Hey guys,

Someone please guide me through. I am from India.

My wife got an admission in manitoba for masters studies.

She did her upfront medical test and will be applying for study permit shortly.

I would like to accompany her on open work permit.

Is it safe to apply together or apply after she get her study permit approved.?

We have a 16 month baby. We are planning to take her once I get job in Canada.

Can someone guide me through the right direction?

Thanks in advance.

Hello Nairaland,

I am from India. I used the forum while applying for Tier 4 visa for my masters in UK last year. Now I am just came back as a graduate. Members like justwise helped me big time during my UK visa process.

Now my wife will be going to Canada to do her masters and I am planning to go with her as a dependent in open work permit.

And my visa worries started again.

She got a letter of acceptance today for January intake on a 2 year masters degree. We will do our upfront medical test this week.

She already got police clearance. I will be getting shortly.

Our plan is to apply for visa during the first week of November.

At the current situation, here are my questions.

1) to apply together or I should apply after she got her study permit?

2) if I should apply after her approval, should I apply directly for open work permit or apply for TRV first and apply for OWP after reaching Canada.?

Finances

We have total of $24000 CAD in my wife's account. This excludes the $13000 which will be paid by me as her first year tuition fee.

In the $24k we will get a GIC for 10k to show for he expenses.

So she will be having $14k in her account.

3) The funds in her account is not consistent for 4 months so what can we do alternatively to show the visa officer that we have it?

4) I have $10k in my bank account in UK for the.past 15 days. How can I show this as a proof of funds to support myself?

Note- We have a 1 year old daughter who will be staying back in india with her grand parents. She will join us after I get job there. She will not be accompanying us at this stage.

Whatelse we can do to increase our chances of getting approved.
