Putin acknowledges the U.S. machineries are the once fighting in Ukraine.

The US goal is to prolong the war to drain Russia of their war machine and deplete their soldiers but Putin is after his already outlined objectives: 1 - Annexation of the Donbass, Kherson and Zherborizhie. 2. Keep Ukraine out of joining NATO.

From the general look of event so far, Is Putin achieving his aim? YES!

The Donbass area, Kherson & Zherborizhie are now annexed and part of mother Russia. And in show of spite, Zelensky signed and submitted a bid to join Nato, however the bid is being deliberated because it's a bad idea for nato to accept Ukraine, this would easily lead to WW3. So again is Putin succeeding? Yes.

This collective West not recognizing the newly annexed territory as part of Russia is their problem and RUSSIA DON'T CARE — As time goes on, Russia allies and trade partners will recognize Donbass as part of Russia.

So where do we go from here.

Putin mobilization of 300,000 men (which will be more than 300,000 if the chen chen men, private machinery and soldiers from newly newly annexed donbass joins) would be an escalation because Donbass is considered Russia's territory and Putin warmed that Russia would use any weapon to protect Russia and he ended with "....this is not a bluff."

He didn't mention nuclear weapons but this is the real fear of the west after the fear of losing hegemony which they already lost now that the world is currently turning multi-polar rule based other thanks to Putin.

Back to your question, why can't Putin just take his glove off and deal with Ukraine messilessly.

The answer is; there will too much civilian casualties that even Putin allies would resent him for giving such brutal order, Putin doesn't want to be that guy but the U.S keeps pushing him. He isn't taking the bait just yet (exept Russia security is threatened), however, he also has a plan, which I believe is to let Europe economy plunder, the U.S. will run out of weapons and aid to send to Ukraine and then they will tell Zelensky to begin Negotiation with Putin.

The SMO is covered by legislation. There is little they can do with it in terms of forces dedicated to it, places targeted, who can be tatgeted etc . You need to understand, Russia Isn't USA. They don't play dirty. They follow their laws to the letter.

To declare full war, they need to complete the process that has already started. When these regions are incorporated into Russia (that's when the state Duma accepts and ratifies the referendums), they can unleash the full weight of Russian military on them.

They are working on it, moving military equipments, defense, troops and preparing reserves for these while the legislation is in process.

At least, the world now knows Russia is a puppet in warfare. Take away Nuclear from them and the Nigerian Armed Forces will run over Russia!
