It was an emotional outburst.

There are racists, i know, if you've worked with some of them, you'll probably know what it means to experience racism without being called a 'nigga'. Some will be racist to you while smiling with you cheesy grin

Couples sometimes have heated arguments and say unprintable things to each other, things that shouldn't be said. It doesn't automatically mean that they hate each other, that's what emotional outbursts can do.
There is a big difference between an emotional outburst and the nonsense those people did in that video. Emotional outburst from where? United had just won by three goals and lingard played quite well. At least he had an okay performance. If lingard played uselessly and united lost, then I’d agree with your “emotional outburst” point.

LMFAO....... I am sure if lingard is your brother and you see someone hauling personal abuse at him straight to his face while entering the team bus yesterday including calling him a nigga you will smile and say it's just business. I am sure you also support those that broke into Ed's house as well.
You shouldn't have replied that guy. His type is the kind that will put a tyre on a fellow human being and burn him just because he stole something.

The abuses are crazy but Lingard is the cause of his plight. He's not the first to insulted for poor form. He should pick himself up and improve. Age is on his side.
So Lingard is the reason Lingard's Grandparents have cancer? Lingard is the reason Lingard is battling with mental problems? No now. There is more to life than football. His poor form is simply a result of the mental problems he is facing. Fans should back him and other footballers up in such times, not abuse them.

Other celebrities suffer this same fate, it seems once you become a celebrity, people expect you to kill your emotions and become a super-robot.

Sadly some fans are just unfortunate and don’t know when to stop.
Exactly what i was saying the other day. No one deserves the treatment he gets from so-called fans. Rival fans troll him, his own club fans who are supposed to motivate him to help him perform better abuse him. How can he perform? He is not a robot. Everyone keeps saying Lingard is shttt but people keep forgetting that this same Lingard was once called the English Iniesta, He was once nicknamed Messi-Lingard. You don't get compared to such greats if you don't show world class potential. So why is he so poor now? Obviously so called fans have broken the poor lad by constantly abusing him just because he has been having a poor run of form. I really pity him though.

Lingard - where do we draw the line between 'banter', criticism and abuse?

Something I've been thinking about since Caroline Flack and the whole 'just be nice' movement on social media - do you think it'll ever apply to football?

Obviously it's part of the job that they'll be criticised to some extent by the press/fans/media/social media but where do you draw the line? As i'm, sure you've all seen, comment sections on social media are often full of comments slagging off Jones and Lingard in particular

For those who don't know, Lingard has said publicly he's had mental health issues recently - he's looking after his newborn daughter, two siblings who are kids, his mum who's very ill, his grandad and nan have cancer but remains a prime target for jokes online. Jones said he doesn't want a testimonial because 'nobody will come'.

Now there's a video circulating of some 'fans' shouting racist abuse at Lingard after the Derby game last night. Honestly don't think it'll be long before we see a high profile player either committing suicide or dropping out of the game due to depression.

Where do we draw the line between 'banter', criticism and abuse?

I have been ignoring that baseless allegation that i may be a male because i do not really care what anyone thinks i am as it does not affect me in any way. Calling me a male will not give me a dick. But you should really think before typing rubbish with those your worthless and cursed fingers.

I believe strongly that Lingard has overstay his time at Utd and it’s time to move on but the kind of abuse that guy get daily is annoying. Yeah, we don’t want him at the club but they should chill tf.
A transfer is the best thing for him(mentally and football-wise) and United. I heard Atletico Madrid wants him.

I think he has to let go of social media for a while. Maybe just maybe those criticisms, abuses and insults are really affecting him. He tries to show that he has a thick skin but I doubt he’s not an emotional wreck currently.
He is an emotional wreck. I check his instagram regularly, the amount of abuse and hate he gets there is alarming. No human should ever have to go through that. All because he is in poor form? There was a time he disabled comments on his page. I think he has enabled it now. The hate even spreads to his comments on other United players Instagram posts. If he comments on a Marcus Rashford post, his comments received about 100 comments all abusing him and telling him “to stay away from Rashford so he doesn’t ruin him. WTAF?? Who can perform with that kind of negativity thrown at him?

Did u just say England? Forget sentiment, He will get a better chance and better treatment with naija. With all our players England has been snatching, what can they show for it? how many trophies have they won? If this saka guy should lost form for two games lasan (God forbid), England won't hesitate to drop him. England is not that good for player development. Tomori was feeling like maldini then and opted to play for them... with his form now and his constant absence from match day squad, I doubt he will even smell Euro provisional squad.
What do you mean by better treatment? I guess better treatment to you is: Not being provided with good training facilities, having to transport yourself to match locations with your own money, generally being under-appreciated etc. If Saka is the best in his position in the squad then he will start, the fact that there are many people who can take his place in the squad will make him work harder to get into the first team and Arsenal will reap from this as well because as he gets better for England, he gets better for Arsenal. What’s there to challenge him in Nigeria? That corruption ridden country? I love Nigeria because it’s my fatherland but I will never advice anyone to play for Nigeria when you have a better option in England. If Tomori deserves to start, he’ll start. Will you even start Tomori for Nigeria with this his current form? The fact that England will drop him if he drops form should be a motivator for him to work harder. Do you expect them to keep playing him if he loses form and there are other players who are doing better. If he doesn’t want to be dropped, then he’ll work extra hard.

what!

come on, is Nigeria that so bad or do you have any relationship with England that you are advising such?

probably and no one can say
Yes Nigeria is that bad! What do you expect him to achieve playing for Nigeria? He has a better chance at winning international awards and laurels playing for England even if he doesn’t win any trophy with England. Atleast England can take him as far as semifinal of the euros and World Cup. Nigeria will hold him back, that’s the simple truth.

Now as a football fan, where do you think Arsenal's SAKA should belong? Nigeria or England?

Because rumor has it that he could be drafted into England Euro 2020 squad
England of course. I wouldn’t advice even my enemy to play for Nigeria. Saka is fast becoming a great player, he shouldn’t waste his career with super chickens.

So I found this. What do you guys think about this? I think Aaron is actually improving in his attacking game but it’s difficult to see because the forwards are not converting these chances into goals.

Or maybe people see but don’t just care because Aaron in is a dysfunctional team

NB: I didn’t say Aaron is better than Trent, because I know how some people here reason.

It's better to just keep quiet after a loss then. Rather than jumping from one viewpoint to another. One of those times, you said anyone that still believes Ole is the right man needs to be checked to a remand home, now you're saying you believe in Ole, what does this say about you?

I just decided to highlight four of your posts. You might not be used to this moniker but we've had an history of arguments on my other. First time, you called me all sorts of names on top this Ole matter, then came back to apologize saying you were foolish for believing anything can come from Ole. Few weeks later you started saying another thing. Almost the same way, you'll enter one crazy argument on Barca thread, then come here to complain about how stupid Barca fans are and those ones go see you dey smile believing they have one better Barca female fan. Let me stop here. You can throw abuses at me o, you're free. Cuz your posts on nairaland, naso so small pikin curses full am.

To the post digger and his supporters: I posted what I posted and I take responsibility for them. I posted those stuff when I was angry with Ole, truth is I believe in him and I always will. I wanted to edit those posts after I calmed down from those losses because I knew someone would dig them out any day I show support for Ole, but I just decided to leave them so the post diggers can feed. So Mr BenNash, you can keep digging and I’ll keep supporting Ole. Of course I may still get angry and criticize Ole and even call for his sack when man utd lose a game they should win, but after the pain of the loss has faded, I will always be back to supporting Ole. tongue
