Jobs/VacanciesRe: Never Put These 5 Things On Your CV When Applying For A Job In Nigeria by prowriterss(op): 7:03pm On Jul 09, 2020
Officer101:
Please one of my friend had diploma certificate in Theology from his church, he asked me whether its proper to add it to his CV.
People around him have divided opinion about it, some said he can add it since its an additional knowledge for him, while some said its a turn off that it makes someone look too religious since he is not applying for any job that requires it.

Please note! His first degree is Agricultural Economics and had MBA after. He is currently working in a bank and got his Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN) last year.

Is it necessary to still add Diploma Certificate in Theology to his CV?
Can the certificate in any way be positive in his CV?
Yes.... Absolutely...

HealthCoronavirus: Guidance For Safe Mass Gatherings In Nigeria By NCDC by prowriterss(op): 4:56pm On Mar 16, 2020
The Nigerian Centre for Disease Control has advised that mass gatherings of any type should be discouraged as the fear of a possible outbreak looms. In an update released by the NCDC on Monday afternoon, the National Epidemic monitoring team is on top of situation in the country as the global transmission of the virus becomes worrisome.

‘The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) is constantly monitoring the epidemiological
situation in the country. In view of the rapid evolution and global transmission of coronavirus,
NCDC will make the recommendation for cancellation of mass gatherings in line with guidelines from the World Health Organization (WHO).’

The federal government has placed close watch on all types of mass gatherings, outlining a few to be discouraged and if can’t be dallied, proper authorization should be taken from the State Ministry of Health.

Below are the guidelines from the NCDC:

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control offers the following guidance with key planning considerations for organisers currently planning mass gatherings in view of the COVID-19
outbreak. These include:

• Religious events e.g. church services, calls to prayer, prayer meetings and other
gatherings

• Sporting events e.g. football matches

• Social events e.g. weddings, funerals, parties, music concerts

• Others e.g. youth service camps, conferences, exhibitions

Organisers of these events must ensure adequate preparations are in place, before hosting an event.

Event organisers should consider using distancing measures to reduce close contact
among people during the gathering e.g by providing more entry and exit points, more food
points, ensure handwashing facilities (with soap and water) are readily available at entry and exit
points.

PRE-EVENT OR GATHERING

The State Ministry of Health should be informed of the event. The location will be assessed. by officials from the State Ministry of Health to ensure safety procedures are in place. The requirements listed below will be assessed prior to the event.

Organisers should provide the following information to attendees prior to the event and at
entry.

o Advice on regularly and thoroughly washing of hands with soap under running water or
use alcohol-based hand sanitizer
o Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands
o Avoid shaking hands, hugging and any other form of physical contact where possible

Please stay at home if you feel ill with fever, cough or breathing difficulties
o Cover your nose and mouth with your bent elbow or tissue when you cough or sneeze
(organisers can provide this). Dispose of the tissues immediately
o Please remain in self-isolation for 14 days, if you have just returned from China, Japan,
Italy, Republic of Korea, Iran, France, Germany, Spain

DURING EVENT OR GATHERING

1. Use the gathering to reinforce messages on hand and respiratory hygiene and staying safe.
Religious institutions are encouraged to demonstrate hand washing technique before the
start of prayers to their congregation
2. Ensure provision of adequate hand washing facilities including running water, soap or
alcohol-based hand sanitizer
3. People with symptoms such as cough and a fever should NOT BE ALLOWED into the premises.
Arrangements should be made to check this on entry
4. Organisers should provide adequate human resource who will be responsible for cleaning
and disinfecting communal places such as ablution areas, all floors, toilets and surfaces such
as door handles, chairs and church benches with disinfectant or soap
5. Organisers should provide adequate waste management facilities such as closed trash cans
so that people dispose tissue and other waste properly
6. Organisers should review practices that put their congregation at risk (e.g sharing a
communal cup, receiving the holy communion on the tongue, shaking hands)

FACILITIES IN PLACE FOR MASS GATHERINGS:

1. Room with adequate ventilation and proper air circulation
2. Hand washing facilities- running water and soap
3. Waste management facilities
4. Health personnel to detect fever on entry and respond to emergencies
5. Adequate resources to disinfect after the event
Attendees at mass gatherings are also advised to review the advisory above and take note of
preventive measures.

HealthAs Coronavirus Spreads, Nigerians Are Exporting Face Masks To China Illegally by prowriterss(op): 1:58pm On Feb 08, 2020
Senator Ifeanyi Ubah says over 100 million face masks have been illegally exported from Nigeria, due to the coronavirus outbreak.

Amid the global spread of coronavirus, Senator Ifeanyi Ubah, on Thursday, February 6, 2020, raised concern over the 'illegal' export of face masks from Nigeria to China, and other affected countries.

The senator accused Nigerian airport officials of aiding the smuggling of surgical face masks, which he said is in high demand in Asia.

Ubah stressed that the non-screening of of chartered flight passengers at the airports, might be deadly in view of the threats posed by the coronavirus epidemic.

While lamenting that Nigeria has exported over 100 million face masks illegally since the coronavirus outbreak, the senator representing Anambra south, claimed that the illegal export of the face masks has led to an increase in the price of the item.

He said, “Over the last three weeks, face masks have become the most sought after commodity in Nigeria with over 100 million face masks being exported to Asia using Murtala Muhammed Airport and Port Harcourt International Airport.

“As at 5th November, 2019, stores that usually sell one piece of face mask for N10 now sell it for N80, while a pack consisting of 50 pieces has now been inflated from N500 to N3,000 – a carton consisting of 40 packs is now N120,000 from N20,000.

“Major retailers and suppliers in Asia have been preserving their face masks and reporting surgical mask shortages as a result of the outbreak and while Nigeria has continued to export imported face masks available in shop/stores to Asia and other affected countries.

“It has now become a booming trade for illicit traders aided by airport officials in Murtala Muhammed International airport, Lagos and Port Harcourt International airports to export face masks to China, India and other affected countries.”

The lawmaker however expressed fear that Nigeria could soon face a shortage if nothing is done to check the the 'illegal' export.

“Nigeria is on the brink of an imminent outbreak, given our massive population and frequency of travel; and with the looming shortage of protective surgical face masks, we might be on our way to creating a devastating global situation.

“Nigerians are not adequately abreast and informed of the disastrous modalities and health consequences this deadly virus portends which could be further magnified by the impending shortage of protective face masks. " The Cable
quoted Ubah as saying.

The first case of Coronavirus , which is believed to have originated from bats, was recorded in the central Chinese city of Wuhan in December 2019.
In a latest development as reported by CNN , the virus has killed more than 630 people on a global scale, majority of whom lived in China. More so, no fewer than 31,400 people across 25 countries and territories, have been infected.

Jobs/VacanciesHow To Move On After Failing To Get The Job You Really Want in Nigeria by prowriterss(op): 9:45am On Feb 04, 2020
Don't feel sad when you are rejected in a job interview. Here are things you can do to keep up your job search.

No matter how hard you prepare for a job interview, sometimes, you just don’t get the job you really want to have. Rejection could be a frustrating experience especially if it has happened more than once.

But when this happen, you don’t have to resign to fate or think some village people are working against your chances. You don’t have to get demoralized and stop your job search.

As a matter of fact, rejection can actually help you prepare better for your next job interview and that is, if you take the time to learn from it.
The following tips can help you move one after getting rejected in a job interview.

1. Don’t take it personally

Hiring managers have a duty to either accept or reject a candidate in the interest of the company they work for. If you get a no from them, don’t say they reject you because they don’t like your face. Don’t get angry with them or with yourself. Don’t also let frustration set in. Instead, take time to process your emotion. If you’re feeling troubled about it, talk to someone, may be a friend or your mentor.

2. Ask for feedback

When you get a no from a hiring manager, you can ask him/her why you didn’t get the job. There may have been forces outside your control. For example, the company might have decided to promote someone to fill the role.

The management might have also decided not to hire for the position again.
On the flip side, you might be the reason you were not employed. You might have been rejected because your skills didn’t match the job requirements or you’re not culturally fit for the organization. Knowing the reasons you’re overlooked helps you identify where the areas you need to develop yourself and prepare better for another interview.

3. Volunteer

Volunteering can help you build your confidence and improve your skillsets and ability to work with others. Instead of getting frustrated and losing hope, volunteering helps you see how much you’re valued and at the same time add depth to your resume.

4. Keep up the search

Never let the frustration that sometimes comes with job search stop you from searching. The sooner you get back searching after a rejection the sooner you get the job you are looking for.
