If you spend in Naira, you are collecting less Naira for your dollar, but it also depends, what can you buy for the same 3k? Is your purchasing power the same? Inflation makes a big difference...

In 1980 you could buy a ticket to america for N2000. Now its N300,000.. Inflation/exchange rate makes a difference..

I dont know why this is so difficult for you to grasp.. Its propaganda.. There is way less cargo passing through our ports now due to the economy.. Customs is reporting more money because the people who are bringing in cargo are now paying MORE MONEY for duty... Duty that was 5m is now 8m.. So customs shouldnt be proud.. they havent done anything..


What we are all saying is customs published an increase in revenue to fool the masses.. They wrote it as a pride article, like they have accomplished something, meanwhile they should be ashamed that there's way less goods flowing through our ports.. They are just collecting more money from less people..

Its like bragging about your company making N1bn extra revenue, meanwhile your profit went down 50%.. thats stupid..

I live in Nigeria but work for a foreign company, my salary a month is 3k USD, when the exchange was above N400 i was making about 2M monthly, now that the exchange rate has dropped to N360 i make less than 2M monthly, would you say my salary was reduced?

There is no magic to what led to the increase.

I will explain what occurred.
They were initially assessing FOB using the CBN rate of N200/USD but then changed to the inter bank rate that floats between 305/USD to 315/USD, an increase of over 50%.

In practical terms 385B to 486b, is just a 26% increase. What this means is that there is a huge reduction in cargo incoming due to forex restrictions on some 41 items.

So they have done nothing really for the increase except to increase the assessment rate of Naira/USD of FOB and freight.

Truth is if you look at the two periods in USD term, there would have been a reduction rather that increase they are talking about.

Are rich in oil and gas which generates the dollars that enable Nigerians to acquire foreign products and sustain the affluence of Nigerians including Dangote who is able to build factories all over Africa because of these oil dollars.



I think it will be good to know what resources is exported from Yoruba land that generate dollars for Nigeria.


This will help to eradicate the fear some have about Restructuring rendering their regions poor.

A whopping 100 billion was made within 6 months, that is why they don't want the man to succeed , half of the money would have gone to individuals pocket.
The best way to silence critics is performance , if he likes he should put on Boxers and Tee shirt to work. Nigeria is blessed with opportunities and resources but corruption is the other of the day. Even with the drop in Volume of importation they could achieve this feat is something to be proud of.

Tinubu has already sold the VP to El Rufai.
