Social media is gradually becoming more of a job than fun as so many social networking sites keep springing up by the day and the truth is most of these platforms genuinely help you connect with past friends and business partners (like facebook) but one of the traps so many people fall into with social media is the “build it and they will come” mentality. Instagram is no different. Businesses think that if they create an account, share “quality” content, and just wait, that the clients, fans, and ideal audience will just show up. But it’s not that easy.

You need to let people know you’re on Instagram, though instagram has a way of helping every new user promote their account the moment they sign up by simply linking you to your facebook friends who are already signed up to instagram. That way you instantly get familiar faces as friends so you do not feel left out. What’s the point of being on a social if you are the only one?

So in this post I’ve put together my best suggestions for how to go about getting more friends.

#1. Website

Your website is your home. It’s where people should ultimately end up when looking to do business with you. And, therefore, your website should be complete with all the information people need to contact you and interact with you. This includes putting an icon/link to your Instagram account on your website. It’s shocking to me how often people forget this. They may have a button for Facebook and/or Twitter. But they leave out Instagram and wonder why no one knows their on Instagram. It doesn’t take much to update your website with this button – contact your web designer if you have to, but get it on there.

#2. Printed Marketing Materials

Whether it’s business cards, flyers, postcards, brochures, or any other printed materials, make sure you have some indication that you are on Instagram. It can be as simple as the Instagram camera logo or include your username. Just make sure that you’re including this information so that people at any event you attend, or person who receives your printed materials, will know that you’re on Instagram.

#3. Other Social Media Accounts

If you already have solid foundations and followings on other social media platforms, take advantage of those audiences to promote your Instagram account. Put a link to your Instagram account in a post update on your other social media sites, inviting them to come check you on Instagram. This is a really good way to tap into existing fans and customers.

#4. Hashtags

Hashtags really works like a charm in helping to increase awareness of your Instagram account. And you should totally be using this tactic. It is very easy to use just identify some key words you know or feel are associated with the image post you are about to make and take it with this symbol ‘#’ for example if you post an image with you and your dog just and you normal caption to it and tag it with this #Dog or #LoveDogs and other dog lovers around the world will easy see your picture when the search that hashtag and if you picture is lovely they will follow you instantly.

#5. In-Store Advertising

If you have a physical store location or place where customers visit, make sure that you are advertising within the store that you are on Instagram. Put up a sign in the window. Put up a card at the cash register. Put up a decal on the door. Whatever it is, make sure that you are letting people in your store know how to find you on Instagram. These people are your most ideal target audience so it is important to make sure they know how and where to find you!

#6. Vehicle Advertising

Whether you have a physical location or not, the power of vehicle advertising is very powerful. You may have company vehicles. Or you may only have your personal vehicle (even if it’s your mini-van for hauling the kids around). Think of all the places your car goes everyday. In all those places, on all those streets, don’t you think some of your target audience is out there too? You can use decals on your vehicle windows, wraps, or even side door magnets. Either way, advertising your business, and your Instagram account on your vehicle is an easy way to reach new audiences.

#7. Just Tell People

A good old conversation is also a great way to actually let people know you’re on Instagram. Yes, a real conversation. Go figure Whether it’s on the phone, via Skype, in person, or whatever, just tell people you’re on Instagram. Ideally, it should flow with the conversation at hand, not be just some random comment, but you get my point. Tell your customers. Tell your employees. Tell your business associates. Tell your leads or prospects. Tell anyone who is relevant to your business.

In all reality, this information isn’t limited to just Instagram. You should be using most of these tactics to advertise ALL of your social media accounts. The easier it is for people to find you, the more likely they will be to follow you.

3. Quit smoking:
If you smoke, your chances of snoring are high. Smoking causes airways to be blocked by irritating the membranes in the nose and throat.
4. Avoid alcohol, sleeping pills, and sedatives:
It is very easy to be tempted to want to take pills believeing it will help you sleep well enough and deep enough to stop snoring well you are wrong. Stop if now especially before bedtime, because they relax the muscles in the throat and interfere with breathing. Talk to your doctor about any prescription medications you’re taking, as some encourage a deeper level of sleep which can make snoring worse.
5. Establish regular sleep patterns:
Create a bedtime ritual with your partner and stick to it. Hitting the sack in a routine way together can help you sleep better and often minimize snoring.
6. Clear nasal passages:
Having a stuffy nose makes inhalation difficult and creates a vacuum in your throat, which in turn leads to snoring. You can do it naturally with a Neti pot or try nasal decongestants or nasal strips to help you breathe more easily while sleeping.
7. Keep bedroom clean:
This is very simple and easy and its for the general good not just to stop snoring, keep your bedroom air moist with a humidifier. Dry air can irritate membranes in the nose and throat.
8. Reposition:
Elevating your head four inches may ease breathing and encourage your tongue and jaw to move forward. There are specially designed pillows available to help prevent snoring by making sure your neck muscles are not crimped.
9. Avoid caffeine and heavy meals:
Make sure you don’t eat heavy meals within two hours of going to bed, especially dairy products and soymilk.
10. Sleep on your side:
Avoid sleeping on your back, as gravity makes it more likely for your tongue and soft tissues to drop and obstruct your airway.

Adam Lane Jr sh*t in his pants (circled) during a game between his team and East Carolina yesterday Jan. 4th. Adam ran the field for a few minutes without noticing what had happened to him until a trainer went to him, handed him a towel to cover up and he was escorted from the field. Imo State Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha has made available buses that will convey Imo indigenes, who wish to travel home for the Christmas celebration, from Lagos to Owerri, the capital of the state on Wednesday, December 24.

Imo State Liaison Officer in Lagos State, Mr. Alfred Ononugbo, who disclosed this in a statement, urged Imo indigenes residing in Lagos who intend travelling home for Christmas celebration to assemble at the National Stadium in Surulere, Lagos on Wednesday, December 24 by 8am.

Ononugbo said the state government also made buses available for Imo indigenes residing in Ibadan, who are to assemble at Saint Gabriel Catholic Church, Mokola, Ibadan.

This one is for those Android apps fanatics out there who have been lazing around waiting for an app that will be able to park their cars for them. BMW is developing a remote-control valet parking system for cars that can be operated by a smartwatch. You know what that means right? If you are having problems parking your cars as a learner, you will soon have a helper.

The sensor-filled BMW i3 car, which will be on display at the 2015 International CES in Las Vegas in January, integrates with smartwatch and can essentially self-park. According to the company, a driver could activate the "Remote Valet Parking Assistant" via an app, which then guides the vehicle to a parking spot all by itself.
The car works with the help of laser sensors that scan the surrounding environment so it can move without running into anything. It will work in tandem with a digital site plan, so the car has a map of the environment too.

KIEV, Ukraine — Reporters Without Borders said Tuesday that at least 66 journalists were killed over the course of the year as the number of reporters' kidnappings soared in 2014.
While the number of journalists’ deaths dropped slightly from 71 in 2013, the high-profile beheadings of Western reporters at the hands of Islamic State militants in the Middle East signaled a grisly new threat in the types of violence used against the media, according to the latest report on abuses against journalists by the international media watchdog.

“The murders are becoming more and more barbaric and the number of abductions is growing rapidly, with those carrying them out seeking to prevent independent news coverage and deter scrutiny by the outside world,” the report says.
On Aug. 19, Islamic State released a gruesome video of 40-year-old James Foley, a reporter for GlobalPost and Agence France-Presse, being beheaded.
Two weeks later, on Sept. 2, a second Islamic State video was released showing the beheading of Steven Sotloff, a U.S. journalist held in Syria since the summer of 2013.
Of the 66 reporters killed this year, two-thirds died in war zones. In Syria, which continues to be the deadliest country for journalists, 15 were slain. Source: Mashable

This killing is a recent Trend in the US that is gradually turning black young men against any law enforcement agencies as the string of police killings of unarmed black males across the country increases the nationwide protest heightens.
The incident took place in front of a store when Rumain Brisbon, 34, who was parked in a black Cadillac SUV outside of a convenience store on Tuesday evening, was confronted by police saying he is following two witness reports that he was selling drugs, according to a statement from the Phoenix Police Department.
Police said Brisbon had exited the vehicle and removed an item from the backseat, and when the officer, who is white, told him to put his hands up, Brisbon reportedly reached for his waistband, which led the officer to draw his gun. Brisbon fled and a struggle ensued in a nearby apartment, during which the officer reached into Brisbon's pocket and felt what he believed to be the handle of a gun, the statement said. He fired twice, striking Brisbon in the torso.
According the statement, police later found that the item the officer grabbed was actually a vial of Oxycodone tablets. They also found a semi-automatic handgun in the SUV.
Brisbon's death comes amidst a week of nationwide controversy over police violence that many say is racially charged.

Well, my most memorable thing wasn’t the most pleasant. The whole Ebola hoax …
Yes, two months ago you were a victim of a Twitter hoax which said that you had Ebola. Tell me your version of events
It was a Sunday. I trained as usual that morning and went home in the afternoon to relax and chill out. Then I got a call from our club doctor who told me there was news out that I had Ebola. I said: “How can I have Ebola? You saw me this morning at training so what do you mean I have Ebola?”
Within minutes, my media team had sent me Twitter messages of the hoax and websites on which it was trending. We joked about it and put it to bed. But within 45 to 60 minutes, it was all over the news and I was getting messages from friends, family and ordinary people asking how I was.
I was even getting get well soon messages and that’s when it dawned on me that I had to do something to stop it getting out of hand. So, together with Milan and our media team we released a statement clearly stating it was a hoax and there was no truth in the rumour that I had Ebola. And that’s when the whole thing started to die down. Still, it took about two days or so for people to actually stop talking about it.
Did you at any stage in those two days panic about the whole thing?
No. I won’t say I panicked or stressed but it was not an enjoyable experience. My family was worried about me in London and Ghana to the extent that my mum rang me to double check that I was fine the next day. I don’t enjoy my mum being stressed so that part was not a good experience and it wasn’t fair on the true sufferers of Ebola and their families. It’s not a joke and people need to understand that.
What do you make of the power of social media in all this?
It’s unbelievably powerful in promoting good activities and messages but the downside is that it can promote bad activities and messages and that’s the danger of it all. When all the rumours were spreading so fast I felt I needed to act to curb it by sending strong messages via social media. Within weeks of the Ebola hoax dying down, the guys at Health Africa International approached my friends George Weah, Mahamadou Diarra and I to be part of the initiative in using various forms of communication to promote a Ebola prevention education programme. I think using social media in a good way is the best thing to do hence my participation.
