doublezero7: Visa Appproved at the Abuja embassy.
Got to the embassy around 8am for my 9am appointment. Longest queue ever mehn. Took over an hour to get to my turn. Passed the check points. Got in and was interviewed by a lady that looked like Sheila Zazz from Suits . Lol. I smiled as soon as i got to her and greeted. Honestly, there was no fear in my mind. I knew i was about to have a nice conversation.
She asked fot my passport and I20 which i passed to her
VO: So you're going to California State University, Los Angeles to study Healthcare Management?
Me: Yes ma'am
VO: why thia school?
Me: i chose CSULA because i they have a research in the area I am most interested in which is Medical intelligence and surveillance services systems. (She cut me)
VO: What is MIS?
Me: (wasn't expecting that so I took a pause, smiled and continued) MIS is that category of intelligence that is derived from the collection, evaluation, analysis and interpretation of foreign medical, bio scientific and enviromental information which can be of importance to strategic medical planning. (I was going to explain what MIS systems is used in the US and Canada before she cut me)
VO: when did you leave school and what did you study?
Me: i studied philosophy and graduated in 2013. (She looked up and asked)
VO: from philosophy to public health...(and she looked kinda turned off. Village people haff reach here o)
Me: Ma'am, studying philosophy gave me answers to lots of questions i had about life. I knew someday that I'd be taking up additional responsibility. So i decided to improve my art of reasoning and critical thinking skills. After my undergraduate degree, i started off as an intern at the Nigerian Institute of medical research and then got employment at the Federal Ministry of Health, Yaba Lagos. I presently work at my family's healthcare services company.
VO: That's enough. How many years of experience do you have in public health?
Me: 5 years
VO: Who is sponsoring your studies?
ME: My mother (passed her statement of account . She went through it whilst typing)
VO: Did you write any standardised test?
Me: Yes ma'am
VO: Can i have your score sheet?
Me:: (passed it)
VO: I'd be approving your visa now. Your financial document would be verified and if it is found to be fraudulent, you'd get your passport back and be banned from the USA. Do you want to submit this document.
Me: Of course ma'am.
VO: Take this paper. It would instruct you on how to pick up your passport. Take this other paper too. Enjoy your studies at the United States.
Me::Thank you. And enjoy the rest of your day too. Congratulations man! Enjoy your sojourn. |

100kobo: Many are still getting their visa approvals on a daily basis, most of whom are not Nairaland members, while others who belong here have simply refused to give back. The recent hues and cries will play little or no role in influencing visa decisions. The candidate has a major role to play whilst still hoping on the God factor.
I am speaking directly to those preparing for their appointment: Do your honest part! Prepare as though you are an atheist, and pray as though everything depends on it. Eschew every negative vibe you read here. I am sure some people also come here to spread panic deliberately and otherwise. "Your case is different" should be your slogan as you make ready to meet your VO friend SMH to the bolded |

npmi: At this rate of high denials, I doubt there's need of going for visa interview. Your story may be different... Not withstanding the current realities. I have been reading this thread for the past three years with no plans of traveling out; guess I'm just addicted to sharing in the joy of others. #CharacterFlaw Have read good stories here that get me fantasizing and bad ones that get me utterly depressed. I believe the spree of denials lately is due to a lot of factors others have mentioned already: New Trump Policies Fudged docs Insincerity And students not wanting to return after gradj If you are sincere enough, prepare well, have your genuine docs then you only have two things to contend with 1. Policy. 2. The V.Os mood/personality/beliefs/political ideology & inclinations (regardless of their professional and so-called diversity training). And these aren't your fault. Try again, if it doesn't work, opt for the EducationUSA route (if age will allow). If all don't work, settle for other countries cos at this point, there is nothing you can do seeing even if you are highly qualified by all standards, you stand a 50/50 chance as a V.Os mood can work against you or you might panic and say something wrong (Not illegal but wrong by the V.Os sole judgment). They are judge and jury at this point. They may not even like your face. Now it's just a question of luck that you find the V.O in a mood you'd want or that he's not a silent immigration hardliner like trump. Interviews are mostly evaluated by a panel - for a job, an award etc but here, you are left at the mercy of the judgement of one person concerning something as crucial as this and whose ideology or state of mind you cannot gauge cos if you do, youd simply give him the answers he wants to hear.
These white people set these standards for measuring human responses and reactions from their researches. They invented psychology and behavioral studies and know fully well that interviews are characterized by really nervy moments and different people handle nerves differently so there shouldn't be a blanket criteria for evaluating people's performances but they do it anyway because it lines the coffers of their governments and they care less.
They know nerves can make you say stuff that aren't accurate ... Not by choice but because what's at stake is too enormous. We do it, they do it but ours is "badder".
I'm just so fascinated with international travel esp. to the USA but this new trend is dampening my spirit. Plus you have to pay a lot more again! |

Politics › Re: Soldiers Massacre: Army Threatens Legal Action On Fake Video Sharing by PRYCE(m): 8:30am On Nov 25, 2018 |
Explorers: That video is scary and shocking bro.
Moving from one dead soldier to another and giving them another shot in the head just to make sure they're all dead.
No secured base/camp perimeters, no radar in their bases to detect incoming attack from miles away, no communication system, no backup, expired weapons and equipments.
In developed countries, if soldiers are setting up just temporary camp/base anywhere, it will be up to a life time standard and secured no matter how small the size.
Perimeter will be like a mile away with air/ground defence system, communication gadgets, armory, generators and both ground and air support few miles away.
If soldiers are travelling in danger zones like this, they deploy drones ahead their route first to detect ambush and to guide them with their motorcade full of armoured cars/humvees and a communication vehicle. (Ground/air support not far o in case)
Serious people/Government that value lives of citizens, that's what they do.
We can afford these things, but we wont just do the right thing here.
Men at Nigeria/Chad border/Borno, you giving them hilux and staying in holes and under trees camp like animals
The more the pain/agony/suffering/crying of the people, the richer they become. Bro can you share a link to the said video? I need to see this myself. |

HenryDion: Did you even try to watch the video? After watching it, i now see jonathan as a joke. Obama didn't make any stance.. He was as neutral as possible in that video. Unless there's another video which i haven't seen. Guy forget video. What about the part where he sent his secretary of state to come interfere in a sovereign nation's affairs? The man protested the postponement of the election as if he was a stakeholder in this country. What about the part where the secretary went to see the sultan, met core northern governors completely shutting out the south and Christians whom are known GEJ's supporters? Guy Obama wanted a regime change in Nigeria and he got it. But, Karma was always gonna fvck the man in the ass too. #Trump |
