A crop of Hitler-related hashtags has emerged on social media in the past week or so - what and who is behind this?
#HitlerWasRight, #HitlerDidNothingWrong, and - most recently - #IfHitlerWasAlive have all been doing the rounds on Twitter and Facebook over the past few days.
References to Hitler on social media are, of course, nothing new -
in the past 12 months, "Hitler" has been used more than 10 million times on Twitter. But there's been a clear upsurge recently - related to both Germany's performances in the World Cup, and the Israel-Gaza conflict.

Taken together, these three hashtags have been used more than 15,000 times in the past week. As their titles would suggest, they include all manner of anti-Semitic vitriol. But a large chunk of the discussion is critics pushing back, and condemning those who've used it.
The hashtags seem to have begun to pick up during Germany's key games in the World Cup. For example: "I think the last time the Germans destroyed someone like that was WW2. #HitlerDidNothingWrong." Though he didn't use one of these hashtags, a Malaysian MP caused outrage when - in reference to Germany's 7-1 thrashing of Brazil - he tweeted: "WELL DONE..BRAVO...LONG LIVE HITLER..."
Some of the World Cup-related references to Hitler were probably intended as jokes - albeit bad ones. But the use of the hashtags soon took on an anti-Semitic turn.
As the Israel-Gaza conflict gathered pace, the hashtags then got picked up by some pro-Palestinians - though not, it should be stressed - among many Palestinians themselves. Indeed many Palestinians were vocal in urging people to stop. "Reprehensible" "bigoted" and "hateful" is how Yasmeen Serhan, a Palestinian-American student describes the #HitlerWasRight hashtag. "Such a trend has no place in Palestinian activism," she says.
The #HitlerWasRight and #HitlerDidNothingWrong hashtags have been used intermittently and it's hard to trace their origin. But with #IfHitlerWasAlive it's much easier to identify the source - it began trending as a result of a number of individuals in Pakistan.
As with the other hashtags, the condemnation was robust. "My guess is these are uneducated people," says Zohaib Nawaz Tarar, a Pakistani student and computer programmer now living in Spain who was one of many who tweeted his condemnation. "There is a group of people starting hashtags just to get them to trend. These are stupid people who don't know real facts."
A large part of the discussion on the hashtags is people condemning their use
"It's intended to inflame - to be grossly offensive," says Rabbi Kenneth Cohen who also stepped into the Twitter conversation to condemn the comments being made. "It's also counter-productive - it reflects baldy on the people using that hashtag. It's not very bright."
"At a time when we should labouring to defuse the tensions, there are some people going out of their way to inflame them," he adds. Cohen believes the relative anonymity of social media means people feel free to say things that would be completely socially unacceptable in person.
That people make often entirely spurious comparisons to Hitler should not come as a surprise, says Mike Godwin, who back in 1990 researched what is known as Godwins Law of Nazi Analogies. In its simplest form, Godwins Law states that in any online discussion or forum, someone will - if it's left there long enough - eventually bring up Hitler or the Nazis. "It's the model of evil," in the Western world he says. If you want to escalate a debate "this is where you'll go".
Such references to Hitler have probably existed since before the internet, says Godwin. But the internet - and now social media - has magnified the phenomenon, making it much more visible.

The tipping of water on yourself - and posting a picture or video of it - has spread like wildfire between deaf friends on social networks.

You don't have to pay. Its free. Just type you blog name in the box at the top right hand side of Alexa and your Global ranking will show. If your blogs global ranking does not show it means they counld not find engh data for your blog online meaning that you never start work. You need to work on your SEO, backlinking, and traffic. All these things I will still talk about here. Don't worry I will show you how to pull traffic to your blog and grow in ranking.

I don't know what I can sell on it for now but something will come up before the end of the week. I don't like selling ebooks. I rather give out the info for free. Hmnnnn well let's see how it goes. You are right about the Wordpress blogs besides a lot more bloggers go for them am just over comfortable with blogger. I rather do my blogger jeje am use to its dashboard. And if anything goes wrong I won't mind that much its an experiment. But don't think anything bad will happen becasue I will own the domain name so if blogger close the blog I will just carry my shop to wordpress.

There are several ways to make money from your blog; as a matter of fact you can make money almost immediately.

The first thing you need to do is have a well laid down plan before jumping into blogging.

For me, I have found out that problem solving blogs can easily make you money in your first week.

How? For example, I created a bought over a blog in the health niche; weight loss to be precise. This blog came with a product on " how to lose 10kg in 10 days", all I did was to set up an optin form on the blog, drove traffic to it with Facebook advertising and I made 2 sales the next day. The products valued at N2,000 each. Now Imagine if I can make 100 sales every month? I could also sell physical products to my visitors if I wish. It's sweet when you are doing other stuffs and getting alert from your bank

Now the first thing you need to do is to pick a profitable niche. Think health, wealth and relationship. This categories are very general and you would want to narrow it down to a specific sub category. Like in the health, you can do weight loss, in relationship you can do " how to make a distance relationship work" etc. In wealth, you can do " how to make money on the internet" or " how to make money online".

Please do ensure that your blog is solving a problem, I repeat!

After you have chosen your niche, you can create your blog using either the blogger platform or wordpress platform. I prefer doing wordpress, I once had a blog on blogger that was taken down, I wouldn't want this happening to you.

After creating your blog, you need quality contents because that's the attraction. Focus on giving great information for free and you will get loyalists. You can also hire people on freelance sites to create contents for you; it's allowed!

You can monetize your blog from the first day by creating a product or purchasing a PLR ( Private Label Right) to a product just like I did. Make sure you create side bar banners for this product on your site.

Integrate a subscriber form on your website so visitors can enter their email address to be contacted whenever you make a post. You can bait them in by giving them something free. This step is very important, once you have people in your funnel, it is easier to sell to them. They will trust you because you give them free quality info. Please and please don't start pushing products to them rapidly, try to engage them first with FREE tips.

After all these are set up, you need traffic! Because if nobody sees your website, nobody buys anything from you. Facebook paid advertising has been serving me very well. If you run your advert well, you can get as little as $0.02 per click. You can start on a budget of $10 a day for 30 days. If you can get up to 1000 leads, then great! It means you have 1000 people that you can send your links to.

Always look at the brighter and higher side of things, most times it's not just about selling one product to your visitors, you can upsell and sell even more products to them.

All these post have just given me an idea. I will open another blog this week. Even dough I don't like owning more than one at a time because it is hard to maintain one blog not to talk of 2.

Choosing the Right Web Host

Setup Your Custom Domain with Blogger
Assuming you have your own hosting plan with Hostgator or another web host, contact your web hosting company about registering a domain. Tell them that you want to register a new domain name such as YourDomain.com. Once the domain is registered ask them to create a CNAME record for your domain with the DNS directing to: ghs.google.com. Please note that it may take a few hours to a day for your DNS settings to update correctly.
Now we need to update your Blogger Settings at Blogger.com. Go to Settings and then click on the Publishing tab.
If you are publishing on , you will see a link near the top offering to switch you to a custom domain. Go ahead and click on "custom domain".

Now click "Switch to Advanced Settings".

Fill in the name of your domain. I typed in YourDomain.com as an example. Once you've done this enter the word verification at the bottom of the page and click "Save Settings".

That's it! Your files should now be hosted at your new domain if your DNS settings have been updated yet.

Now that you have successfully opened your blogs. My people its time to learn how to Build your brand. The first lesson is Favicon...this is the small "N"aira sign you see on the top left corner of the site when you go to Nairaland.com and the "t" sign in twitter or the "f" on facebook. Go to your Layout in the dashboard and click the edit botton on the Favicon and insert a 16 by 16 picel picture/image of your choice that explains your site in a glance.
If you don't hv a 16 by 16 image and you don't know how to get it resized to that size then just do what I did. Take the image to "iconj dot com" they have a favicon genator software on there site that will resize your picture for free. You can even go through the free samples they have and select any one you like for free. After that go to your dashboard and upload it in your favicon. Shikena...................

How to Create A Blog

There are a lot of platforms that give people the opportunity of owning a free blog like Blogger, Wordpress , tumbler etcetera.. . I will advice you go with blogger because the dashboard is easy to navigate and it is what I am currently using.
If you don't have a person gmail account then go ahead and create new gmail account now. It's important if you want to own a free blog.
Once you have created a personal gmail account
Go to Blogger.com and Click “Create Your Blog Now”

Select a “Blog title” and an available URL for your blog. You can check if the URL you are considering is available by clicking "Check Availability".

Choose a starter template, which will act as the basic design/layout of your blog.

Click “Start Blogging”

Let me take you guys back to the Template again. By now you have selected a nice template and in your mind you believe it’s very nice...well the problem with what you have is that it is free and it is given to you just as it was given to millions of other people worldwide. So you have to put in extra time or effort to make yours look unique.
In Blogger we have what they call Widget for Wordpress you might hear them say plugins. All join....they are used like an Addon to help you add codes, links, scripts etcetera to help beautify your blog.

The normal everyday blog templates are lacking different themes/layouts and widgets – In other words, your blog will look really blank and boring. If you want additional themes or plugins to customize your blog, you have to pay to get them or use the over 800 free boring ones on blogger… or google search a lot to get the free downloadable ones. Trust me, these days you will need a very good template in other to convince anybody to invest in your blog or do business with you.

Speaking of Plugins....i just added one to my blog yesterday, YOU MIGHT ALSO LIKE....got it from Outbrain.
