landuseact: Daniella has a wonderful voice too, but I hope she can start varying her performances on stage a bit. I am not a fan of crying on stage abeg, whether song is emotional or not (pls my personal opinion o). I think debbie has d most unique voice in the house but there is obviously a problem. Either she doesn't know how well to use her voice or the faculty don't know how to match her voice to songs dt r picked for her. Whether she wins or not it would be advisable for her to pay attention to artists lyk tracy chapman, nina simone and joan armatrading. These are people that have unique voices but know how to use them. SelahI totally agree with you about Debbie, but this is a competition aimed at challenging the dexterity of singers so they can't always give her songs that are convenient for her. Besides, when she was given Tracy Chapman's "Fast Car" to sing, she still didn't deliver like I thought she would, so I don't really know whatsup with her |
chibyksveejay: All these Clement fans here, abeg, come to ur reality! Geoffrey is better anyhow u Wonna check it... Ruky has wide vocal range than Clement!!! Clement goes off wen singing high pitched song . most times he even shout. Ruky sings loud. Watch her performance of sia chandelier n also last week performance. I repeat, Clement is an average singer.the fact he stands at a place is an advantage to him,buh still his vocals ehh. Abeg,Dat rukky girl beat Clement!! Her problem is Dat she isn't consistent. Finish!!thank u |
toba: See, we shouldn't allow our sentiment to becloud our sense of judgement. WTH will you compare Ruky with Clement? whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat? Have you forgotten that this clement is disadvantaged and not balanced? Abegi. He's doing extra thing for you and i to even consider him up to this level, in addition to his talentif you like scream 'whaaat' from here to 9th Mile, fact is fact. Mention any 2 of Clement's performance that you think he nailed best and I'll go back and watch, meanwhile go and check Ruky's rendition of Chandelier by Sia and her last week's performance |
landuseact: errr how exactly is clement disadvantaged and unbalanced? i hope you are not referring to his broken leg? if not you are the one being sentimental here. the problem with ruky is she is inconsistent but on a good day her voice is stronger than clement’s. i stillSTRONGLY believe geoffrey’s voice is the best in the housepls tell him o..the guy's judgement has been soo clouded by his love for Clement he has no idea. |
delovivada: It's your opinion tho but in as much as I would like daniella to win, I strongly doubt she has more vocal strength than ruky or clement. She sings pretty well, adds irrelevant phonetics to songs more than the main artist themselves but amidst all that she sings quite well but don't buy d idea of her having vocals ahead of clement. #myOpinionits true sha, we all have our opinions, but give me an example from Daniella's performance where she added "irrelevant phonetics" |
toba: Most of his songs. I mean most of his songsguy pls be real. Clement doesn't come close to Geoffrey..and stop making it seem like Clement is even second best in the house, its not true, I'll pick Ruky (stage presence) and Daniella (vocals) ahead of him. |
Dramadiddy: hmm I fear female pianists cos they are scarce and theyre quite goodI've NEVER seen any female keyboardist (except on TV). The day I see one, that girl is coming home as my wife |
delovivada: I really want Daniella to win. I feel she has the best voice in the house. Who else thinks Daniella has all it takes to win mtn project fame 2014?I think I'm with you there, but I don't know how she'll perform if she's given an upbeat song that requires her to sing and dance at the same time, like naija pop songs |
feruchii: Hello house ..What the theme for the weekendhasn't been revealed yet, maybe 2moro |
Zuria: I had to re-watch Chidinma & Monica's Tuface renditions, all the Season7 contestants messed up Tuface songs except for Shola who did exceptionally well #bittertruthshola? Are u kidding? He did well but he wasn't the best or second best or 3rd best of the night in my opinion (and apparently the contestants too cos 2day they voted ruky's performance as the best) |
damilola231: Miss Ige's class was really emotional last week. I'll really appreciate if anyone can tell me d title of the song Ruky sang in the class while she laid on the floor and the name of artistit wasn't a song, she was just freestyling.. |
AriDsexy: Pls what station did you watch yours,if I'm seeing ur comment at 7:31,because I know even soundcity had not started their performances proper at that time?NTA shows it by 5 |
homesteady: I think among the girls, its Debbie's performance(Joy - wizkid) that has had the largest ovation from the crowd! especially when she switched the song to reggae!u're kiddin yourself |
kilokeys: it varies among pianists or.. most pple embellish seriously.tnx bro..altho I'm scared to try it, it looks complex. I don't play 7ths comfortably yet. |
Dramadiddy: link to the song pleaseI've searched online and couldn't find it anywhere.. |
homesteady: She performed it quite well, she is a good dancer! But the song is CRAP!dats wat I thought too, the song is crap but the performance was good. People need to know how to distinguish that |
Wasup guys, pls I need a little help. In Cece Winans' song "Because of Who You Are", there's a chord movement where she says 'I will lift my voice and say...' I'm not sure what was played in the original song but I've heard 2 keyboardists play ti, mi, la (on the left hand). Pls I'd like to kno the right hand chords that accompany this movement, thanks. |
homesteady: watched the show today!I disagree with u. I just watched it and it was an excellent performance, it was sexy and her voice was on point too. Maybe you just didn't like the songs |
dominique: Chei! I don miss oshe actually has a great voice...she's jst not a good performer |
Flourish went off key again...she has a great voice but wen the song involves movements and stuff, it kills her. Even Daniella struggled 2day |
NTA and MITV (channel 255) are showin it ryt now...mehn, I'm not a Geoffrey fan but dude jst SLAYED the show mehn slam dunk #teamFlourish #teamRuky #teamDaniella |
ModusOperandi: I thought Debbie was on Probationdebbie wasn't on probation..it was daniella, taiwo, christian and Shola..judges saved daniella, facaulty saved christian n the contestants saved shola |
MizzD: Daniella is such a sweetheart. She smiles like a sweet 16. She's growing on me. I would like to see her perform too though. I have a feeling she's excellent with soulful songs just like flourish but might be a not -so-good performer.its crazy, I was noddin furiously in agreement to ALL the points you made |
ebonyjummy: Temitope wildcard? Who's dt?she's one of the 5 singers who contested for the wild card entry. Daniella emerged winner that was how she earned a slot to join the other pf contestants almost halfway into the show |
gameboi: Playing with the blues scale requires quite some skill and constant practise. I'd advice you to start by trying its application with hymns. Not all songs fit into the blues scale. Songs for it are specially composed. You can also download DOWN BY THE RIVERSIDE by Blind Boys of Alabama. With it, you might just have an insight into how it should be applied.tnx bro...checking out the song ryt nw |
Dramadiddy: i meant practice the major and minor chords of the notes of thee major scale of whatever key you're in like.. Cmaj scale is C D E F G A B C, so the chords to practice will be Cmaj, Dmin, Emin, Fmaj, Gmaj, Amin, Bdim, like that for every keygat it!! I appreciate bro |
Gflat: You just mention me therehehehe..coool name |
Dramadiddy: practice the scale very slowly to understand the importance of the individual notes of the scale... Then increase your speedtnx...I'll do that |
Dramadiddy: keep practicing the major and minor chords of the diationic scale of whatever key ure in, also practice the major scale of the keys.. Do all keys at once, even if its not so perfect, make sure you do all keys everyday and their inversions, do it everyday... That's how I learnt.. Note im not a classical musician just a gospel guythnx bro..diatonic scale..pls kindly expatiate on what that means |
Also, can someone explain to me how to practically apply the blues scale or jazz in my playing. I don't want to hear stuff about what makes up the scales cos I think I understand those, I want to know how to apply them in ordinary hymns or worship songs[img]Also, can someone explain to me how to practically apply the blues scale or jazz in my playing. Wasup everyone. I was sooo excited wen I found this thread, however it seems everyone here is waaay ahead of me as pianists. However, I hope y'all can stoop to my level to help me. When I began playin, I never intended to be a professional keyboardist, I jst wanted to learn music theories with it and stuff. So I didn't bother challenging myself with learning new keys so I learnt on only keys I was comfortable with..C, Dflat,F, Gflat and Aflat. So right now, if a song falls on any key besides these, I can only manage to play the basic I IV V chords (The music director forbids us from transposing) My question is, are there any piano exercises you recommend I do to speed up my acquaintance with the other keys. |
sisiafrika: Wat song did Temitope wildcard sing initially?she sang Chrisette Michelle's Porcelain Doll |

She was just dancing like a rabbis patient!
