Family / Re: Two Things You Must Have To Begin Your Canada Immigration Process by Psychostar(m): 12:18pm On Aug 04, 2018
PALsConcierge:

The journey to Canada is very much easy and simple all you have to do is know the basic requirements needed. No one ever starts a journey without making appropriate preparation for the journey.

Just after your decision to immigrate, there two basic requirements you must have ready to help you begin. They include:

1. IELTS:
The International English Language Testing System (IELTS) is a very important and required test anyone who is either applying for study, work or a visa to Canada must take. It is compulsory. First, you need to understand that without IELTS your visa application is incomplete. It is not just a document to submit but a required document that shows that you understand and can speak English fluently. If you desire to be a resident of Canada, IELTS will pave the way for you.

Sometimes, some people ask why they are required to take the test since they are from English speaking countries. All applicants, again all applicants are required to do this test, it's a way to standardize their eligibility criteria.
Honestly, it is really not about taking the test, you must take the test and ensure to get a very good score. The higher your score, the higher your chances of getting a Canadian permanent resident visa. The success of your immigration process is 90% dependent on your IELTS.

2. ECA:
Educational Credential Assessment is important. Here, you request your transcript from the institution you graduated from. When your transcript is ready, it is then sent to a body in Canada called WES (World Education Services) for evaluation. Why is this important? You may ask. Doing this is necessary so that the government can gain recognition for your education so you can pursue your goals in Canada and be able to store your report and verified educational documents for future use.

For many applicants who desire to work or study in Canada, this is very important. It boosts your chances of getting a good job in Canada.
These documents are what is needed for the first stage of your Canada immigration. They determine if you will be selected from the pool or not. Hence, it is important to have them ready so as not to delay your process.

With a permanent resident visa, there is no room for rejection as long as you meet the requirement needed to make your immigration possible.

grin provincial nomination gives u 600 points. Meaning 600+ 403 u had previously. PNP is used by pple whose CRS points fall short . u also have to live in that particular province for a certain time when u land. Cost depends on the province. lowest have seen is 350 CAD and highest 1040 CAD . enter PNP thread sharp cos it doesnt look lik ITA scores wud come down to 403 anytime soon.

Thanks Sir

Hello Family,

Kindly highlight the differences between seeking a WORK PERMIT and PROVINCIAL NOMINEE PROGRAM.

Financial implication?
Which is faster?

etc.

Thanks.

See history of Cut-off scores here so you can analyse what score you should aim for. https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/immigrate-canada/express-entry/become-candidate/rounds-invitations.html

Continue using the crs tool to stimulate options for improving your score.

Is there any particular process for getting a Job Offer?

I'm thinking that would be my best shot at getting in.

Secondly, Does my MCSA Certification count? Was a 9 months course.
Microsoft Certified Solution Associate

Thanks.

Fyorgyn:

I am relatively new on this thread but I've done a bit of background reading so I will attempt to answer your questions.

The first thing you need to do is estimate your points using the CRS tool using each of you as primary applicant.

There are things you need to consider.

1. Age.
If either of you is between 20-29yrs you get a whooping 100 points. From 30 to 40 the points reduce by 5 every year. So the younger person will have an advantage.

2. Educational Qualifications

If you are the primary applicant, you get 112 points for your bachelors and your wife will contribute 10 points for her MBA (122 points in total for educational qualifications)

If your wife is the primary applicant, she gets
126 points for her MBA and you will contribute 8 points for your bachelors (134 points in total - an extra 12 points)

3. IELTS
The primary applicant can contribute up to 128 points if they ace the IELTS. The spouse contributes a maximum of 20 points.

So if you score better in IELTS than your wife you may contribute more points eventually.

4. Work Experience
With your 8 years experience you can contribute 50 points if you ace your IELTS. If your wife is the primary applicant, with only NYSC (I am assuming she has served) she will contribute only 25 points and this is if she aces IELTS.

So you do need to consider all these factors to determine who will be the primary applicant.

For POF, you can use a gift deed. Go to page 0 to see more on that. However, I think that this requirement is for our own good. Moving is something that should be properly planned and it is essential to have enough cash when moving to a new country.

As for moving with family, a lot of people have done "short landing". It means going with your family, getting your documentation and then returning back to Nigeria. To renew your PR card you only need to have lived in Canada for a total of 2years. This means you may still have 3years to move finally.

All the best

Concise breakdown, thanks!
1. Late 30s so nothing much in that regards
2.I will be the primary then since the difference is "only" 12 points.
3. I expect no less than 8 on each of the ielts tests. This should translate to how many points?
4. Is scoring an 8 on all tests enough for the extra 50 points on 8 years experience?

All things considered, I think its better I'm the primary applicant
Thanks a bunch.

I can respond to Questions 1 and 3

1.You have to be the principal applicant because of your years of work experience ,applying for EE entails you having years of work experience... However, both of you can Write Ielts ,evaluate your degrees to earn more points..
3.No you don't have to to with your family immediately, you can go alone, but your family must join you in 6 months time

Thank you sir

Hello People,
I must confess its quite a pleasant surprise finding this much information here and for free too!
God bless all the contributors.

Came as a hurtful surprise when I discovered that most of my "friends" are "disappearing" to Canada without so much as giving me a heads up.
I mean what are friends for!!! lol

I have "soji" now and ready to take the plunge, and here I am banking on your kindness take take me by the hand and walk me through the whole process.

What Have I Done so far?
1. I have requested for my Degree certificate from school.
2. I am studying for the IELTS with my spouse. Hoping to register for the exam befor this week runs out.

I want Express Entry but in a dilemma as to who to apply between myself and my wife.

I have a BSc, as well as 8 years plus work experience in a bank.

My wife has an MBA, but has no work experience at all.

Kindly advise how best to proceed.

Question 2: Proof of Funds
From what I see in previous posts, I will need to provide a naira equivalent of N8m for a family of 4.
I do not have that amount.
Any suggestions as to How best to work around it would be appreciated.

Question 3:
If application is successful, do I have to go with my family immediately or could I go alone at first to "prepare" the way for the family?

Thanks once again.
Its a great forum!

I'm not holding brief for the bank.

But the affected staff are going home with GOOD MONEY.

No victimization here.

And by the way, majority of them have been with the bank for over 20 years.

so.....

And why wasn't it on front page when UNION BANK employed 500 last month?

I guess BAD NEWS IS NEWS?
