in that direction. 4. Digital Footprints Will Define Access From BVN, to NIN, to credit scoring, Nigeria is building a digital foundation where: Your financial behaviour becomes visible Your eligibility becomes data-driven Your opportunities expand or shrink based on discipline This promotes fairness and reduces gatekeeping. 5. The New Middle Class Thinks Long-Term Short-term survival thinking is slowly giving way to long-term financial planning. This group sees wealth not as possessions, but as systems: A pension A home A stable income A diversified portfolio The New Meaning of Middle Class Not the people who earn the most, but the people who understand their finances the best. https://www./new-nigerian-middle-class-dr-femi-johnson-utawe |
The 5 Forces That Quietly Reshaped Nigeria’s Financial Landscape in 2025 Most Nigerians experience the economy emotionally. We feel it when prices rise. We feel it when prices rise. We notice it when interest rates change. We react when policies shift. We react when policies shift. But very few people pause to ask a more important question: Why is the system behaving this way in the first place? With every financial shift in Nigeria, there are inflation spikes, currency adjustments, lending constraints, even renewed mortgage conversations are not random. They are the visible outcomes of quiet forces working beneath the surface. To navigate 2026 intelligently, we must understand those forces. Force 1: A Nation Pushing Against Old Financial Structures Our reality now is that we are beginning to see strains on systems that were designed for a different era. A youthful population naturally wants: Homes earlier in life Access to credit sooner Faster, more flexible financial services This growing pressure is forcing banks and lenders to rethink how they design products, assess risk, and define affordability. This demography does not ask for permission. They reshape, demand until systems adapt. Force 2: Global Capital Is Quietly Looking Again For years, capital flowed comfortably into predictable markets. Now, returns are tightening. Investors are widening their lenses. Nigeria, despite its complexity, still offers something rare: Scale Growth potential A massive, underserved real estate market Nigeria offers relatively high returns This doesn’t mean capital will rush in recklessly, but it does mean long-term instruments like housing finance are back in serious conversations. Capital always follows possibility, even when caution remains. Force 3: Policy Is Doing the Slow Work of Rebuilding Trust Mortgage systems do not grow in chaos. They grow in environments where rules are clearer and expectations are more predictable. Recent monetary and FX reforms may feel uncomfortable in the short term, but they are quietly doing something essential: rebuilding institutional confidence. These changes are not dramatic headlines. They are foundations. And foundations matter. Force 4: Technology Is Finally Making Risk Visible For decades, Nigeria’s financial system struggled with one problem: too much uncertainty. Who is this borrower? Can they be trusted? What happens after approval? Fintech has begun answering these questions. With digital identity, improved credit scoring, and transaction transparency, lenders can now see risk more clearly instead of guessing it. When risk becomes visible, access expands. Force 5: Housing Is No Longer Just About Shelter Housing used to be a social discussion. Now it is an economic one. Every home built, triggers activity across dozens of sectors, construction, manufacturing, legal services, logistics, furniture, utilities. Home ownerships help store wealth and value, is a good hedge against inflation, and continues to appreciate in value over time. Housing is no longer just where people live. It is how economies move. Why This Story Matters The economy does not change overnight. It shifts quietly until suddenly, everything feels different. Those who understand the forces shaping the system: Prepare earlier Make better long-term decisions Build stability while others are still reacting The goal is not prediction. The goal is positioning.

The cybersecurity space has recently seen rapid growth due to the massive increase in digitalisation, expanding the attack surface. Many organisations have struggled to keep up with the demand for skilled cybersecurity talent. In fact, a recent ESG report 1 showed around 70% felt their organisation had been negatively impacted by the global skills shortage which has left over 3.5 million positions unfilled. While Africa has seen great improvement in technology investment, especially in Nigeria, Egypt, Kenya, and South Africa, the continent, like most others, faces a significant cybersecurity skills shortage. Although the region is typically overlooked when it comes to technology, Sub-Saharan Africa is home to the largest youth population3 and some of the fastest-growing economies. Building digital skills in the region is essential to Africa remaining competitive in the future. However, doing so is impossible without investment from the businesses and government organisations that so desperately need the skilled workforce to remain viable. One company that is committed to closing the cybersecurity skills gap is Trend Micro, a leading provider of cybersecurity solutions. Trend Micro’s Certification Program in IT Security (CPITS) is a free 10-week program focusing on the soft and hard skills required to succeed in the cybersecurity field. The program is open to recent ICT-related and engineering graduates from South Africa, Nigeria, Kenya, and Mauritius and offers participants the opportunity to earn industry-recognised certificates and potential job opportunities at Trend Micro to kick-start their cybersecurity career. “The CPITS program was that one opportunity that turned things around and kickstarted my career in cybersecurity.” Says Fortress Abioye, associate systems engineer and 2021 CPITS graduate. “I got trained in the various aspects of cybersecurity and even in soft skills by well-seasoned instructors who gave great attention to the students. I had lots of fun at the same time, getting to meet amazing people, and sharing ideas, perspectives, and culture!” Considering the years-long 0% unemployment rate in the cybersecurity field, this is an opportunity for those interested in technology to join the programs’ 400+ graduates in finding meaningful employment in an exciting and relevant industry. This program reflects Trend Micro’s commitment to closing the cybersecurity skills gap, increasing diversity in the field, and providing the youth of South Africa with skills fit for digital-age positions. |
Microsoft has announced that it is set to train five million Nigerians through new government partnership. Over the past year, the pace of digitisation in Nigeria has increased significantly, leaving an enormous opportunity to foster the technology ecosystem across the country, create jobs and develop a strong digital economy. But much more needs to be done before all citizens can take advantage of this opportunity. Microsoft is working with the Government of Nigeria, launching several big projects to accelerate digital transformation in the country. The focus of these projects will span three key areas: Connectivity: Six regions in the country have been earmarked for the development of high-speed internet infrastructure. Microsoft will work closely with local partners to improve broadband connectivity in these communities while also assisting with the design and implementation of hyper-scale cloud services. Skilling: Microsoft is committing to upskilling five million people in Nigeria over the next three years. To help reach this goal, 1,700 trainers will provide blended online and in-person training courses to the country’s youth as well as government workers. Through these and other initiatives, we hope to create over 27,000 new digital jobs in the next three years. Digital transformation: This will take the shape of two separate initiatives: By collaborating with local partners, Microsoft will support the design and implementation of cloud-based tools to further enable the government’s fight against corruption. Through a newly formed partnership with the National Institute of Cultural Orientation, Microsoft will harness the power of AI in support of the organisation’s efforts to preserve and revive Nigeria’s three major indigenous languages: Hausa, Yoruba, and Igbo. |

An aide of Lagos State Governor, Mr Akinwunmi Ambode on Sunday totally debunked a report claiming that the Governor was planning to clamp down on political associates of National Leader of All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu as a reprisal over the outcome of the party’s governorship primaries in the State. A report in an online newspaper claimed that the Governor was planning to use the police to indiscriminately arrest and incarcerate close associates of Tinubu who spearheaded his defeat at the primaries. Responding, a source in Governor’s office described the said report as “nothing but a vicious lie sponsored by political desperados all in a bid to justify their unpopular moves against the present administration.” He said: “It is very sad and unfortunate that the political hawks are up in arms again with their dumb propaganda to change the narrative when it is crystal clear that the moves against the Governor are very unpopular. “These agents of perdition also ridiculously claimed in the said report that cult skirmishes are being sponsored to create atmospheres of unrest in order to arrest Tinubu’s associates. This is nothing but absolute gibberish and should be disregarded in its entirety.” On another claim that the Governor was financing another political party to give Atiku Abubakar an edge over President Muhammadu Buhari in next year’s presidential election, the aide further said the allegation was merely a figment of the imagination of the authors and another calculated bid to put the Governor on the defensive, adding: “Again, this is another lie from the pit of hell.” make it gathered from another source that rather than going on the offensive, Ambode had been toeing the path of reconciliation with his estranged political father. The source said one of the reconciliatory moves made by the Governor was a discussion with a serving member of his cabinet and a senior media personality who is very close to Tinubu, urging him to intervene on his behalf with Tinubu. The senior member of the Ambode cabinet is expected to work with another senior media personality who coordinated Tinubu’s awesome media machinery during his eight years tenure as governor. |
Last Sunday as I watched a report on the commissioning of the Sir Olu Okeowo Physiotherapy Centre, donated by the philanthropist after whom the building was named, my heart and every fibre of my being prayed for this great soul. Recently, I had cause to visit the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH), the beneficiary of this soul-lifting gift. I wept inside inconsolably when I saw the extent to which an institution that is supposed to be a flagship of Nigeria’s medical facilities, has been mindlessly desecrated. It was a complete disaster. From the derelict gate to the shabby road network, fading paints on the buildings, obsolete facilities, the ill-equipped wards, the dysfunctional elevators and the air of jaded pessimism, the mildest expression one could use to describe the systemic rot in LUTH is DECREPIT. The only glimmer of hope in LUTH, illuminated by the regular water and electricity supply, is the quality of medical personnel. The LUTH consultants are probably among the best in the world. How did we descend this abysmally low? I kept soliloquizing. My mind quickly raced to government and I wondered why no substantial effort has been made to revamp LUTH if indeed health is central to the welfare of the people, enshrined in our constitution as one of the 2 most important responsibilities of government. My thought flicked to the Minister for Health, Professor Isaac Folorunso Adewole and I wondered why the same man who excelled as the Vice Chancellor of the University of Ibadan is floundering because in all good conscience, no one can claim that a minister under whose watch such an institution further degenerated is a phenomenal success. My probing thought perched on President Muhammadu Buhari and I wondered if he knew how shockingly low LUTH had sunk. An insider in LUTH told me the teaching hospital generates sufficient funds to run efficiently but the bulk is remitted to the federal purse. As noble as the Treasury Single Account is, the Federal Government may have to work out a solution that will enable federal medical centers to work seamlessly. This is so crucial because life is involved. How can LUTH exist on borrowed ventilators, the appliance for artificial respiration, required sometimes after surgery. Finally, I wondered why many of our fabulously rich men and successful businesses find it so difficult to invest in this type of philanthropy. Since it’s impossible for anyone to travel on the journey to the great beyond with earthly possessions, isn’t it more fulfilling to therefore leave glowing memories of their great deeds behind? LUTH is such a colossal disaster that out of about five elevators servicing the three-story building that connects the private ward and the operating theatres, only one works with laborious human efforts. Even then, the operator manually installs and removes one of the door panels before people can enter or exit the “functional” elevator. There are for instance thousands of Nigerians who can conveniently donate elevators to LUTH or other medical institutions in the country in need of such. This is why the Olu Okeowo intervention in LUTH is so exceptional. Someone close to his family had brought to his attention how some students in LUTH were studying under the tree. That piece of information devastated him and he made up his mind to donate a facility which today is probably the most modern and definitely the freshest breath of air in LUTH. The ‘brand new’ building now accommodates the Department of Physiotherapy at the College of Medicine, University of Lagos. Another private/corporate facility close to this is the Guinness Eye Centre which was donated to LUTH in 1992. Guinness followed this up with the donation of a pair of slit lamps to the management of LUTH early last year. I urge the management of Guinness to do whatever it can to support LUTH in restoring the glory of that facility. Even the blind can see that a fresh coat of paint will do wonders not only to the Guinness building but the forlorn and pathetic ambience pervading LUTH. Like they say, I do not know Sir Olu Okeowo from Adam (with the power of TV though, one could probably recognise him outside), but what he did was enough to move me to pray for him and I beseech any Nigerian who can spare a moment to also pray for him and his family for he is a good man with the heart of gold. The officiating priest at the dedication of the building said the philanthropist has similarly planted his kindness elsewhere including the University of Lagos. It was even said that Sir Okeowo’s donation is the single largest contribution by an individual to the University of Lagos. What a jolly good fellow!!! https://www.makeitglobal.biz/olu-okeowos-career/

Following an alarm raised by the Director General of the Ambode Mandate Support Group (AMSG), Hon Hakeem Sulaimon, that an elaborate plan had been hatched by some All Progressives Congress (APC) leaders in Lagos state to rig the governorship direct primary election scheduled to hold on Monday, the APC leadership at the national headquarters may have decided to take proactive steps to ensure a level playing field for the two aspirants left in the race. Babajide Sanwo-Olu is challenging the incumbent Governor Akinwunmi Ambode for the party’s gubernatorial ticket. The Governor’s Advisory Council (GAC), the highest decision making body in Lagos APC at a meeting chaired by Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Saturday, endorsed Sanwo-Olu as its preferred candidate to fly the party’s flag during the general election in 2019. At a rally on Sunday in Lagos, Sulaimon had alerted APC National Chairman, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole “to the desperate moves to fraudulently deny Governor Ambode the ticket.” He claimed that the rigging machinery was being perfected, and that the “source of the company which printed the party’s permanent membership cards for the election was questionable.” Investigations conducted by make it showed that the cards might have been printed by Information Technology Data Network Limited while Bisoye Bibi-Coker was said to be the contractor. When make it called Bisoye, she said she was busy and asked our correspondent to call her later. She neither confirmed nor deny her involvement in the project. A national leader of APC is said to have substantial interest in the company. A source at the national headquarters of the party said the national leadership of APC was not taking the allegation lightly, particularly since a crucial process which ought to have been taken to validate the integrity of the cards was skipped in the case of Lagos State. Said the source: “Ideally, when the permanent cards are printed by the contractors, they needed to deliver them at the national headquarters so that the secretariat can validate the cards based on the membership of the party and integrate the cards with our data system. This process was not followed and the cards were delivered directly to Lagos APC.” An unconfirmed report said the permanent members’ cards were already being distributed ahead of Monday’s governorship primary election in Lagos. It was learnt that the National Chairman of the party was involved in the attempt to find a solution. It was further gathered that an attempt would be made to retrieve the cards for proper documentation but if this failed, the party may decide to use the membership slips. This, it was gathered, was what was used for the presidential primary. At a world press conference he addressed in Lagos on Sunday, Governor Ambode called on the leadership of APC to ensure a level playing field and urged that all members of the party in the state should be eligible to vote. He also asked all thugs to stay away from voting centres. The strong man of Lagos politics, Asiwaju Tinubu in a statement he issued on Sunday on the election, said he would abide by the will of the people. A source hinted that if all issues on the permanent members’ cards were not resolved satisfactorily, party’s leaders may decide to postpone the direct primary election. https://www.makeitglobal.biz/lagos-guber-primary-apc-national-secretariat-steps-ambodes-group-raises-alarm-rigging/ |

The anchor of "The Osasu Show" and CEO of TOS TV NETWORK, Ms Osasu Igbinedion has called for an enabling environment for journalists practising in Nigeria. She saluted the tenacity of Nigerian journalists in light of the global acceptance of World Press Freedom Day. May 3 is a day declared by the United Nations General Assembly to raise awareness about the importance of freedom of the press and remind governments of their duty to respect and uphold the right to freedom of expression enshrined under Article 19 of the 1948 Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Osasu in a press statement said though journalists in Nigeria are doing their best in spite of the crippling conditions under which they operate, their contributions hardly receive the deserved and commensurate appreciation of both the government and the people. "The average Nigerian journalist is brilliant, courageous and adventurous. But they are not well appreciated in the Nigerian society. The Freedom of Information Act is a great opportunity for journalists to access information but government officials still hoard information. Hence, journalists have to go the extra mile to get it. Like the proverbial camel attempting to pass through the eye of the needle, we struggle to get information and often have to court anonymous sources to get what we want," she said. Osasu decried a situation where journalists are sometimes attacked by security and law enforcement agents. "It is sad that we as journalists have been at the receiving end of the brutality of law enforcement agencies. Some of my colleagues have ended up in the hospital with broken ribs all in the cause of performing their professional duties. "Honestly, the constituted authorities have to impress on security agencies why it is imperative for officers to respect the constitutionally guaranteed right of the press to do our job unhindered. Afterall, we are the gatekeepers of democracy" said Osasu. The Osasu Show anchor also decried a situation where many media owners have not paid journalists employed by them. She stated, "I have over 30 employees at TOS TV NETWORK. I make it my utmost priority to pay salaries before month end. Unfortunately many Nigerian journalists suffer from the mounting pressure of unpaid salaries, lack of health insurance package and other forms of maltreatment from their employers. They seem to forget that the journalist is a husband, wife, father, mother or a relative to someone. How do these media employers expect such journalists to meet up with their obligations to themselves and loved ones if they are not paid what they deserve at the end of the month?" The Osasu Show critically assesses political and development issues by interrogating leaders at the helm of affairs and bridging the communication gap between politicians and their constituents.

The Chairman, Association of Waste Managers of Nigeria, popularly called Private Sector Participant Operators, Mr. Oladipo Egbeyemi is a very passionate man. Passion is good when it is about noble and profitable things. But Egbeyemi’s passion is not about the Cleaner Lagos Initiative. This fact is crystal clear in the interview he recently granted a national newspaper. In that interview the AWAM chairman said, “Our members are busy doing what they know how to do best, which includes collection of refuse and dumping of the refuse at designated places.” But when asked to respond to the claim that about 80% of PSPs had agreed to work with Visionscape, he said, “Then why are you still finding so much refuse on the streets?” But the truth is, majority of the PSPs are ready to work with Visionscape and a lot of them are already doing that. It is only Egbeyemi and his faceless instigators that are bent on undermining the Lagos people, the State Government and Visionscape. Citizen Egbeyemi showed he was miffed that Visionscape offered to pay the PSP operators N30,000 per trip to Epe landfill to elicit sympathy. But he did not mention that not every PSP operator will go to Epe to dump waste as Visionscape has made arrangement for them to drop it at Transfer Loading Stations (TLS) in strategic locations across the State - Agege, Oshodi, Tapa, while the company will convey the waste from the TLSes to the engineered landfill. In the interview, Egbeyemi lamented that government was not giving PSPs the opportunity “to viably operate, to have the opportunity to purchase new trucks in case the ones I am using now get bad, to expand and be able to thrive.” Perhaps in his hurry to whip up undeserved sentiments, he deliberately refused to mention the fact that government had made provision for PSPs to access N2.5bn loan facility at low interest rate to boost their services, especially in getting modern compactors. Currently, many PSP compactors often break down on the road. The AWAM chairman denied that Visionscape had made any investment in infrastructure. But Visionscape is constructing the first engineered landfill in West Africa, a multibillion naira investment. The firm is doing the complete modernisation of the TLSes and providing brand new waste depots. Thousands of waste bins of various sizes have been distributed across Lagos and hundreds of brand new waste utility vehicles are already deployed while more are still expected. Egbeyemi went ahead to repeat the now popular lie that Visionscape gets a certain amount from the state government. The figure being allegedly given Visionscape changes depending on who is telling the story. But this time, Egbeyemi put it at N700 million. But this is false. Visionscape operates a performance based contract. The fee payment issue is on public record. It is also mind-boggling that people like Egbeyemi have reduced the contract Visionscape has with government to only waste collection when it is actually a turnkey public-private partnership arrangement. The state government and Visionscape do not say they don’t need PSPs. The PSPs renamed Waste Collection Operators were asked to focus on commercial waste while Visionscape do residential. The PSPs screamed blue murder. Consequently, Visionscape waved the olive branch at them. The company ceded even the residential waste collection to the WCOs. It asked them to sign a one-year-contract. The new arrangement is for the WCOs to get the waste from the residences, drop it at the TLSes, and Visionscape will convey it to the Epe landfill. I personally do not see any reason Egbeyemi and his fellow travellers should reject that offer, After all, if they perform as expected, the contract can be renewed. Do the Egbeyemis of this world really want a cleaner Lagos? If they do, then they should join hands with the state government to ensure the success of the CLI. Sunday Adebayo |
http://cruisingpretty.com/5-ways-to-save-money-on-fuel/ We all know how hard it is get money. A lot of things have doubled in price and since the recent fuel price increase in Nigeria, some of us actually watch how often we go out unless of course money will come out from the trip, lol. Here are five ways to cut down on the amount you spend on buying fuel: 1.Don’t top it Off: Don’t bother topping off your fuel tank when you are refilling. All the additional fuel is going to either slop or seep out. There might come a time when you need to go to the car lot to buy a used car, and I understand that can be a really daunting task. Trying to ascertain if you are getting a good deal or if the dealer is just trying to rip you off, our guide can help you. Mechanical Condition and safety are significant do not compromise on either Stolen Vehicles: If you buy a stolen vehicle you have no rights. if you suspect a vehicle you are being offered is stolen let the police know immediately. It only takes a decent person looking for an unrealistic bargain to commit a crime. Identification Numbers: All legitimate Vehicles have two Main identification numbers; the vehicle identification number (VIN), and the engine number. Mileage: Low mileage is a good buying point but beware the odometer could have been turn back. Always view the Car in daylight, preferably when it’s not raining. Never arrange to meet in a mutual location, such as a petrol station or on a public road, the seller’s premises are best, as this will reduce the risk of buying a stolen Car. The most reassuringly secure way to make sure that the Car you desire is up to scratch is to get a Professional inspection by a reputable mechanic/engineer. If the vehicle comes with Air Conditioning, its best you test run it on a very hot day around mid-day and not when its cloudy and about to rain. The ambient temperature affects the performance of Air Conditioning systems, the cooler it is outside the easier you will be deceived the AC works efficiently. Body -Are the seams where doors and fenders meet even and straight? -Are the seams where the bonnet and boot meet the fenders even and straight? -Does a magnet cling to all steel body panels? (Be sure to test fenders, the lower corners of doors, and rocker panels–the areas below doors. If a magnet doesn’t cling, suspect body filler was used to repair rust or accident damage) -Are all body panels the same colour? -Has the car been recently repainted? (Look out for signs of spray paint moldings; also check the edges of the doors, bonnet and boot to be sure they are all the same color. Fresh paint may cover rust that will continue to progress.) Tyres -Do all tires have the same amount of tread? -Are all tyres the same size? (Check tyre size markings on tyre sidewalls) -Is there a spare tyre, jack, and lug wrench? If the vehicle has locking hubcaps, is there a key for removing them? -Is the spare tyre inflated (Press hard against the side with your thumb; the tyre should be firm.) Suspension -Does the vehicle sit level -Bounce each corner of the vehicle. Do all corners respond the same? (Corners should only bounce once or twice before stopping.) -Do you hear a creaking noise when bouncing the vehicle’s corners Interior -Is upholstery in good condition? (Look for tears, stains, and burns.) -Are the dashboard and headliner in good condition? -Do seats adjust easily? -Are any windows cranks, door locks, handles, dash controls or similar items missing? -Do all interior lights and dash bulbs work? -Does carpet condition match the age of the vehicle? -Does carpeting smell of mildew or stale water, suggesting moisture underneath (or worse, Flood damage)? -Check under the dash at the top of the carpet. Are there stains suggesting heater core or air conditioning leakage. Frame -Examine inside the boot, wheel wells, and under bonnet. Do you see areas that look like they have been crumpled and straightened? -Look underneath each side of the vehicle for a row of holes in the frame just inside the vehicle’s outer edge. Do holes appear scratched or recently cleaned? (If so, suspect the frame has been straightened after a crash) Petrol Cap -Is there a petrol cap? Does it fit correctly? (If the cap locks, is there a Key?) Accessories -Do all accessories such as the heater, air conditioner, audio system, and alarm system, moon roof, operate fully? Test all functions of each Engine Compartment -Are there signs of oil fluid leaks? -Run the engine at full operating temperature. Are there abnormal smells that might be due to leaking fluids on hot engine parts? Are there unusual noises, such as clattering or metallic sounds, or sharp hissing in the engine compartment when the engine is running? (normal sound is smooth whirring of belts and fan) -Does anything appear to be missing, does any cable or wires have loose ends? (Look for shiny or clean areas where parts may have been removed.) Under the Vehicle -Are there fluid leaks on the underside of the engine and transmission, at axle ends, at brake line connections, or on the ground beneath the vehicle? Green fluid is usually antifreeze; reddish fluid is usually power steering or transmission fluid; dark brown or black fluid is usually oil or brake fluid. -Are any parts loose, with exception of exhaust parts slung from flexible rubber “donuts”? -Does anything appear missing, such as bolts, clamps, brackets or cables? -Are exhaust system parts rusty? -Are there marks from scrapes, indicating the car has bottomed out on rocks or pavement? -Examine exhaust when the car is operating at normal temperature. Do you see white smoke? (suggest coolant or water leaking into combustion chamber-bad head gasket or cracked cylinder head) Blue smoke? (suggests oil leaking into combustion chamber-worn piston rings, valves, cylinders or bad head gasket). Black or Gray smoke? (suggests incomplete fuel combustion-carburetor, choke, fuel injection or emission system malfunction or low compression due to engine wear) Note, a small amount of steam is normal. Engine -Does the engine start easily? -Does the engine stall at any time? -Does the engine idle smoothly? -Does the idle speed seem too slow or too fast? -Does the engine hesitate or stumble on acceleration? -Does the engine run smoothly during driving? -Does the engine seem to lack power? -If the vehicle has cruise control, do all features work correctly? -Do engine or other system warning lights appear? Transmission and clutch -Is automatic shifting smooth? -On a manual-shift vehicle, is take off smooth? -On a manual-shift vehicle, accelerate hard in a high gear (third or fourth) or while going uphill. If engine rpm rises without a corresponding increase in vehicle speed, the clutch could be slipping. It may need to be adjusted or replaced. -On a manual shift vehicle, try shifting to a lower gear when going slowly. Does the transmission shift easily, without grinding? 4-wheel Drive -Engage 4-wheel drive only on soft surfaces unless the owner’s manual specifically says the feature can be used on all surfaces. On a suitable surface, test-drive the vehicle in forward and reverse with 4-wheel drive engaged. Does the vehicle shift smoothly in both directions? -Turn tight corners to the right and left. Are there clunking sounds or other noises? -Do the wheels bind or pull, whether turning or going straight? Brakes -Apply the brakes several times at different speeds. Also try sudden stop. Does the vehicle pull to one side when brakes are applied? -Do brakes stop the vehicle adequately? -If the vehicle has antilock brakes (ABS), try stopping suddenly. Do the wheels lock? (A pulsing brake pedal is normal) -Does the parking brake hold firmly and release completely? Steering -Does the vehicle pull to one side during normal operation? -Is steering difficult at any speed? -Turn sharply in both directions. Do you hear clunking or other noises, or feel rubbing or binding? -Does the vehicle shake or vibrate while moving? (Take the vehicle up to expressway speed for this test) -Is the steering wheel centered when the vehicle is traveling straight ahead? Paper Work These are vital -Proof of Ownership Certificate -Vehicle License -Certificate of Road Worthiness (MOT) (VIN and Engine number on the documents must correspond exactly to the VIN number plate and engine number plate on the car.) In the absence of the above documents, you will require all relevant importation documents to obtain the above documents. Never buy a car without these documents. These are desirable -Service records: These will give you a mileage history and show how well the has been maintained. (If you own a brand new car and plan to sell later, keeping you maintenance records can boost your resale value) -Receipt from previous owner. Insurance You are required by law to have adequate insurance cover for your car. Before buying it is sensible to get a few speculative quotes, to see how much insuring your chosen car is going to cost you. Choose the right type of policy -Comprehensive cover is the most expensive route, but covers you for damage to your own car and things inside it, even if the accident is your fault. It also covers you for theft. -Third party cover is the minimum legal requirement. It is much cheaper than comprehensive cover, so make sure you have this at least. http://cruisingpretty.com/?p=118 There is a difference between Tokunbo and Second Hand. Tokunbo cars are cars brought in from overseas while Second Hand Cars are cars used and resold in Nigeria. Many people think it’s a bad idea to buy a second hand vehicle in Nigeria but, I beg to differ because I have seen both Second Hand and Tokunbo Vehicles give their owners peace of mind and some just give them pure hell. Here are 5 things you need to consider when you want to buy a Second Hand Car in Nigeria. 1. Determine your Budget: Don’t let your emotions control you or allow someone trick you into spending more than you have budgeted for. You don’t want to go borrow money or spend more than your budget just to get home and discover you paid more for the Car than its actual worth. 2. Beware of a good Deal: When you are being offered a Car that obviously look like it’s worth more than the seller is asking for. Be careful!! It might just have problems that are not visible to naked eyes. 3.Research the Model: Every Car brand has its strong and weak points. What they lack in some parts, they make up for in others. The down side might just be what you are not prepared for. There are cars that naturally consume fuel and some others are prone to Wheel problems. Make sure you research the model you plan to buy so you are aware of what you are getting yourself into. 4.Use your Own Mechanic : Don’t take the sellers word for it, you need to be 101% sure of what you are paying for. Go with a trusted mechanic and have him check it out. Also make sure to do a test drive. 5.Inspect the Owner, not just the Car : It might sound weird but I believe a car is an extension of its owner. Make sure to check out the owner (not in a creepy way) and ask yourself questions like; Is he trustworthy?, Is the Owner too eager to sell? or maybe he isn’t willing to sell. http://cruisingpretty.com/?p=118

People who know me know my struggle with dry sensitive skin. And yes, I drink 65 ounce of water daily, I eat fruits and veggies, stay away from the scorching sun and all that…well na so my skin just be! I think the thing is I was supposed to be born a butty but somehow I landed in my parents house lol (love you mum and dad). From the image you can tell the products are dermatologist recommended, non-comodegenic and fragrance free. I am not light skinned at all, in fact I am dripping melanin and honey. So today I have decided to share my skincare products. They are products I use and they work well for my dry sensitive skin. Exfoliating : I use brown sugar and coconut oil to exfoliate. Cleansing: I use Aveeno clear complexion forming cleanser with cotton pads. I have found that using my palm isn’t very effective. On days when I have super dry skin I use the Sebamed special healing cream(actually meant for babies but it works well for me) Mouth: I use Arms and Hammer Extra White Toothpaste. It has baking soda as a major ingredient. Sunscreen : I use Cookieskin SPF 50 sunscreen. It doesn’t leave behind that white streak on the skin and it’s also oil free. So that’s it about the products I use it hope it helps someone else who has been having issues with their dry sensitive skin. https://goldenfairyblog./2016/04/21/15/ |

I still find it amazing that men do not realize its their ego that makes them feel this way(no offense to the real men) but truth be told men do not like being controlled by a woman, they forget that church business is God's business, if God speaks through woman or a man, does it really matter as long as the proper message is given to the people of the church. |
