i'm happy for the joker. but knocking down on all the success marvel has achieved in the past because of it is just laughable. and sad in some cases.

First of all considering the media backlash joker suffered even before it's release and the fact that it's R rated it's very unfair to compare the amount of people that went to go see it...the Joker had no right to make up to 600mil after all those obstacles but it keeps on smashing records everyday and there is nothing like damage control here ;Dits all thought out and executed

They stated it clearly but since it is MCU, the media kept it hush hush, so that their fans won't cry.

Let them make research and find out that marvel CFO was lamenting that Endgame didn't make anything for them at the end. They don't know that if endgame was highly profitable and had a huge ROI, dark Phoenix won't errode all the profits.

From the list, we can see Endgame is nowhere in the list when it comes to Return on Investment (ROI) after the so called huge profit.

And point of correction, according to deadline, Endgame's profit is $650m.

So, if after all this profit, the movie is not amongst the most profitable or amongst CBM with high ROI. So, what's the essence?

Joker, after deduction and everything will make the same profit as endgame if not more, depending on the final outcome.

In terms of profitability, Joker is number 1.

In terms on ROI, Joker at the end of its run, will beat all these marvel movies listed.

To get profitability,

Use the budget (Joker)- $70m.... against the total amount made - $930m (assuming it ends its final run at that amount)

$930m/$70m = x13.28

Joker will give you a profitability multiplication of x13.28


Endgame on the other hand, budget $356m against final outcome of $2.8bn

$2.8bn/$356m = x8

Endgame profitability is x8 while joker is x13.28


Returned of investment (ROI) is the net profit ÷ total amount invested (budget+PA+Distribution)

Jokers net profit is going to be $500m or more but I will leave it at $500m.

Its total production budget is $70m..assuming the spend like $130m on ad, PA and distribution. This will make total amount invested to be $200m

ROI (Joker) - $500m ÷ $200m =2.5


Endgame net profit is $650m while its production budget is $356m + $250m for Ad, distribution and marketing giving a total investment cost of $606m

Therefore,

ROI (Endgame) - $650m÷ $606m= 1.07

Even if I increase its profit to $750m, the ROI will be 1.2 which is nowhere near Joker's 2.5 return on investment.


That's why a low dark Phoenix film that flopped eroded everything that endgame made because the profitability is very low and the roi is as good as nothing.

Even Marvel's CFO (Chief finance officer) stated it clearly that marvel/Disney did not make as more profit as people think.

It is quite fascinating that you took the words of a Reddit user seriously just because it suited your agenda.

First of, this is the greatest piece of trash I have ever seen and I mean it. The first screenshot is the actual profits deadline reported Aquaman made which is less than the dead ass Reddit user posted.

Secondly, the second screenshot shows the actual profits Wonder Woman made which of course was higher than what the Reddit user reported again.

Thirdly, the third screenshot indicates how much of a profit age of Ultron made which of course was higher than what the Reddit user reported.

Fourthly, the fourth screenshot indicates how much of a profit black panther made which of course was higher than what the Reddit user reported.

With all that said, you want me to take this your post seriously?

Let it also be known that each screenshot provided evidence of DVD and Blu-ray sales, Pay tvt and network TV. Merchandise sales were excluded. Now tell me how would you expect joker which hasn't finished its theatrical run, does have any DVD and Blu-ray sales, rentals etc to be up of the list. When everything is said and done, joker is more likely to be the MOST PROFITABLE COMIC BOOK MOVIE IN TERMS OF BUDGET TO BOX OFFICE.

Would it be the most profitable comic book movie of all time when everything is added? HIGHLY UNLIKELY, but it would definitely be in the range of infinity war and black panther (meaning 2nd, 3rd or 4th most profitable).

Note: Captain Marvel and Endgame was excluded because they haven't added everything up but the Reddit user must be God to know how big a profit it made.

P.S, Next time try giving reports from a respectable source not some Reddit user analysis

i just tire for them. one of them is even calling marvel the king of losses like... bruh wtf? . the mcu has been steady in quality since day 1 without a single flop. just because they've managed to make some decent films of late they now have the balls to diss marvel. heck, even now the dceu is still a bit wobbly whereas mcu are hollywood titans. dc fans breathe, eat and live in delusion.

which DCEU is a bit wobbly DC has been and is currently breaking bounds and trying new things while Marvel has been rinsing and repeating and still not able to make gains from the tired trope

I sincerely was . If you go to sites like superherohype, reddit and NeoGAF, you could go at least 8-9 pages without seeing some sad Marvel or DC cuck taking cheap shots at the rival side . Sadly it's not the case here. I came to NL as a fan of both but I remember the very first thread I jumped into was some DC fans tongue-lashing Marvel. And I can be pretty defensive of Marvel cos I grew up as a Marvelite . I only started getting into DC in my late teens. Naturally it was easy to pick a side when the storm kept getting worse.

I don't even take these nairaland Marvel/DC threads seriously. They can get too juvenile for me sometimes. I usually prefer Superherohype as my go to chat room for Comic book movie stuff. I'm an active member there but I won't tell you what my handle is

The opposite is the case for me...when I came here marvel fans were the ones always taking shots at DC and Snyder...the rest is history
